It was easy to communicate & they were prepared when I arrived for my appointment. It is a very clean salon, which I've learned isn't easy to find in McHenry. They take pride in their place & it shows. Staff was nice & made you their focus which is always nice. No chip manicure - I went with French. Good job. I struggle to hav nail growth. I did feel like it was a rushed job, but it's been almost a week & they are doing well. My cuticles always need work & I am not that satisfied with how they look 5 days later. Standard pedicure - it was just that. No frills, but in a good way. They were mindful of water temp & your comfort. I asked for them to pick color since they know what looks best & is popular. Happy with the color. Nail shaping & cuticle's could have received more attention, but in no way was it a bad job. Also, probably needed color applied 3x vs 1. My heels are actually soft & they did very thorough pumice work. Many salons have drastically increased prices & its well over $100 for a mani & pedi which is why I hadn't been going as often as usual. Pricing here was very fair & what I think is reasonable: $65-70 No Chip $35 French Tip $5 Standard Pedicure $30 Customers were all also "kind" atmosphere & it wasn't a loud TV overly gossipy & judgy culture which is also great. I visit it on Monday and by Wednesday I already had splitting on the side and cracking. I came in for an acrylic fill-in with no chip polish that was $45 and then I also got a lavender pedicure which was another $45 and don't forget to add in the five dollar tip. I called today to get the four nails fixed and the lady told me that they do not guarantee their work for acrylic nails and that I could come in and get the four nails fixed for an additional $10. Really? I'm gonna be crazy enough to give you another $10 when you didn't guarantee your work the first time or get it right the first time? I came here for the first time on Saturday April 9th. The hostess was very rude. I finally had a day from working 12 hr.shifts and just wanted a simple French manicure on my real nails. My finger nails are long, healthy and strong. The woman at the front desk stated if I didn't get a no chip she wasn't responsible for my nails. She demanded I get no chip. I declined politely. I finished with my manicure at 4:40 p.m. I went to dinner and a play that night. I noticed at 8 p.m.my nails chipped on 2. I was so disappointed when I woke up at 9 a.m. All had chipped, the clear polish and cracked! I went to the nail salon, politely attempted to show the same woman my nails all but 3 had chipped even the white paint, she walked off in me! She DISRESPECTED ME , REFUSED to refund or paint my nails at least a OPI color and kept taking customers! She was very RACIST. All the patrons were shocked at her behavior. I came here with a date today and I was pleasantly surprised! Ample parking spots and easy to get to! The inside was just absolutely gorgeous and so clean! Very modern with the cutest decorations! A wood accent wall with fairy lights next to a faux greenery made the whole inside feel more homey. Beautiful and comfortable chairs! Probably the best chairs I've ever sat in in a salon. My nails came out better than expected!!! The perfect coffin shape! And it was quick! I was surprised at how fast I got done and the price wasn't bad at all! $55! I showed up right before they closed not knowing that they closed early for New Years and I don't know the nail techs name who did my nails but both her and the other guy waiting for me to be done were extremely nice and did not make me feel bad at all. Very expensive and no-chip manicure only lasted one week. Entire mani & pedi I was charged $80 and the service took 2 1/2 hours to complete.

Everytime I come Devin never fails me! Walk in with a hot mess situation with my nails and leave feeling good and looking better! Ive been going for over 5yrs now and am always satisfied. I first chose this salon because it was super convenient to where I was living at the time, I moved not terribly far away but still make the drive because I know the type of service and quality I receive everytime! The first time I went here I was pleased. But the reason for the bad review is the second time I came. I got a pedicure, the guy I had didn't seal the color in and he didn't clean up the sides of my toenail where the color bleeds. When I asked if he would pick a color for me because I wasn't sure he said "I don't have time for this". He was extremely rude. I also had a no chip color change. The lady scraped my nails so hard she hurt me. So the same rude guy took over and did my no chip. He didn't paint the full nail. You can see spaces that are not filled in. And when I asked him to fix my thumb nail because it was faded he gave me attitude and tried to say it was my fault. He didn't want to fix it until my daughter asked him to. Maybe it's my lack of girlie girl friends or because my mom is also equally low maintenance, but I don't know how to do the nail salon "thing." Seriously. In fact, I've had my nails done maybe twice in my life: disastrous gels (ouch) for Homecoming back in the day, and a regular manicure + polish back in the early college days when my cooperating teachers dragged me along with them (I was in their car and there was no chance of escape). So, yeah...despite my touting that I'm an independent woman and that I learn to do things because I have to, things in this realm elicit some anxiety. That said, tonight I used my handy Yelp app to search a nail salon near my mom's place and saw the great reviews for Valley Nails. I took a deep breath, walked in a little after 4, and asked about a no-chip manicure. The guy at the desk walked away and took over for a woman who was doing a pedicure. (It was actually pretty busy despite the time/it being a Wednesday!) Literally two minutes later I was at a station and getting my digits all 'did (French). I was in and out in about a half hour and pretty impressed with her handiwork. Maybe the After she finished the polish, she gave a brief relaxing hand massage. Likey! I AM pretty OCD and like the polish to cover every bit of the nail. The clear polish one mine isn't perfect (especially on the thumbs), but I guess it's not critical because it's not colored/obvious. Still, next time I'd probably ask for them to get as close to the sides/edges of my nails as possible. Also, I have some small bubbles in my white polish. Anyway, it was a pretty good experience for my first independent excursion to a nail salon. I'm sure I'll be back! read more

My nails turned out pretty, but the woman doing them had no customer service skills whatsoever. She was so busy texting on her phone that when she had me put my hand under the dryer, she forgot to turn it on. When she had me remove my hand, I tried to tell her, but she touched my nail, ruining the paint. She slammed her tool down and told me that I should have told her that the dryer wasn't on. She made other comments as well, but that was the one that stands out to me. I gave stars because Deven, who worked on my friend's complicated nail art, was amazing. He talked with her and her nails were gorgeous. I am going to request him when I have my nails touched up. read more

Every time I walk in the door or call they know exactly who I am. I go with my mom, sister, and gma sometimes and they remember things about me and my family. They always ask how everyone is doing. Every experience I have had with all of the employees have been great. I always get the no chip but sometimes I get my eyebrows and toes done. This place is pretty cheap for the cool designs that they know how to do. They are constantly getting new colors for the seasons. The no chip every once in a while will chip after a few days....that is the only downside. But they always have backed up their service by fixing it for free. I have tried multiple places in Mchenry and this is the only place where my no gel manicure has lasted over two weeks. I was shocked that the person I go to had another person scheduled an hour after my start time. I usually take longer than that, and just said Oh, usually it takes longer than that for my mani and pedi. Every time I visit this salon, it's a different experience. Sometimes, it's fine (not good, not bad), and other times it has been awful. Yesterday was one of those experiences. My fiancé's sister and I booked an appointment to get our nails done together, as it is the Homecoming dance for her this Saturday as well as my engagement party. We were instructed to sit at different tables while we waited for our techs. I pull out my phone to compare the color swatches to pictures that I have saved for what I wanted my nails to be. Within 30 seconds, my nail tech came over, sat down and held his hand out, gesturing for me to give him my hand so that he could begin. Not even a hello, just asked me if I wanted acrylic or gel and what shape. I awkwardly put the color swatches down, hoping he'll give me time to look at them later on. I try making small talk with him but he was not having it, which is fine. Meanwhile, my fiancé's sister has the loveliest tech who sat down with her at the same time my tech did, but has not begun to work on her nails yet, as they are still discussing color and design options. Which is what you should do at the beginning of an appointment. Fast forward a bit, my tech mutters "go rinse your hands." I do that, come back, and he asks what color I wanted. I pick up the color swatches and am sifting through when he asks me again what I want. I show him the picture of what I wanted and he points to a similar color on the swatches. I look for another color to accent, like in the picture I have, and he again asks me what I wanted. I hurried up and just picked a color, not even getting a chance to actually pick one out because he's getting irritated with me, and my design that I wanted was not going to happen at all. Finally, before he's about to paint my nails, I ask him if I could have one nail painted white with a simple glitter design. I show him the picture and ask him what he thinks about it. Without saying a word, he gets up to grab supplies. My fiancé's sister and I are looking at each other, wide eyed like "wtf just happened?" My face was burning because of how angry I was. I shouldn't have even asked for the glitter design since he was in such a hurry, because it did not come out well. He rushed through the entire process, finished my nails and I left him a decent tip, hoping he'd feel like an asshole for how rude and disrespectful he was. The icing on the cake was the fact that my fiancé's sister and I had begun at the same time, but her nail tech was so amazing and professional that they finished an entire half hour after I did. She did a similar design with an accent color as well but with glitter on three of her nails and they came out SO BEAUTIFUL. Some of the techs here are really good at what they do, but I would save yourself the time, money, and hassle and go somewhere else. read more

My husband booked me a manicure at 5:30pm today. (He called around 3:30 on the way home) the guy who is the owner told my husband anytime around 5 is ok. So we went there at 5:30pm and the owner said it's backed up and we needed to wait 20 minutes. We waited 20 minutes and saw people got there after us getting nails done before us. (I was sure that one of them were just walk-in appointment because she signed the walk-in paper and she got the service before us). I was a little upset and I asked him: how long we need to wait? The guy told me very mean: we are backed up. Calm down! My husband and I were shocked that he could be that disrespectful. I said: I'm calm. But we came here for a 5:30 appointment. The guy almost yelled at us: your husband called 10 minutes ago and he didn't even know what nails service to get!You should leave now!! It's unbelievable how a service treats their customers this way. I actually went there a couple times before because I live in the neighborhood. I LOVE this place, they are clean, nice, good products, and friendly and can speak English! The other girl who wrote the review, your gonna blame them for a no chip coming off after a week, you must not get your nails done often. Secondly I highly doubt the person would talk to you like that and if she did you must have brought it up that's just common sense. Clean, uncluttered, modern atmosphere! I had a "no chip" mani and regular pedi. The service was great and my nails looked perfect! I felt like I was able to communicate well with the person doing my nails and also felt that she understood me and was patient with me (I can be super picky!). Price was reasonable and service was exceptional! A couple notes, the selection of nail polish was good and organised by colour and brand - great for when you're in a hurry! No chip colours were on clear palates (instead of white) so the colours were easy to see; sometimes when colours are displayed on white palates, colours seem more opaque than they are. read more

To start, when I sat down and got started she didn't even file my nails, she started the dip right away (when my nails were clearly in need of a file) and then she started finished off by not even filing as I asked. I said very politely "Can I please have a soft square?" She said of course and then completely filled them down as low as they could go, but square so no room to fix. Then I asked if I could please have a gel top coat, and then refused as they don't like the way it looks. But, I have done that for years and have enjoyed the results, and at the end of the day I'm the one paying for a service. My nails look awful and the experience/attitude made it worse. read more

I love this place. The staff is super nice and professional, plus they do an awesome job! I never really expected myself to be the type of person to have a go-to nail salon, but now I do, and this is it! The no chip polish is the only way to go, and it lasts longer than it takes for my nails to grow out. I have been going there for a long while now and I've never missed an appointment. I made an eyebrow wax appointment and was unable to make it due to my father being in the hospital on an emergency. So I called today to make another appointment and the owner says " you didn't come last time " and I said " yes my father was in the hospital it was an emergency" all he said was "well next time you need to call." We walked in and the woman in charge didn't acknowledge us and then after waiting she told us she couldn't help us because she was too busy.
