Impeccable service and unparalleled products. In my case, I went to inquire about a specific watch the (Le Feerie) which I have always wanted despite the stratospheric price. They did not have one in stock but the saleswoman said there was one in So Cal that could be there the next day for examination. She was extraordinarily helpful and also a fellow horologist. Of course, I didn't purchase this bauble since it was nearly the price of a house but what a masterpiece! In addition to exquisite timepieces, the staff with whom I spoke were all also very knowledgeable particularly about corundum and had countless set and loose stones. My 25 years as an amateur faceter seemed to genuinely interest the staff and we had a wonderful time taking various pieces out for close examination with a loupe. Few shops in NYC can match the magnificent showroom and elegant service. I wish I could move in. Highly recommend a visit if only to gawk...but know your gemstones and have a black card! read more

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the service I received at the VCA 5th Avenue Boutique. I recently purchased a ring that fit over my knuckle but was loose on my finger. My Sales Associate recommended adding two beads to ensure a snug fit. However, after the beads were added and I wore the ring for the first time, I experienced significant discomfort and was unable to remove the ring due to extreme swelling. This led to an emergency room visit because the beads were cutting off blood circulation in my finger. Both the ER physician and the boutique manager (Kseniya) confirmed that the placement and size of the beads were the cause of the extreme swelling (as the beads were too big and placed directly on my veins). After this incident and upon speaking with another 5th Ave Store manager (Michael), Michael claimed that the size of the beads are "standard" and it was my choice to add the beads. However, at time of purchase the SA recommended adding beads and he never warned me that the beads would be too big for the ring or that it can ultimately lead to my blood circulation being cut off, otherwise I would have never agreed to adding the beads. I had no idea what the bead size would be. As a result, I am very surprised that VCA would even add beads to this specific ring, knowing that they would be too large. I relied on the professional advice of your Sales Associate, which directly led to this incident. The ring ultimately had to be cut off, costing me $450 in medical expenses. While I appreciate the boutique manager's willingness to provide me with a new ring, I was disappointed to learn that VCA would not cover my ER bill. I was informed that the size of the beads are standard and the decision to add them was ultimately my choice, despite it being suggested by your Sales Associate. At the time of purchase, I was not warned about the standard sizing of the beads or the possibility that they might not work for my finger. Instead, I was advised that they would make the ring fit nicely. Given my long-standing relationship with VCA and the significant amount I have invested in your pieces, I am shocked and disheartened by the handling of this situation. In light of the above I sincerely hope that VCA will reconsider its decision regarding my medical expenses, as this incident was a direct result of the advice provided by your staff. I will be escalating this matter. read more

But I needs to fix my watch strap, which I got this VCA watch for over 20 yrs from my parents! It was very intimidating walking in, but we were greeted nicely! I said we were just looking. It was time to get a wedding band to go with my engagement ring and after doing some research I decided to visit Van Cleef & Arpels in Midtown. I was able to make an appointment online very easily. Lizhen was very friendly and helpful and helped me select a lovely wedding band and arranged shipping which went well. Very happy all around with the service and product. As someone mentioned in a previous review they don't have a ton of different wedding band styles but they are all very elegant. I only wish that we got the engagement ring at Van Cleef :-) read more

It was the first piece of Van Cleef jewelry for my wife and I was excited to give it to her for Valentines Day and ordered early. Unfortunately, they sent the wrong piece. I promptly returned but my replacement didn't arrive in time for the holiday. Actually, it didn't even ship. I would expect better service from a luxury brand; instead, I had to follow up, re-package and call back. Disappointed and definitely my last time shopping here. They seemed "fake" sorry but really didn't take my call seriously. Should have shopped at Cartier instead. You might have a better experience in the store if you are nearby. I do not recommend ordering through the website. And, this is not one of those really good brands that provides excellent customer service with employees empowered to fix problems (think Nordstrom). read more

I know It sounds weird to review Van Cleef for its coffee, but I was absolutely amazed when I asked for a cup of black coffee, they gave me this sugar stick that's like a stick of crysta. Despite some of the negative reviews here about snooty service, I had a very nice experience here purchasing my first piece. I had researched what I was hoping to purchase online but had not yet set foot in the store, so I looked around and tried on a few things once I arrived. The staff was very friendly and brought me a nice setup with a cute little box of chocolates and a glass of water. Once I had made my decision, the associate I worked with was very polite, informative, and helpful (despite the fact that I was purchasing one of the less expensive items in the store--I was definitely not their biggest customer!). This review is related to the interaction with Ms. Faith F., Customer Service Manager. I made a purchase during Covid remotely, sight unseen, and only recently traveled into the city for the first time and asked for a adjustment. This is beyond the regular window. Asked to waive the fee due to the Covid limitation. Instead of empathizing with the situation, Ms. Faith stated that "as a company, we would know your movements around your apartment, and did not have the record that you did not travel out before". I felt appalled and disgusted by her comments. It was utterly disrespectful and insulting. I was shocked that a Customer Service Manager of such a high end boutique would talk to the client in this fashion. read more

Based upon the VCA jewelry that I was wearing, he would only bring out large pieces. We had picked out two other pieces, and I also asked to see the small earrings, I wanted subtle. He told me that the smaller earrings I wanted to purchase were only for poseurs and children. I could not believe how distasteful he was, so we walked out of the store and have been shopping at Cartier instead. We had an awful time here in VCA store on 5th ave! Not only the experience in store but also with follow up service! We planned to buy engagement rings and wedding bands recently. We have a very tight schedule in NYC, hence I called the store 2 days ahead to make an appointment. We arrived at the store on time. No body opened the door for us, which is different from other diamond stores, but we didn't care too much about it. However, the most frustrating thing was we waited for the sales at least 15 mins!!! None of it asked us if we need any help or water. The sales we made appt with finally came to us. Probably because of our casual dress, the sales was not very hospitable. We asked to see some more styles and more choices of carat, but It seemed that VCA store didn't have too many diamonds in store, only a very small collection. So disappointed!!! Finally we got the contact information of the sales, and she said she will send us the price estimates later based on our requirement. I finally got the price estimates, it was just a rough number! No style information! No 4C information! Even no picture! And was in a very impolite way! We went to Cartier, Harry Winston, Graff. We made appt as well as VCA. Every time we didn't have to wait for a sales, they are all well prepared based on our short discussions on phone. And we were all served with water. After appt, they all sent me email with detailed information requested. None of them were as impolite/rude as VCA. read more

Right smack on the NW corner of 57th and 5th. You can try on these Mega-Millions pieces if you'd like, too. I always wondered if these guys were gonna get robbed because the exit doors are so close to where you try the stuff on. Like about four feet away. Not that I had any ideas or nuthin'. *wink* Recently renovated, this classic jeweler really uses good stuff in their wares. Tiffany tends to use diamonds that are not the best quality but in here, they wouldn't go so low. Oh, and it doesn't really get crazy crowded in here. Clean, contemporary, sophisticated, but not gaudy! The rooms are very nice, the salespeople are quite down to earth, and the pieces themselves are well made. Prior to arriving, I already had in mind what I wanted to purchase and went in with the goal to make the piece my own. I stepped in, and there was a row of associates who stared me down before approaching me. I was a bit irritated because I didn't get service until I began to walk around for a few minutes. I asked to be shown to the Alhambra collection, and was quickly pointed upstairs. The SA followed me upstairs, and I told her what I wanted to see. Within less than a couple minutes of viewing the pieces, I told her I wanted to make a purchase. She seemed quite surprised probably because she thought I looked young and wasn't in to make a serious purchase. During the process of ringing up my order, I wasn't served a single beverage or plate of bites. Everyone else sitting at one of the tables were all served champagne and a plate of bites. I was appalled and taken aback at the service to me. When she counted the money I had given to her, she had an argument and exuded attitude with her fellow colleague, which was completely unprofessional. The SA had a snotty aura and acted like she was superior. If she really were, then why was she serving me?! I left with such a bitter taste in my mouth. When I was leaving, another worker offered me a chocolate truffle, which was better than nothing after dropping a few thousand dollars at the store. After thinking it through, the behavior of the SA and other SAs in the store really pissed me off. I'm on my way to return that piece! read more

I wound up purchasing a Perlee ring with Audrey's help. I was extremely happy with her assistance. She did not push to make a sale, something that happens in other jewelry stores. Instead she showed genuine pleasure at being able to help. It is clear she loves working with customers and is also extremely knowledgeable of Van Cleef jewelry. My sister and I had just been treated poorly at cartier and walked in here grumpy, but we were immediately greeted by a cheerful french woman who asked if we would like help. I mentioned we were shopping for my sister's birthday and wanted to walk around, she immediately said we were free to wander about and that she would send someone to help us. The sales associate, Michelle Lee, was really pleasant and helpful without being too pushy. She showed us a ton of jewelry with patience (even something I mentioned wanting to try on but was too extravagant to buy). The Miami Van Cleef location is not like the others. We purchased a pair of Alhambra earrings at another VC in Beverly Hills 4 months ago and then a bracelet from the Perlier collection in Miami last month so I am comparing both boutiques. The difference is night and day. The BH store employees were all so professional. Our saleswoman was elegant, pleasant and polite. She really "represented the brand" so well! So my boyfriend suggested we go to the midtown store for an early Christmas shopping visit. The midtown store staff feels like they should work at the stock room at Walmart! Not the caliber of other VC stores. You can hear them gossiping with each other, laughing about customers who tried things on but didn't buy, and to top it off. they offer coffee but then can't use the machine properly. They just aren't at all the caliber of other VC boutiques. Also, at the same time, the staff is especially condescending. Maybe they think they will sell more that way? But there is a fine line between elegant and obnoxious. It's like they are pretending at being fancy salespeople, and that is a huge turnoff. They also didn't know nearly as much about the collections! Don't think I will be going back - Cartier is right across the street and the staff is much, much more professional read more
