TL,DR; buyer beware if you're coming to Cartier specifically for a watch (can't speak to the jewelry). I've had a very up and down experience at Cartier Fifth Avenue, unfortunately. Your experience can vary widely depending on the sales associate assigned to you. I came to buy Cartier watches as gifts, and found that different SAs had very different knowledge of their catalog. It's a bit disappointing when you're preparing to spend big money on watches, and your SA can't answer basic questions about the movement, the horological history, or the specs. And despite spending big on this trip, I was offered no gift with my purchase; no travel pouch, no extra strap. Only when I returned the next day did a different SA "remember" to be more friendly and give me a pouch (more on why I had to return multiple times below). Then there's the watch itself. I've had awful luck with the Santos I purchased. Or should I say Santos-es, plural? The first one I bought had a completely broken quick release mechanism on the strap (see photo), which I noticed only after leaving the store. Considering the watchmaker had to help size the strap, you'd think they would have noticed this on QC before selling it to me. To their credit, when I went back to the store the next day, they couldn't repair the mechanism, so they exchanged the purchase for an entirely new Santos. Off I went, happy that the issue was resolved! Except now my second Santos had a mechanism running fast. Not a few seconds a day, a few HOURS. So off I went, returning to their maison yet again, and their watchmaker agreed that the mechanism was wildly out of spec. So here I sit, having paid for a Santos, and it's expected to be with Cartier for EIGHT WEEKS for repair. How a mechanism of a BRAND NEW watch made it to the sales floor without better quality control is beyond me. I'd expect more from a luxury brand like Cartier. This has never happened with the other watch brands I've worked with, so it doesn't set a great precedent. read more

If you are here for decorations you are likely going by the majority of fifth avenue so you might as well come here too. We did also go inside as my wife is a fan of Cartier. Actually made her first purchase during our honeymoon in Vegas. We did not have intentions of buying and more so wanted to just browse. They definitely have some beautiful items and they all appear to be high quality. No staff interaction happened so cannot say anything about that. In order to get help with jewelry you will need to check in with the desk downstairs. We were not told that at first and when we got to the second floor they told us to go downstairs. We were not going to go back down and than back up as the person we asked where a specific piece was should have told us in the first place that we would have to put our name down in a list. That was a bit annoying and waiting about 30-45 min to talk to someone without even knowing of they would have what I was looking for in stock or in my size was also annoying. I am very disappointed in the Customer Service department of Cartier Fifth Avenue at 653 Fifth Ave., New York City. I brought my Diamond earrings that is clip ( not with a back post ) to ask if they can possibly convert the clip with a back post style. The clip has a little plastic pad to ease the tightness of the clip because it can be uncomfortable when you wear it all day. I was told that because it's a vintage style, they cannot do it! When I asked if they sell the plastic backing, I was told that I needed to present the original receipt when it was bought. I explained that they can see the engraved Cartier name and serial number so they can check the serial number. The woman who helped me said nothing can be done without the original sales receipt. It's a beautiful 18K earrings that I inherited from my husband's mother valued at $30K when she bought it many years ago. I was horrified to learn that Cartier that is well known to carry high value and quality jewelry pieces does not stand by their merchandise. It is a huge disappointment for me to know that the Cartier name is nothing but a hoax . Their customer service is AWFUL . For me, Cartier is way down the list of high end brands as compared to Tiffany's, Bulgari, Buccellati, Harry Winston etc. I will NEVER buy any Cartier merchandise . ***UPDATE *** Since posting this review, I did call the number. The representative on the phone was as horrified as I was at the treatment I was receiving. He was going to send my issue to "higher management." I assumed maybe I'd get an email. Nope- within two hours I received a phone call from Juan Carlos who was kind, empathetic, classy and everything I would expect from Cartier. Within ten minutes he fixed my issue! Thank goodness for him They broke my bracelet. They are repairing it but it will not be the original which has sentimental value (it was my mothers who had passed). Beautiful building but genuinely poor service experience from pick-up to drop-off. Cartier is clearly at a historical high point in terms of mass appeal brand popularity and it seems they are unable to accommodate the volume. I had an almost brand new Santos that stopped working, so went to get it repaired because thankfully it's covered by warranty. While I'm self aware enough to recognize that complaining about the experience surrounding one's expensive watch is an unsympathetic endeavor, it's worth sharing if only to save someone else the headache and frustration so here we are, powering on. Over the next 6 weeks, I am on the receiving end of what is an almost baffling cavalcade of unforced errors. Appointments lost, callbacks never made - I just wanted it fixed and mailed back to me. Instead, they send me a bill for more than $500. Nobody could tell me anything other than someone will call me back - call that never came, over and over. Felt like Groundhog Day if Bill Murray's character was stuck on hold with the DMV. After 8 phone calls and 3 emails over the course of more than a week, they get back to me, acknowledge their mistake and now finally start the service, now all nice and delayed. While the initial service advisor was nice, it took me weeks to get in touch with someone. Once is easy enough to brush off, but this was 10 separate incidents. Now, I'm a reasonable man and to be honest; they could have redeemed themselves and I'm more than willing to let bygones be bygones. Alas, this was not to be. The pickup was a rare case of adding insult to inexplicable injury - I show up to get my watch after they text me to come to the counter, I walk up exactly 3 mins from the timestamp. I am told they're given away my appointment (mind you, I'm just picking up the watch... I just want them to hand me my property and move on with my life) but alas, they took their one last chance to make my day just a little more difficult. Ended up late for dinner because somehow picking up a watch took over an hour. They made me stand there and wait for another 45 minutes for another appointment. If I weren't so incapable of public confrontation I legitimately might have lost it, my wife - a long time Cartier aficionado - was blown away. Traumatic experience when one of my Cartier pieces broke abruptly during everyday wear. Took it to the mansion and was helped by Darlene, who was so so nice and empathetic, and even gave me chocolate after I broke down in tears due to the stress (lol.........) We went to check in at the podium and was told when a salesperson is available, they'll give me a ring. About 15min later, Christina had called and told us she is ready for us. Do not buy the Cartier Love Ring white gold ring, the larger version. The ring is uncomfortable and scratches really easily. There is no protective shield or glaze on the ring to protect it as you would expect it to be from a company considered to be luxury. The customer service is terrible. I had the ring for one week and returned it due to the unpleasant satisfaction. Cartier has had my ring for one month and after many phone calls and chasing for updates I was told I cannot return the ring due to deep abrasions. How does a $2,500 ring get deep abrasions in one week? They will not refund my money and sending me back a poor quality ring. You cannot buy in confidence with Cartier. I first went to the SOHO location and got 1 star review service. Went with my wife looking for wedding bands, soho sales associate had us sit upstairs and told us they could only show us 2 rings at a time. That's alright, if it's their policy it's ok. However everyone sitting around us were served drinks. In Cartier stores they usually ask you once you are seated. We watched as people came and left, saw multiple rings and jewelry at once, beverages served, and my wife and I just looked at each other wondering when they would ask us if we needed water as the soho sales associate went up and down getting different rings (2 at a time). Eventually I tell my wife, "Let's go, I'm thirsty." We left for the 5th Ave location, got addressed by name, saw whatever rings we wanted all together (probably like 6 or 7 rings displayed in front of us so we could see the difference. My experience at the Cartier 5th ave was disappointing initially. I had an appointment booked but i came in 15mins late. The person who took my name down told me that an SA that will be assigned to me and that he/she will just approach me. So i was just browsing the store and even went to the rest room. I'm terribly disappointed that Cartier doesn't stand by their product! I have an original Cartier Love bracelet that I've cherished for years. I've kept it in good condition. It broke recently and I brought it into the Cartier store and was met by staff who were not friendly at all and was told that the company cannot repair it. I was shocked that such a luxury brand would have such a poor customer experience. My only option would be to purchase a new one for retail price. This is unacceptable! Why would I purchase a new one if there's a chance that this could happen again? Then I'd be put in a similar bind with a second broken bracelet. A little intimidating at first, having to make an appointment beforehand to shop at Cartier. However, after setting foot in the store, I understood that this was a different kind of shopping experience that I am not normally accustomed to. The shopping experience was luxurious and pampered. We were offered bottles of Perrier and Evian while we waited for sales associated Christian to greet us. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the product line. He also politely conversed with us to get a sense of our story and why we were in town. It helped that we knew what we wanted, so the whole process was fast and efficient. Cartier did not have my ring size in stock so, Christian said he would order it and have it shipped overnight to me. The overnight shipping impressed me. Someone once told me, if money can't buy you happiness, then you're shopping in the wrong places. There might be some truth to that, because shopping at Cartier makes you feel like a VIP (even if you're not). The physical store of Cartier on 5th Ave is pretty beautiful with the winding wooden staircase, with black railing and intricate multi-level wooden panels on the wall. The amount of staff working there was also impressive. Everything was spaced out well and felt safe during this time of pandemic recovery. Maybe we'll end up shopping more at Cartier after this. So, they designed something for $$$$ and then planned to get another $$$$ due to designed worn parts. The bracelet was not abused in any way. The clasp was designed to wear and fail. Andrew Yuan at this location is a gem. I worked with Andrew on a particularly complicated situation that he handled with top-notch communication and kindness & I am so thankful for his help. I lost a Cartier bracelet that was luckily insured with a company that wires your jeweler the funds to get a replacement. Cartier isn't an independent jeweler, so this ended up being a far more complicated process than I'd anticipated. I called the Fifth Avenue mansion but the woman I spoke to over the phone had no idea how to handle my situation; I also reached out to a few ambassadors that me or my family have worked with in the past, all with the same result. Frustrated, I ended up posting in a Cartier Facebook group I stumbled upon (lol) and I asked if anyone had experience working with Cartier in an insurance claim. Andrew came across my post and responded with detailed information on how to go about the process. Turns out that he's an ambassador at the Fifth Avenue location I'm local to, and I ultimately worked with him throughout the entire process to get my replacement sorted out. Andrew was SO incredibly responsive, courteous, and professional -- he immediately sent over all of the necessary paperwork I needed to fill out, and kept me promptly updated as we waited for the insurance company to complete the wire transfer. Once Cartier received the wire, I made an appointment two days later with Andrew to pick out my replacement. The whole process ended up being a one week turnaround (!!) thanks to how prompt and knowledgeable Andrew was. During my in-person appointment, Andrew was as great as he was over texts. Super warm and personable, and knew SO much about the history behind all of the pieces and Cartier's origins -- he even gave me a tour of the entire mansion. My family and I have made various purchases with Cartier over the years, but rarely have I experienced the level of service Andrew provided me (with Cartier or other brands). She made us feel welcome from the start and didn't mind that we had our puppy with us. We sat upstairs at a private desk and didn't feel rushed. After I left my review in July, Cartier's rep on Yelp followed up with me and ask if they can have someone from HQ contact me to inquire more about my less than stellar experience. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM CARTIER ONLINE, THEY WILL REFUSE TO ACCEPT THE ITEM BACK IF IT DOES NOT FIT. I bought a $16000 Cartier Love Bracelet with 10 diamonds from Cartier through their online website for my Wife for Christmas 2022. It arrived and was too big. I sent it back to Cartier and after waiting a couple of months, they eventually said they could not accept bracelet in return because it was "scratched and dented". I literally had it on my Wife's wrist for about 1 minute and was extremely careful with it. After speaking with a succession of "Ambassadors", I was eventually denied being able to return the Bracelet because it was "not pristine". I was eventually able to get my money back through Visa. Thank God I bought the Bracelet with my Visa card and did not use my debit card. (Thank you Visa). In review of other customers reviews on other websites, it is obvious to me that Cartier has an established practice of refusing to allow returns of their jewelry due to the item not being "pristine". As I was, other customers are flabbergasted and distraught over the source of the damage of the returned jewelry. Is the return department of Cartier purposefully damaging the jewelry? Is the jewelry being damaged in shipment? Is the jewelry just in the same condition as it was shipped to the customer and being subjected to more stringent inspection upon return to Cartier? Who knows what is going on with Cartier online. I have ordered thousands of products online over the past 2 decades and I rarely return items. But when I do, I have never been denied a return simply because the item was tried on. If this is the modus operandi that Cartier online is going to follow, then they should just make it crystal clear that once you order jewelry from their online website, that the item is non-returnable. In the meantime, I would recommend to anyone reading this to be very careful if you order from Cartier online because there is a very good chance that they will not allow you to return it. This was my third visit to this Cartier (Flagship) store. Everytime I visit this world-renowned store it is well planned, of course, and a definite purchase. But today 7/19/19 was extra special. I came a bit scared and anxious. Let's be honest, when it is something special you wanted to make sure it will all fall into a perfect and memorable one. That being said, my friend & I, together with my special someone met MEI WU who just happen to finish assisting another customer. She was absolutely professional, unbelievably talented w/ excellent customer service and exceptionally efficient. Her expertise with Cartier made it so easy for me to wisely pick the best one. My friends & I love this Cartier Store and its location on Fifth Avenue. It is very elegant inside. It's decorations and interior designs are luxuriously appealing to us. It almost feel like it was talking to us to keep buying. Not a bad idea, we all know it is Cartier. (Just kidding) I highly recommend this Cartier Flagship Store and look for Mei Wu. This is for the Hudson Yards location. I had a phenomenal experience with Doni (sp?) the head of perfume at this Cartier location. She was truly spectacular to work with. She walked me through what was available, made me feel listened to and special and like we were finding the gift for my girlfriend together, to make sure it matched what my girlfriend likes.
