From start to finish - Beyond excellent service and communication! Leave it to fate that my HVAC…read morewould completely die the day before the massive heatwave. After band-aiding the unit for years to get marginal cooling, the system finally up and died. I can't say it was unexpected - at some point - but now...when it's 105 degrees outside? I reached out to Ernie based on the other very favorable reviews on Yelp. He arrived promptly and didn't beat around the bush, providing a competitive quote. While I thought maybe now was the time to go up a ton in cooling (while also switching to a heat pump), he didn't think it was necessary based on the size of the house, so I went with his recommendation. I also asked for a couple additional vents where I was missing cooling (like in the kitchen) and he added them for a minimal cost, along with a smart thermostat that would maximize the unit's performance through its variable speed motors. We set the appointment for the install 2 days later on a handshake and an online quote approval. The day of, the crew showed up at 7:30am on the dot. Within 2 hours, the old unit was removed (including the roof mounted condenser - pulled off by a crane) and they were at work preparing for the new unit. It was 89 degrees inside my house at this point and these guys are up in my attic...which I know had to be well over 100 degrees. They stopped only long enough to take a short lunch break and were right back at it. By 4pm, the unit was up and running and I was given a short demo on how to connect my phone to the thermostat, change the settings, and voila...the unit was cooling. The amount of air being put out by this unit blew my old unit away. Eventually, the family, the cats, and the dogs finally went to sleep while the house cooled down from several days of built up heat. At 2am, I woke up freezing to death - forgetting that the system had been set to 68 degrees and full blowing fan. I reached over and grabbed my phone and shut the system off, sufficiently frozen for the remainder of the night - and so happy I literally wanted to cry. So what can I say about Ernie himself? He came through - his team came through - in our most dire moment of need. No sales pressure or shady tactics, no games - just complete honesty, transparency, and understanding of our situation. It's a big expense when it hits you out of the blue, and Ernie was patient and compassionate when it took a few days to organize our finances to cover it. I would 100% recommend Ernie and Upright Construction & HVAC if you're ever in need of an HVAC unit. Unfortunately, because the system works so well, it's unlikely I will get the experience of working with him again for HVAC, but hey...he does other stuff too and my wife's wheels are already spinning with some other construction-related "desires" - so I'm sure I'll see you again Sir!

Mike's Air was fantastic. I can't recommend them highly enough, especially Slava, the technician…read morewho took care of us. Our A/C stopped working during a stretch of 100-degree weather. The first company I called I asked if he did repairs or only replacement systems. He said, "I do repairs. That's why it's in the name!" "Great!" I thought. When he checked our system he told me the compressor was bad, which was expected. I asked if he could replace it with a new or reconditioned compressor, but he said no, because the system was about 10 years old and used an older refrigerant. He said the only option wasto replace the entire system. He also said we had an asbestos-wrapped pipe that would need to be removed by another company before he could do the work. He offered to get me in contact with that company, but never did, even after I followed up. So, in the meantime I decided to call Mike's Air. It was late on a Friday. We had Slava out by Monday. He checked the system, confirmed the compressor was bad, and gave me a very different answer: yes, the compressor could be replaced. He was straightforward about the pros and cons of buying an entirely new system vs just replacing the compressor. No selling. Just facts. The price for replacement was very reasonable compared to a full system, so I figured it only has to last about 4 years for it to pay off vs buying a new system now. I gave the deposit and about a week later the compressor arrived. Slava came out the very next day -- on a Saturday -- and installed it. Everything is working again and we couldn't be happier. Not just cuz we saved money (short-term), but I felt confident that Slava was doing a professional job. What impressed me most was that Slava/Mike's Air actually gave us a repair option instead of automatically pushing a full replacement. Slava was knowledgeable, straightforward and professional throughout the entire process, as was Rhea back at Mike's. Highly recommended.

Luis also worked on the outside unit. They were vacuuming and cleaning up by 4:30 pm. The price was exactly as quoted. It was a very fair and reasonable price.
