Cacio e pepe
Victoria S.

Had an amazing authentic Italian dinner here! We ordered the focaccia bread which came with a garlic spread as well as seasonal butter which was very tasty. We also got the calamari which was extremely fresh! The highlight was the cacio e pepe with burrata which was outstanding! My friend had the bucatini amatriciana which she said was also really good. Best meal I've had in a while!!

This place was very good food wise. From the savory plates to the sweet desserts. Quality ingredients, as it should be, for the price. Our sever was really nice & attentive. for my plus size friends, this place is TIGHT inside, if you can, ask to sit outside. Parking lot is also super small, but there is parking near by.

A negroni like no other!

One of my favorite dinner spots! The cascio e pepe with housemade sausage, focaccia, meatballs are my favorite eats! The Vanda negroni is exquisite! Staff are super friendly! A real gem in Apponaug!!

Cannot say enough good things about Vanda! The food is consistently delicious, the are top-notch, and the service is always friendly and attentive! Highly recommend--one of my go-to spots!

This is going to be short. Living in San Diego now, when I come home to the east coast I like to get my fill of Italian. This is the place. Everything was delicious. Instead of a second stomach for desserts, I'll create a second stomach for bread. The focaccia bread, was amazing. The meatballs were perfection. The pasta dishes made my taste buds short circuit because they couldn't handle anymore goodness. So yes, I will make sure to come here every time I visit my family. The service was great and the space was small and cozy. Reservations, I would imagine, are highly recommended. I might have dreamt about my dinner, this might be a problem.

Wow! What a gem in Warwick. The parking lot is tiny and packed, but I was able to find a spot. The hostess is right outside the front door helping people to their seats. You can choose either outdoor or indoor for your res. The outdoor does have an overhang, but I imagine it's not incredibly pleasant to eat there if it is down pouring. So when you make your reservation just keep that in mind. I was surprised that we were seated at the bar with our reservation, but didn't mind. Sean, the bartender was friendly and made great suggestions. We started off with the Gavi wine which was a perfect summer sipping wine. Of course we had to try the focaccia and the butter of the day was a bloody mary butter. Next up was the nectarine and burrata salad. This was my favorite of the night, it was the perfect combo of salty and sweet-- seasoned beautifully. We then went with the cacio e pepe, which is always a favorite. Finally based on Sean's recommendation we had the butterscotch budino for dessert and it did not disappoint. If you've never had one before it's like an amazingly rich and thick pudding with tasty toppings. Already looking forward to my next visit. They said they switch up the menu seasonally, so there is always something new to try!

Canneloni stuffed with spinach and ricotta and a grilled eggplant and ratatouille sauce- outstanding!

With a little rhyme... Let me be clear, if in RI we will live here. There was no wait and the ambience was great. Service A1, food second to none. There's nothing more they could do, but move closer to you! We were in on a Tuesday early (5:15) fortunately as both the patio tables and inside seats were full when we left! All our menu questions were answered and they even brought out the clams so we could judge size (we like smaller) and then, as requested, picked out the smallest for our appetizer. The broth, clams and bread were spectacular. We ordered a nicely aged bottle of red from a well executed wine list, which was perfect with our meal. Our entrees (duck fusilli and a rich eggplant & ratatouille over fresh made stuffed cannelloni) were excellent. The red sauce on the cannelloni was scrumptious!! Service was perfect throughout. I could go on gushing but if you fly into Providence airport you have to go - lunch served as well!

Made reservations, 3 weeks in advance, at Vanda for date night with the wife. We had heard good things about this small Italian restaurant in Warwick. So, we were looking forward to seeing if the reviews were true. Vanda did not disappoint. Cocktails were very well made and all of our dishes were excellent. We used to live in the Federal Hill area, so we are no strangers to good Italian food. I would put Vanda up with any restaurant in that area. Staff is friendly and professional. Everything is made in house from the pastas to the sauces and desserts. The restaurant is very small, but didn't feel overwhelmed by noise. I'm glad I made reservations weeks ahead of time. We will definitely be going back.

Clams with garlic ... spectacular
Mike R.

Got a walk-in seat at the bar. Great service, great food ... the clams were outstanding. The wine list is limited but excellent with reasonable prices. If you love genuine Italian food, this has to be on your list and this review is from someone who has been to Italy many times.

Pork chop with pickled peppers

We went on a Sunday evening at 5 PM and we were able to get a seat at the bar. The bartender was very nice, attentive, and made some really great drinks! We tried the Bolognese Ragu and the grilled pork chop. The Bolognese was delicious, but the pork chop was out of this world! The pickled peppers just went perfect with the thick cut brined bone-in chop. The asparagus couldn't have been cooked any better! What a perfect little place to have a great dinner! All of the staff were very friendly and professional. I have to also thank Yelp for the pictures that helped me pick my perfect dinner.

Eggplant appetizer

I had to come back to Vanda after my first time there last year and it was as good as it was the first time, perhaps even better! We were promptly seated at the time of our reservation and within no time our server informed us of the specials for the night and grabbed our drink order. We had the housemade focaccia last time and definitely needed some more, so thats what we started with. The garlic puree and butter that came was a great accompaniment with the loaf, it was gone in a matter of minutes. We also had the eggplant appetizer and that was beautifully fried and the dish wasn't very heavy even with a healthy layer of ricotta. For my entree, I had the pork chop that was served on a bed of polenta. The pork chop was juicy and charred well. It was gone in a matter of minutes. The restaurant wasn't as crowded as it was previously and it made for a comfortable environment.

Great place ! I stopped by for lunch on Friday, and Vanda was packed! It's a cozy place with excellent service and bustling with energy. I started with delicious focaccia bread with a special garlic spread and also seasoned butter. Then I had an eggplant Napoleon that was delicious. Finally, I had special potato gnocchi, nestled on a delicious marinara sauce and smothered with melted cheese and topped with strips of basil leaf. Delicious!

I was thrilled to stop by and had a wonderful experience at the bar. I have a small appetite so I chose to have the side order of seafood fried rice and it did not disappoint. It was so absolutely delicious. The shrimp were plentiful and tender. The colorful variety of vegetables were fresh and the seasonings were incredible. So good... as I said, that I had to order another "side" to take home! I did spoil myself with some sticky toffee pudding of which I brought home leftovers as well. Be warned, it's on the more expensive side for dining and may be a coin toss for "is it worth it" for those that enjoy a night out but also looking for value. Food was a mixed bag for us.... Starting with the smashburger was genuinely disappointing as the burger itself was dry and advertised as a "French onion" smashburger that failed to deliver any of the rich, savory flavor we expected with a name like "French onion smashburger". The hot honey Mac and cheese was very good and flavorful... The hot being more of a vinegary heat than I expected but the cream sauce was rich. Speaking of value earlier.... Smashburger was $20 and the Mac and cheese was $28. Entrees were $10-15 more it seemed but previous reviews all spoke highly of the entrees and would want to try them if we visit again. The overall service experience was disappointing for us. Not for the demeanor of the staff but everything else... We had a decent size group of 8 (5 adults and 3 kids) and was fortunate to have a dining room to help the kids burn some energy while not bothering the other diners. However, from ordering to entrees to arrive was 45 very hungry minutes. It also took 20+ mins just to get drinks. Once the food arrived, they also were short two of the kids meals which was thankfully corrected quick. We then were somewhat "gently" being asked to wrap things up by 3 staff members in 10 mins making the rounds to clear plates and any to go containers. We all understand the business in the food industry and turning tables, and trust me, after an hour from arriving to food on the table we wanted to get home for bed time. However, really sours the experience and would not advocate going here with large groups.... Between the kitchen and staff I can't say you'd have a guaranteed good time.

Our server, Jenna, visited our table soon after we were seated and brought us water. We were waiting for other members of our party, and she never made us feel rushed or pressured. While waiting, we put in drink orders and the "Lavender Fields Forever" cocktail that I ordered (Rhodium Gin, lavender syrup, fresh lemon juice, snap pea simple syrup) was so delicious, and garnished with a beautiful sprig of lavender flowers. We ordered two appetizers: Point Judith Calarmari and Corn Arepas. The calamari had too many tentacles and not enough rings for me, but the arepas were excellent. The cornmeal base was crispy and hot, and there was just the right amount of meat and toppings. For entrees, our group ordered the Chimichurri Grilled Chicken sandwich, The rigatoni with pink sauce and sausage with crispy chicken as an add on, the short ribs over mashed potatoes, the Wood-Grilled Bone-In Pork Chop, and the Rib Eye Steak. We all enjoyed our entrees. It is evident that Iron Works uses high quality ingredients and puts a great amount of care into the preparation fo their food. We split three desserts amongst the five of us: The flourless chocolate torte, the cheesecake, and the Banoffee Sundae. The flourless torte was rich and very chocolately, and the cheesecake was very good as well. I'm not a fan of bananas, so I didn;t try the Sundae, but the friend who ordered it enjoyed it. After dinner, we sat and chatted for awhile,, and we never felt rushed or pressured to leave. This was a very enjoyable evening in a great restaurant environment with delicious food.

Most egregious: the shrimp that came with the Caesar salad was POPCORN SHRIMP coated in SWEET-AND-SOUR sauce. I truly couldn't believe it. Why wouldn't the server at least warn me? To add insult to injury, my salad was overdressed and soggy. Also, the dressing was revolting. I don't mind anchovies for flavor, but the dressing tasted like an anchovy puree. I think it was maybe past its prime. I had one bite and couldn't continue. Inedible. And the fries. The parmesan truffle fries were drenched in mayonnaise??? I don't really care for mayo but I don't mind a drizzle or an aioli dipping sauce. However, the mayo to fry ratio was literally 2:1. I tried to wipe it off and it was still like a mayo-fry soup. Inedible. I took everything to go and just trashed it. I've NEVER done that before. This is a delayed review (meal was a few months ago) and I'm still rattled by how bad it was.

It was very cramped. I sat in the inside chair, in order for me to get out, my husband had to get up and move his chair totally out and around the end of the table for me to get out. The table on the other side had the chairs right up against the chairs behind it. Whatever. We got settled and looked at the menu. First item on the app menu was a bread basket. 4 rolls of bread for $8. Most places just bring bread. Ok, we aren't getting bread. Ordered drinks. I got an apple cinnamon mule. It was very tasty, but 2 sips and the drink was gone. The cup was filled to the top with ice once the drink was gone. Ordered the sirloin sandwich. Server said it's her favorite thing on the menu. I ordered the horseradish on the side because too much is overwhelming. It came smothered in horseradish. The person who brought it food placed it and was gone, so I didn't have a chance to say anything. I managed to take the steak out and wipe off the horseradish... there was soooo much. I couldn't eat the bread. By the time the server came over to ask how everything was, the rest of my party was almost done eating. I mentioned that the horseradish was supposed to be on the side and she said "oh no! It's ok though right?" I said I guess it will have to be, as she can see most of my dinner was untouched and I was eating my wiped off steak with a knife and fork. She didn't say anything else and left. No manager came by. She never came back other than to drop the check. After we ate my husband told me his ahi tuna bowl had a ton of soy sauce in the bottom and the rice was swimming in it, so he didn't finish that. We won't be returning. I have written many yelp reviews and almost all our positive. If I don't like a restaurant, I usually just don't review it. But after reading other negative reviews for this restaurant, I figured I should warn people. Had I read the reviews first, I probably wouldn't have gone. Lesson learned.
