This watch store was recommended by the Seiko Boutique in NYC when I called them looking for Seiko JDM models. I contacted them first through their website and they were quick to respond to messages left through their site. I then called and spoke to Michael (for quite while) and he walked me through all of their inventory that he thought I would be interested in. Suffice it to say that they had many different models to choose from in my area of interest. I told them I was looking for a very nice Seiko for my 60th birthday. My wife and I then went there so I could try on some of the watches as Michael recommended. I can't recommend this store highly enough. Both Michael and Morris were knowledgeable, patient and most of all helpful. They are also genuinely nice people and treated us very well. I ended up buying a very nice watch at a VERY fair price. I should also add that this store sells a very nice variety of upscale brand with a variety to satisfy and watch geek or someone just looking for a nice watch. I just purchased a new Seiko Presage sharp edge GMT SPB217 with the indigo blue dial, from Joseph Edwards. They are the only dealer I could find in the New York area that actually stocks this little gem behind the counter; otherwise you have to buy it online. Evidently, this is driven by Seiko's in-house 28.8 kHz 29 jewel 6R64 movement. From what I read it has a modest +25/-15 second per day accuracy rating. All I know is I have worn this watch now continuously for 10 days and it has gained 6-7 seconds over the 10 days! That certainly surpasses COSC quality. The indigo blue hemp-leaf-patterned dial is certainly "the belle of the ball" which seems to dance in different lighting. The GMT hand and bottom half of the chapter ring are a beautiful salmon color which is a perfect contrast with the blue dial and bezel. While this watch would be considered a bit on the larger size by most, weighing in at just over 42 mm with a 49 mm lug-lug and a 13.7MM case height. However, the lugs are curved and with the "Seiko Magic" it looks great on my 7 1/4" wrist. This is also one of those time pieces that can look great with a T-shirt and pair of jeans as well as under a cuff with a business suit. One of the things that makes this watch unique as a GMT, is that it is a true Traveller's GMT. Meaning, that when you fly from New York to London, you simply pull the crown out by one click, and move the hour hand ahead 5 hours, while the GMT hands stays on NY time. The GMT hand is fixed and so is the bezel. You usually need to spend a minimum of $5000 to get this type of movement in a Swiss watch (e.g. Tudor or Rolex). Seiko Sharp edge GMT has an MSRP of $1,400. While $1,400 is certainly not cheap, it is a bargain for a "Traveller GMT movement." Similarly priced Swiss GMT watches usually employ a robust ETA or Sellita movement where the crown only adjusts the GMT hand. Don't get me wrong, these ETA and Sellita-based watches can also be great watches and these movements are tried and true. The off-the-shelf Swiss movements also have the advantage in the fact that any good watchmaker can repair them. However, if you are a watch geek, this beautiful Seiko sharp edge GMT line of watches are really something special, especially at this price point. The dial and bezel are dazzling and the finishing on the case, while not hand-polished like the Grand Seiko, is really quite elegant. Also as this is part of their Presage line, they have really upped their game on the bracelet. To be fair, I do have two complaints: First, there only 2 micro-adjust settings on the clasp. Second, while the watch does claim 100m water resistance, there is no screwdown crown. Common guys, what were you thinking!? If I travel to a hotel that has a pool, I am certainly not going to want to leave my watch sitting on the chair. Even if it is water resistant, I personally would never bring a watch without a screw down crown into the pool. If there was one more micro adjust and a screw-down crown, I would call this the perfect one-watch collection! Regardless, I am still really enjoying it and if you are a watch geek, I would certainly look at this little gem. And of course, Joseph Edwards, IMHO, is the perfect boutique dealer. I bought my first watch from them more than 30 years ago! They always seem to have that awesome "the customer is always right" attitude. Regarding watches, a more knowledgeable person than Morris you will not find. Once on the market for a new watch, I did my homework and narrowed down the selection to the top 5 with a specific favorite in mind before I started going to brick and mortar stores to make the pick. Though Joseph Edwards did not have the favorite watch I wanted to see, after talking about the design, movements, and value of all the brands I was interested in, for over an hour, I settled on my second favorite which was half the price of the favorite. This decision was completely condoned and supported by Morris. He had the opportunity to upsell me as I was looking at other brands pricier than my favorite, but instead gave me his honest opinion securing a customer for life. On top of that, the prices are competitive and customer service is excellent. It turned out my new watch was a dud as the chronograph would not reset to zero. After apologizing and trying to repair it once, he ordered a new watch straight from the manufacturer and offered to ship it to me for free as I wasn't sure when I would next be in the area. My new watch is now perfect and I couldn't be happier with it or with the entire staff who are all very friendly to boot. Thanks Joseph Edwards! read more

Recently got my watch repaired by the folks at Joseph Edwards - I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. First, they ended up being more than 50% less expensive the the average quote I received from a bunch of competitors I visited in the midtown area. Second, they were able to clearly and reasonably explain to all of the costs and timing requirements with a level of transparency that was far greater than the other watch repair shops I visited. Also, and this is hard to explain in words, but they just seemed much more trustworthy and less "sales-y" than the other repair shops. Went to another place for a battery replacement and they told me they would have charged $10 to remove links from the same watch. I brought my Movado here to have some links removed in late November. Only four months later, my watch fell off my wrist and had I not heard it hit the ground, it would have been lost forever. I returned to the store and explained the situation. Rather than being apologetic for the fact that I nearly lost my watch due to their faulty work, I was told that I would have to produce a receipt for the original service otherwise I will be charged for the repair. Had batteries replaced in my designer watch several times here. A premium price for batteries that don't last very long (less than a year). As a side note, if you call when they are closed (weekends), there is no message machine saying when they are open. I went there anyway since the hours listed here on yelp says they are open. Let me tell you all, I've bought watches around the world, in London, Paris, etc. I've found the experience at Joseph Edwards by far the best. They are courteous, friendly, and EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the watch industry. And they also offer the best prices in the city. Victor, the watchmaker and store owner, has fixed several watches for me, I've had horrible experiences with "butcher" watchmakers who make the problem worse than before. He had many beautiful watches and was extremely knowledgable about their style , function, and quality. My husband has been wanting to buy me a new watch, but would normally not walk into a store where he does not know the owner and purchase fine jewelry.
