We have eaten at the lodge before, the before dinner snacks were good and our entrees were excellent, although neither of us cared for either saled we were served. The issue is that this was NOT a very relaxing dinner, we set near a large group of young undisciplined kids whose parents had little or no control of them, the dinner was NOT very peaceful and as my wife said, she now has this location out of her system and we will not care to frequent again. *This review is a reflection of upper management, not the seasonal workers.* We paid $1,177 per night for one of the worst vacations we've ever been on. Upon arrival, we were told that the only time they could accommodate us for dinner was an hour later than we normally eat. Odd, and frustrating because I'm breastfeeding so that forced me to adjust certain things. After that, we were pointed ambiguously in the general direction of our cabin and left to bring our stuff to our room - no offer to help with our luggage or show us where we were staying. The pillows placed on the bed had to be 10+ years old. The feathers were clumped together so badly it felt like someone had stuffed the pillowcase with a bunch of tennis balls. We have a baby so getting a cumulative four hours of sleep on vacation was infuriating. The guests in the cabin next to us arrived at midnight so we were woken up by rolling suitcases, shutting doors, and talking. (At this point, my husband was considering sleeping in our car for the remainder of the night.) For $1k+ a night you get to share a thin bedroom wall with other guests. It's kind of like a Motel 6 but with Ritz Carlton prices. There's no mini-fridge in the room, and they couldn't provide one. During the whole stay, I was putting my breastmilk in the kitchen fridge that the staff used. The breakfast is the same six options every day; nothing inspired. There's a coffee table in the corner so anytime you want a refill during your breakfast, you're getting up yourself. If you want it to go, bring your own Yeti, because they don't have sleeves for the thin, paper to-go coffee cups. Want coffee in your room in the morning? Forget it; there's no coffee maker. Get dressed and hike up to the lodge. Need an extra towel or water glass? Grab your shoes, you're going for another walk. There's no phone in the room to request any missing or extra items. For lunch, they offer a sack lunch where they insist you choose a sandwich OR a salad, not both, which is hysterically cheap. You pick them up in the morning, so by the time you eat either option, it's ~5 hours old. You want to eat a warm lunch not in a brown paper bag like you're back in elementary school? Forget it. The lodge doesn't serve lunch. The hot spring pool is beautiful, but a half mile drive down the hill from the lodge, and not staffed. Forget having anyone at the lodge show you the way. It's behind a private residence too so we tentatively approached unsure of whether we were trespassing. As mentioned, there's no staff down there so you're left to your own devices finding towels, the restrooms, water, etc. We did enjoy wine that we purchased (most certainly not all inclusive, and they also charge a corkage fee for any wine you bring yourself), on our shared porch. The porch has one table and two rocking chairs that you share with the same guests you share the bedroom wall with, so only one couple can sit at a time, while the other guests are 10 feet away in their bedroom. It's really exciting getting to share your wedding anniversary with another couple as they overhear your porch conversation. It's a good opportunity to practice negotiation skills, like, "We can see you would also like to use the porch, can we have 10 more minutes, and then we'll go in our room and you guys can come out?" Things like that. I would have happily shared this feedback with the manager, Ryan, when we were checking out; however, literally the only question he asked us was if we wanted to leave a tip. There was zero curiosity whatsoever as to whether we enjoyed our stay. Pros: Mary Pat and Grace are absolutely phenomenal staff members. The views were indeed beautiful, and that seems to solely be what this venue is relying on and counting on people to remember when they're paying the bill at the end of their stay. For nearly $1,200/night, I'd sooner camp in the Sawtooth's and light that money on fire to keep myself warm before staying at the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch again. It is with much sadness and despondency that write this review. We had such high hopes as we had heard nothing but good things from friends and family about the Idaho rocky mountain ranch. Rather than bore you with the details of the poor management, lack of communication, noisy accommodations, and over exaggerated luxury, concomitant with google review character limits; The review below will be brief. Hits - Beautiful views of the sawtooth mountains - Hot Springs pool - Fireplaces in each room - Seasonal staff; Mary-Pat and Grace were phenomenal - Happy hour Pizza Misses - You will have to cart your belongings anywhere from 20-125 yards from where you park. There are no golf carts or staff to help with this, only a quick explanation during check-in of where your cabin is. - Shades are opaque, not black-out as advertised - Pillows were flat and lumpy, our first night, I got 3 hours of sleep because of the poor quality of pillows. - There is No phone in the room to report any missing items or discuss any issues that come up. You must hike the 100yrds to the front desk. - Shared walls are thin; Each cabin (outside of the honeymoon suite) shares a wall. We could hear every word spoken and every suitcase hit the floor when our wall mates arrived for a late-night check-in. - Coffee - Coffee is located in the lodge, not in your room. Again, you must hike up to the lodge if you would like a morning cup. - Meals - This one fell into the miss category as the food is ok. Not bad, not great, just ok. For the price of accommodations, I expected better. - Management/Staff availability - After having several issues, we tried to bring them to light with the onsite manager (Ryan). He was mildly apologetic. Upon checkout, there was no interest or question of "how was your stay" or anything of the like. They did however ask if we would like to leave a tip. This came across as completely tone-deaf. They are focusing on the wrong things. Lastly, there is no direction as to how to enjoy the onsite activities. Want to paddleboard on the pond? Rent fishing poles? Go to the hot spring? You must hunt down the front desk person or one of the seasonal staff to inquire. Overall, I was very saddened by this experience. This was the first time my wife and I had been away since we had our daughter and had such high expectations given the reviews. We were hoping for a break from the baby and to sleep through the night without interruption, this was not the case. Given the price point of the condo-cabins here, I would expect a higher level of service. Given what they charge a night, I cannot feel anything less than extreme buyer's remorse. A year after reading a feature on IRMR in Sunset magazine, my husband and I arrived for our belated honeymoon. We decided to put our money into the honeymoon instead of the wedding, so that meant two things: 1. We spent a pretty penny on this trip and 2. We had very high expectations. And everything was perfect. The service was great, from managers Erica and Sandra to the summer, just-out-of-college staff that checked you in, served you breakfast and dinner, and helped you plan your excursions, everyone made us feel so welcome and as part of the ranch as they were. When we checked out, we truly felt that they were genuinely as sad to see us leave as we were sad to go! The honeymoon cabin was spacious and cozy at the same time. Despite the lack of TV or alarm clock, it was only rustic in terms of (very carefully planned) decor. The bed and shower were both so comfortable and nice. The only improvement would have been the addition of a tub; but it is a cabin, after all. While the service and accommodations were superb, the real star of IRMR is the food. The culinary school that can call Chef Jim Roberts an alum should be proud. My husband and I both agreed that on the first night we experienced the "Country Fine Dining" menu (which happens four times a week), we had the best meal of our lives. The other meals throughout the trip--even breakfast and the deli spread for lunch, which you pack yourself--were fantastic as well. IRMR exceeded all but two of my expectations. The first expectation was that I thought there would be some sort of campfire at some point (perhaps after the Dutch Oven Cook-Out), since the whole experience reminded me of camp, and what's camp without a campfire and s'mores? That said, our cabin had its own fireplace, and the one in the lodge was always impressive. The second expectation was in regards to housekeeping. They do come in each day to make your bed and straighten up, but the degree to which they do it is a bit odd, as we would be missing soap or have full trash cans when returning from an adventure some days. Most people furrowed their brows when we told them we were honeymooning in Idaho. Thanks to IRMR, I can confidently say that besides eloping, it was the best wedding-related decision we made. Exceptional vacation spot in Idaho with a very alpine setting. If you look for a rustic, yet small/upscale vacation spot with superb food and excellent outdoor activities, this is the place ! The setting is very much like the Grand Tetons, but without the crowds. The place attracts a lot of older couples and young families with kids from 2-15. You can spend as much or as little time with your fellow vacationers, but interaction is highly encouraged and makes for a great vacation. The lodge has never more than 50 guests which is about 10-12 parties. All meals are included in the deal. Breakfast offers a multitude of cooked to order dishes, lunch is a make your own sandwich bar and dinner by Chef Jim is outstanding and highlights french techniques (acquired at the CIA and multiple stints in NY and Seattle) combined with new American Cuisine. Think Elk tenderloin with truffled leeks, wild salmon with champagne sauce.............. or just a really good BBQ rib. We had many great conversations with other guests over a glass of wine or at a shared table. The place is more comparable with a European vacation setting (although the Europeans haven't discovered it yet), and focuses on a relaxed, comfortable, yet upscale experience. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Free access to Specialized Mountain Bikes and Horseback Riding included. You can do as much fishing, whitewater rafting and hiking as you like, or just sit on the deck and read a book. We will definitely be back! read more

This is only for the restaurant, I'm sure the resort has earned their high ratings. We came here for dinner only, and our experience was not that great. None of the desk staff was welcoming or friendly, not rude, just sort of blah. Same with the wait staff, hard to get a smile out of them, very businesslike and curt. The food had been touted as being extraordinary. The appetizer course was great, inventive choices, but the entrees were very disappointing. I had the Alaskan halibut, which was way overcooked and dry. Why can't a chef in an upscale place like this cook fish? Ruined it. My wife had a mushroom dish that was okay, but within 20 minutes of leaving the restaurant she became nauseous. The next day the sickness was worse, full on food poisoning, violently ill, ruined our return trip home. There is zero doubt what happened here. Oh, the desserts were also very good. Avoid the mushrooms and the fish, or maybe better yet, find another place to eat and just enjoy the lovely view and a glass of wine at sunset, can't go wrong there. read more

My husband and I moved ourselves across the country, east to west, for our honeymoon, and the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch was our last stop before our new home in Seattle. I had told my husband to "go ahead and book our honeymoon spot... you know what I'd like to do." So he did. And boy did he get it right!! This place was phenomenal. I was expecting a cabin and a horse ranch. What we got was better than I could've imagined. The cabin was incredible; outfitted with big, fat wooden furniture, a stone shower (big enough for two...), and a super cozy, wood fireplace. The dining hall was not just for food, but for gourmet meals and making friends with other visitors, and the lobby was so welcoming with the HUGE fireplace, couches, coffee, blankets, and board games. The porch was probably my favorite part; to sit in a rocking chair under a blanket with my husband and watch the sun go down with a glass of wine... exactly how I pictured my honeymoon with my new sweetheart. The local activities were great also. The staff were very helpful in helping us plan out our day, whether it was hiking, boating, or horseback riding, they had a map and a plan and lots of tips. This place was legitimately better than I could've dreamt up and I hope to go back for our anniversary very soon! read more

My family and I stayed here a few years ago while on vacation. We have nothing but fond memories of this place! There was so much to do (fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, etc) and everyone was very nice. The cabins were very comfortable and the main lodge was beautiful. We all liked to sit outside on the huge porch each evening and chat with people we'd met that day - I even made some friends that turned into pen pals! The location is perfect and the ranch is really a great place to sit back, relax, and enjoy your surroundings. read more

this place is much nicer than redfish lake lodge in terms of dining, common areas and cabins but the people are more upscale too - more uptight and asshol-ish, which is what you trying to avoid on vacation in the mountains right? but if you want to spend more time in a pool and hanging around a resort, then come here instead of the redfish lodge. also, the view of the sawtooth mountains is slightly more impressive because you are further away than the redfish lodge, which is right next to them read more

I decided to join a group of women going to the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch for a fitness retreat that was organized by a gym I belong to in Newport Beach, Ca. What an amazing experience we had. The food was absolutely incredible, the cabins were charming with a large bathroom/shower, fireplace and were decorated in a tasteful rustic style. The lodge is comfortable and the porch very inviting with its big oversize chairs and amazing views. The management team and staff were very accommodating to our needs. There are plenty of activities to fill your days or it's an inviting place to put your feet up and read a book. I loved it and would definitely go back. read more
