And that is before you take in the beauty of the river right off your patio and rafting, the views of the Sawtooths and the wonderful meals at Limberts, Stanley bakery, Sawtooth Hotel or the Stanley Supper club. When you first walkup to the hotel, you are met with a very rustic, cabin-esque hotel building where you wouldn't expect to find such a fine dining experience. We were sat outside which presented the opportunity to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Sawtooth Mountain range. We ordered several dishes for our meal and every dish was just as amazing as the other! Bigwood Baguette: This was a great start to the meal! The baguette was baked to perfection and had the perfect amount of crunch to it. It comes topped with an herb oil and sea salt which added the most flavorful touch. Soup of the Day: Their soup of the day was a White Bean stew topped with rosemary and hern olive oil. The stew was rich without being too heavy and the seasoning was perfect. Soy Glazed Brussels: The soy sweet chili glaze had such a nice balance of sweetness and the slightest hint of spice. The crispy rice noodles and crumbled peanuts added such a nice textural contrast to the Brussel sprouts, which in my opinion were cooked to perfection! They were seared well without being too burnt or crispy. Beets & Burrata: Hands down one of the highlights of the whole meal. This dish came with a handful of components, that when paired together into one bite on a crostini, resulted in the most delicious amuse-bouche. The burrata was so light and fresh and I never knew that it was the perfect pairing with beets on a crostini. A MUST have. Columbia River Grilled Steelhead: Absolutely stunning. The Steelhead was executed beautifully and the mushroom asparagus risotto was cooked to perfection. Honestly, compliments to the chef for what seemed to almost be an experimental pairing with adding the sweet pesto and blueberry gastrique. Never could have I imagined these flavors being paired together atop a piece of salmon and I will not ever soon forget how flawless this dish was. Pork Schnitzel: This was my husband's dish which I did not have a bite of, but from what I could tell, the Pork Schnitzel was very well done. It was thinned out and tenderized very well and the breading looked like it was golden-crisped wonderfully. I did get to try the mashed potatoes and can remark that they were some of the best I've had! I had some of the lemon caper beurre blanc that was drizzled atop the dish and I would do anything to be able to have a jar of that at home. I am going to talk about this meal for a long time. If you are ever passing through Stanley, Idaho, it would be a giant mistake to not visit the restaurant at the Sawtooth Hotel.

With this many people, I hoped the staff would have given us more. But the staff were helpful with a requested late checkout and getting us an additional room at the last minute. The ac/heat works well along with the fridge. We didn't use the microwave or TV. The shower head was broken in the single bathroom in this room. Overall it's nothing bad or good. We got what we needed and had an enjoyable stay.

We decided to sit on the deck which was open. We ate a variety of items from taco salad, to chili to chicken friend steak to pasta. I had the Killer pasta with chicken which was very tasty. The deck has a covering but to me, it was still hot outside. Cold waters were served right away and food came out pretty quick. Stanley is a cute city and the Mountain Village Resort is a great place to eat. If I come back to go fishing here, I will definitely be back to eat at this restaurant!

Came with friends to hike the Sawtooths for a couple of days. Cabin had 2 queen beds: one in the…read moremain room and one in enclosed bedroom. Electric baseboard heat. Cabin was clean, and the venue quiet, but could have used some TLC: Kitchenette sink and shower water supplies are hooked backwards (cold where hot should be). Not a big deal in the kitchenette, but a scald hazard in the shower. Electric outlet near the kitchenette sink was defective -- only one side of the duplex outlet worked. And the lighting over the table was horrible. Difficult or impossible to do any reading or play games that required reading without using our headlamps. Bedroom door difficult to close against the threadbare carpet underneath it. Needs some attention from a circular saw. Entry door locks have also seen better days; I suspect the fit between the locks and their strike plates was better when first installed. Perhaps previous guests have made off with a mid-sized pot from the kitchenette? All we found was a large pot (sufficient for cooking pasta) and one sized for a pint's cooking. Something in-between would be a great addition.

Our cabin was nestled right next to the river, overlooking gorgeous unbroken views of the surrounding valley and snow frosted Sawtooth mountains. At night there were millions of stars, so bright & big you felt like you could reach out and touch them. Our cabin was a delight. It was clean clean clean, brand new ultra comfy mattresses, with soft, fluffy linens complemented the rustic golden original pine walls, ceilings and decor. Intelligent planning blended the best of the old with the new. We loved having a well stocked little kitchen with all the necessary tools & equipment to help you feel comfortable if you wanted to cook. So enjoyed sitting on our personal deck, drinking the delicious coffee and nibbling on the chocolates they gave us, while watching the morning mist rise up off the river. It looked like a magical fairyland. The places to hike to were endless. We Loved the bird watching! We even hung out with a bald eagle while strolling along Redfish Lake. Highly recommend enjoying the brand new sauna. It gets HOT! Then if you're into cardiac arrest you can jump into the river or do the cold plunge barrel. The large middle cabin with its larger kitchen, rooms and spacious deck also overlooking the river, provided the perfect meeting center for our group (we varied from 10-18) to gather for meals, games and sharing the day's events.
