After our hike to waterfall. Boat across the lake $25 for adults, $3 for dogs.
    Amy W.

I was in the immediate area camping for 9 days and spent some time hanging out at lodge. One day we rented an outboard motorboat. Even my dog was allowed to go on it. Two hours was more than enough time to see the entire lake. Another day we took the shuttle boat across the lake to hike to a beautiful large lily pad pond and a gorgeous waterfall. Humans were $25 each for the boat, only $3 for the dog! Well worth it. One day there was a huge thunderstorm. My dog and I sat at the lodge snuggled up and watched the entire storm from beginning to end. It was really amazing as we don't have those types of storms where we live. One day while we were doing laundry close by we decided to have breakfast at the lodge. Small menu, great quality! The 3 of us all had eggs Benedict. $14! And SO good! Bonus points for great service! When we arrived we were sat in the front. My dad, who worked in construction all his life, is a bit hard of hearing. The music and other patrons made it so he couldn't hear anything. The sweet waitress (stupid me I didn't get her name) noticed right away. Offered to turn down the music, then decided to just move us to the back of the restaurant where no one else was sitting. This made all the difference for my dad. I'm super impressed that we didn't have to ask. The waitress just saw the issue and took it upon herself to make it better. Honestly that rarely happens in my experience. She also told us a few local secrets, like where the lesser known hot springs are. She was a total sweetheart and very much deserved the 45% tip my dad gave her. Since we didn't stay at the lodge I can't say anything about the rooms but every worker we encountered was super nice and helpful. And the lodge itself was so cool in such a beautiful spot. We love the redfish lodge!

Recently visited for a wedding and while beautiful, it's a bit remote. So, just keep in mind that you aren't likely to have wifi or service for the duration of your stay. Stayed for three nights in one of the fishhooks cabins and the proximity to the lodge and lake cannot be beat. Pros: It's friggin beautiful The staff are incredibly nice. Literally all of them. There is tons to do: fishing, boating, hiking, biking. The drinks and food on site are seriously delicious. Cons: With no service or wifi it is incredibly hard to coordinate with people who may be staying in town or camping near by. The accommodations are expensive/not great: Our cabin was $299 a night and was an actual log cabin (where the air and light from outside seeps in) and a pretty dated bathroom with very little light. It was super super hard to see things inside and the whole house creaks at the slightest movement which can make it hard to sleep with multiple guests. The bed was super firm and not all the cabins have an iron. Overall, a pretty fantastic stay but they book a literal year in advance and the cabins are just too expensive for what they offer.

We visit the area regularly, but are normally camping. We splurged this time and stayed in Lodge room #10 which looks out over the lake. It is a cozy room with a big fluffy bed and an electric fireplace for ambiance. There is a sink/vanity in the room and the bathrooms are across the hall. The shared bathrooms are very nice and clean. We had a lovely dinner prepared by Chef Jake and enjoyed some libations in the bar with their friendly staff. This is our happy place, so every visit is very special.

    The Lodge

We had such a great time staying in the Lodge, I almost hate to tell people to come up because we like to keep it a secret, but I think the secrets out and everyone knows how wonderful it is up here if you have a chance, you definitely must stay!

Redfish Lake is a treasure hidden in the sawtooth mountains of Central Idaho. I would highly recommend setting aside time to make the trip to Redfish and enjoy the many hikes, rivers, waterfalls, and of course the beautiful lake with views of Heavens Gate. My wife and I were married here last year and came back for our 1 year and will be making many more trips. This place will forever be a home away from home for us.

Annual Redfish getaway in books. It's highlight for us each and every year. So much so we do it for anniversary for over 15Y and counting

Don't waste your money. Rented a cabin for three nights and we're extremely disappointed. To start, the comforter had someone else's blood stains on the duvet cover, Disgusting! The pillows and mattress here are the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on. The mattress is so terrible we can actually feel the springs in the lumpy bed and after just one night both my spouse and I have terrible back pain. Such poor quality beds that we wanted to leave early! The room has a fireplace and when we arrived the room was left so Smokey that it burned our eyes and throat and we had to leave door and windows open in the cold night air just to get some fresh air so we could sleep. We are not impressed with the cleanliness, there are several cobwebs in the room and the bathroom walls look gross and dirty, like they've never been wiped down. For the amount of money we paid, I expect a lot more. I will say that views here are wonderful and the restaurant, Limberts, had excellent food. The quiet hours start at 10 pm yet the lodge allowed several very loud and obnoxious drunks to party on the back porch near our cabin until almost 11pm, when my spouse had enough and had to go ask a manager to take care of the noise. The walls in the cabin are also paper thin and we could hear our neighbors entire conversations as well as their crying baby most of the night. This was NOT the relaxing retreat we were looking for. I will not be a returning customer here. Our entire stay has been a huge disappointment. We were really looking forward to this and we waited a long time to come here, unfortunately it was a huge let down - from the dirty room and blood stains, to the terrible beds and surrounding noise. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to stay and come here to Visit for day use only.

Let me say that if you read a semi bad review for this place, reviewers have no clue that we are in the mountains. Th view of the Sawtooth mountains off the lake, the hiking, the lake itself and the food all is amazing. The people here are great. It's awesome to see families come and enjoy nature at its best. My wife and I checked in to the only room available at the lodge in August, it has a queen bed, a sink and a great fan that installs to the window and you get both fresh air and create white noise.... The food was a true experience; their chef is from LA and produced amazing dishes for us. This is just an an awesome place to stay and enjoy. We will be back. Enjoy!

Excellent accommodations and amazing food in Limbert's! The shower in cabin 39 was unbelievable! Instant hot water and powerful water pressure. The managers of both the lodge and Limbert's went out of their way to ensure that our stay exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back next year!

I'm glad I picked Middle Fork Rapid Transit and The Middle Fork river. Great food and great guides. One of the owners (Grant) came along for the first two days of the trip before flying out. Grant often answered the phone and answered all my questions. This is the only river they do and being family owned, is what helped sell me on rafting with them. They even accomdated my camper that I needed to plug in for the week I was gone so the batteries would stay charged. They also offer a discount on return customers. One old timer on our trip came back just about every year. .

The crew was so friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, and went out of their way to make us comfortable and happy. We had beautiful trombone music in the evening and again in the morning, signaling breakfast. The food? Well, suffice it to say, I actually gained 2 lbs! Gourmet food...delicious! Everything was so well organized and easy. The people we traveled with have become lifelong friends now. The Middle Fork? Gorgeous, breathtaking...and the guides knew stories and geological information that was really interesting and educational as well. Tim & I highly recommend this trip. You'll love it!!!

You may also be reading about Rocky Mountain River Tours for the Main Salmon trip, I cannot speak to that, but I know you'll be in good hands there too! Not a river-rat? No problem! But, there is something in you that is drawn to the Middle Fork, as are thousands each year. I am here to tell you that the best crew to do it with is Rocky Mountain River Tours. I would highly recommend RMRT, they're organized, efficient, friendly and experts on the river and off the river with delicious food and comfy camps. I have done other over-night and day rafting trips in Idaho, and I will say that there is something truly magical about the Middle Fork. And, more importantly, there are many magical, fantastic things about Rocky Mountain River Tours. I don't want to give away too much about the Middle Fork itself, but I will tell you all about Rocky Mountain River Tours. First, your trip will begin in the ugly Stanley, Idaho (it's beautiful, but ssshhh, we want it to stay a secret). You will meet Jared, the owner of RMRT, he is one hell of a river-expert and is super organized. He will provide with all of the needed gear, dry bags, wetsuits, tent, etc. He is great at answering all of your questions because trust me, you will have a lot. Jared is also the best because the morning you leave for your trip, he'll let you load the bus 10 minutes before the Stanley Baking Company opens so you have plenty of time to get in line. Trust me, this is a must. Get fuel for your first day on the river! Okay, so you got your belly full of Stanley's finest, you're on the school bus and ready to go to the best classroom in the world, the Middle Fork! Jared will provide you with some of your first lessons of the trip, interpretive tidbits on the way. Forest fire information, plant identification, where to look for elk and wolves, the works. After a long bus ride through the beautiful, I mean ugly and horrible, backwoods of Idaho, you're at the famous, Boundary Creek, the put-in for the Middle Fork of the Salmon. YES! This is a busy place considering you're in the middle of nowhere. Boats, dogs, kayaks, people everywhere. Now, this is important, use the bathroom here! Then make your way to the lead guide for RMRT. Fritz was ours, and he was the best. The guide will give you all the necessary safety information and make sure you have what you need. Then, to the boats! I could on and on about the details, but for the sake of brevity, I will leave you with some important points. 1. Ride with different guides throughout the trip and day. Each guide has a specific set of skills and they all have different backgrounds that brought them to the river. Don't worry, they are all expert whitewater guides and will keep you safe. 2. Get on the paddle boat! It's a fun way to get immersed in the river, but not for a swim...maybe. 3. Hike above camp! 4. RMRT has the BEST food of any trip I've ever been on. Hot carrot cake on the Middle Fork? Yes. And it is best carrot cake you'll ever have, I promise! 5. Ask questions! The guides are all super nice, patient and want to share their information with you. With that said, dig into the library and learn more about where you are! 6. TIP THE GUIDES! These guys and gals work so hard and often live on their tips, so make sure to have some cash or a check with you at the end. 7. Have fun. Take hikes. Write. Take pictures and live it up! RMRT is your group, no need to look any farther. Enjoy the Middle Fork!

Staff were very conscientious about safety. The lunch was more adventurous than I was expecting--grilled chicken, tzatziki, couscous, and a vegetable salad, with PBJ sandwiches as an option, and ridiculously good, freshly baked chocolate chip or blueberry & lemon cookies. Our guide Joey was knowledgeable and entertaining. During the day we saw lots of wildlife: tons of trout jumping at caddis flies, a mink, deer, merganser ducks, and multiple bald eagles, golden eagles, and ospreys. The river itself is beautiful. A few tips: You can bring additional food or beverages and leave them on the bus, which meets the party at the lunch spot. Several groups rafting with us brought small coolers with their own drinks and snacks. Probably a great idea if you have any food restrictions. It's recommended that you leave any valuables or electronics (or other water-sensitive items) in your car or in a lockbox with the staff. The guides have some limited room in a dry bag for phones or cameras, but it's not the most convenient to be taking a phone out of the drybag and putting it back in. You will not have cell service most of the day anyway, which was actually rather relaxing. Even the town of Stanley doesn't have great cell service in areas, so you may want to set up an "away" or "do not disturb" notice for the day. Sunblock and a hat are helpful; you'll be in the open sun on the water for most of the day. Highly recommend this company for rafting in Stanley.
