I would recommend this company. I had a city tree lifting the city sidewalk making it dangerous for people to walk. Anybody who has dealt with city permits know how much a pain in can be to work with them. Juan and Jennifer made it super easy. The city required plans to be submitted several times. They also required multiple inspections and Juan met the inspector at each one. Jennifer coordinated the multi day event and kept me updated on the progress. The workers were very neat, and cleaned up the area. I couldn't be more happy working with this company. read more

We received repair notice from San Jose trees and sidewalk office, to perform concrete sidewalk grinds. We sent out a few requests in Yelp. Valley Concrete responded quickly w/ competitive quote. Carmen has been very responsive, explains the process and said she will send notice to city for inspection to city after the job is done and guarantee the pass. There are 9 places to be fixed, the worker showed up twice. In the first time, machine broke down so they have to wait a few days for the part. After ~ 1 month the job was done, after about another month received the letter from city that the repair passed inspection. read more

If you get the dreaded bright green neon spray paint on the sidewalk in front of your house from the city of San Jose sidewalk division, I highly recommend working with Valley Concrete for your repairs! We reached out to the recommended vendors, because there was no way I was going to pay the city's quote, which was outrageous. Valley Concrete's quote was fast, easy to get through email, and more affordable than their major competitor (like, hundreds of dollars cheaper). Carmen was great to work with. When we had a snag with waiting for the arborist and our sidewalk was not filled for a few extra days, Carmen was really responsive by phone and email. I highly recommend working with her. The crew did a great, efficient job, carefully going around some larger roots (because we do want to preserve the life of our trees) and patching some dirt that was removed from our lawn. No one thinks to save for sidewalk replacement and it's an unfortunate aspect of being a homeowner in San Jose. Now that I've replaced over 200 sq. ft. of sidewalk (and fully intend on taking it with me when I move-- I am the petty B who will remove that sidewalk because I paid for it!), I definitely would recommend Valley to anyone who has to replace sidewalk! My 2 neighbors and I received a total of 4 quotes to repair the City of San Jose's sidewalks in front of our homes. Valley was the second to lowest price but the lowest priced company was not being very responsive to us so we decided to go with Valley. I have had Valley Concrete do all of my hardscape work for over fifteen years. They have poured concrete steps and slabs, did stamped concrete (dragon fly, hummingbirds), poured colored concrete walkways, and extensive brick work. I work with Juan Perez who is meticulous and a great partner in sharing suggestions for your project. They get their concrete mix from two suppliers, and the source and quality of mix is important. You do not want inferior concrete mix. Juan is as detail-oriented as I am, and he knows I expect top quality work and fine details. Most people wouldn't notice the special things they do like shaving the bricks so that we didn't end up with a half brick at the end of a row of edging. I notice that kind of craftsmanship. They are careful with cleaning up and not destroying your landscaping. They are responsive when I point out things. Good communication (email and phone) and they show up when scheduled and stay on the job until completed. When I do get competing quotes, they are right in there. In other words, they aren't the most expensive and they are not the cheapest. I use them because I know I can count on the quality of the work. Highly recommend! Sylvia read more

Update feedback. I am glad that finally the concrete project worked out this them. This was an incident happened during the concrete project; my gas line was damaged during the digging process. However, I would like to give them a credit for their crisis management. Finally, the gas line has fixed and concrete has paved beautiful . In the end, I would highly recommend to let PGE check the location of your gas line if you live in San Jose neighborhood. You would never know the depth of the gas line in old San Jose neighborhood. read more

We had a tree damaging the sidewalk in front of our house so we were required by the city to remove the tree and repair the sidewalk and drive. Valley Concrete gave a much lower estimate than the city did so we decided to hire them. They were very responsive to me before I signed the contract to work with them, but after I signed the contract it was impossible to get any information from them. I signed the contract on May 22 and was told they were booking 8-10 weeks out. The info packet sent to me explained that they would contact me with a date approximately one week prior to their scheduled start time. After 11 weeks I had heard absolutely nothing from them. I emailed on Aug 15 for an update and then again on Aug 29. I finally heard back on the 29th with an apology and an explanation saying that sometimes they get "several emails daily". At that point I was told that she would check with her supervisor and get back to me. I still hadn't heard back so I followed up again on September 14. On the 17th I was told that my repairs would start on Sept 27 or 28. I then got an email later saying my repairs would begin on the 24th. I asked how long we would need to go without driveway access and was told 7 days so we planned accordingly. Valley Concrete came out on Monday, Sept 24 and did the demo on the driveway. We then didn't see or hear from anyone for a couple of days. On Wednesday they came mid way through the day to do the framing to get ready to pour. They then went completely silent again. I called to find out when they were pouring and when we would have access to our driveway again. I received conflicting stories. One person had told me a truck of theirs broke down and that caused the delay. I was then told by the supervisor that there was some sort of miscommunication with PGE and that caused the delay. Since PGE was at our property on Monday along with them that seemed unlikely. They usually demo one day and then pour the following day, but they did not pour our concrete until Friday, extending our time without access to our garage drastically. They have extremely pour communication. So far, the work seems to look okay so if you're not in a hurry and don't mind dealing with someone completely unprofessional then they're probably fine to go with. I guess you get what you pay for. read more

They came out and provided an estimate within two days of our call, and then scheduled us for demo of our 80' driveway the following week. The demo crew came on Monday, the forms guys on Tuesday and Wednesday they poured the entire driveway and garage pad. They did a great job and we are very happy with their responsiveness. read more

Their concrete truck dropped concrete stones all over the road causing damage to my work vehicles front windshield. Stopped the driver and got his information. Contacted the company to resolve the issue and was met with a rude receptionist that was no help. Got the estimate and contract done via email for some sidewalk repair. Contract shows and state that the work will be scheduled between from 5 business days from contract, due to availability and (weather permitting). Now it has been 2 months and still no work done. Called several times for work schedule, and every time they are telling me that it is normal to schedule their work in 4 to 6 weeks (1st call) then 6 -8 week (2nd call) then now they are saying 8 - 10 week (if weather permitting). I cannot comment the quality of their work yet since it has not been done, but I was very disappointed with unprofessional customer service and delays. I would not recommend if you need to get your work done fast. You may suffer like me with many calls and frustration. read more

After receiving 3 bids I decided to go with Valley Concrete because of their longevity in the business, even though they have been bought our a few years ago. They did a decent job, got our quickly as they said they would, however, I had to watch them. I had to make sure they got the rebar off he ground so it wouldn't be on the bottom of the concrete. I've used Valley Concrete for concrete jobs large and small and figure that I owe them a review. They just finished a job installing posts in a parking lot and they gave me a much better price because it was a job that could be done in rainy weather and they wanted to keep their people working. The job came out great. They have also poured the foundation for my existing home and did the porches and the work was excellent. The job was done five years ago & the foundation was square, level and accurate. The soil was compacted properly and no problems have developed over the years. I used a different contractor on a second home foundation and greatly regretted not using Valley because their price was a little higher. The second contractor piled on change order after change order making their price astronomical. They even wrote a change order on one of their change orders. The other contractor also made a 12 inch error on the layout and have gone silent on repairing their mistake since they have been completely paid off. The bad contractor threatened work stoppages or that they would abandon their partially finished job if the change orders were not signed. I have never had such a problem with Valley. Sometimes they have a long lead time because they can become too busy. read more

Valley concrete gave us an estimate to fix the pavement in Cupertino, the estimate was within budget. The estimator's name was Eddie. We notified the city of Cupertino letting them know that we are ready to schedule the work. The city of Cupertino sent us an application to fill out, the application was forwarded to Valley concrete. They said that they were licensed insured and bonded so therefore they will *not* fill out the form and they told us that they will *no longer* be doing the work. Ummm.. what??!! I have no idea how it went from providing a proposal to not filling out an application and now deciding not to do the work. I just was outside in my backyard and was thinking this looks beautiful, so I decided to write what a wonderful job they did. Starting with Matthew who did the estimate. He was a pleasure to work with and had a lot of patience. I called to ask him to come back out a few times because I kept changing my ideas. Additional measurements needed to be done. One thing keep in mind if you are happy with the estimate call to get on the schedule because they truly are booked out a month. I didn't believe it until I experienced it. Carmen was so very helpful with scheduling and the deposit. She is very understanding, nice to talk to really thoughtful and kind. The demolition crew were very efficient, clean organized, and meticulous. Jesus does a great job with his crew. The pour crew, was just as organized and they too were very hard workers. If something wasn't right, he was right there to fix the problem and he did an awesome, awesome job! Do not use this company! This company has no regard for the law. They are on site in Fremont and they parked their truck ACROSS 2 disabled parking spaces AND a wheelchair ramp, blocking wheelchair access to numerous businesses. They are denying access for anyone in a chair. They clearly have no regard for federal law (ADA) which states it is unlawful to obstruct wheelchair access in any way. This site is in a large shopping plaza with plenty of regular spaces they could have obstructed. Instead they chose to block disabled parking and wheelchair access. There is NEVER, EVER an excuse for this practice! SHAME! read more

Valley Concrete replaced my front sidewalk and also replaced brickwork in my parkway strip. The entire experience was first rate. The phone receptionist was polite and friendly. All of the workers---concrete cutters, tear-out &framers, concrete worker, and brick worker were all very nice guys. Most importantly, the work was superb. Everyone involved in the project took great pride in the quality of their work, and the finished product clearly reflected this. I wish I could give lower than one star. The facts of our situation are these: My fiancee and I had Valley Concrete remove the concrete on our park strip. Two months later sewage starting seeping onto our park strip. We called a plumber who showed us the piece of concrete stuck in our pipes. I called Valley on a Tuesday and asked for someone to come out to remove the concrete from our pipes. I played phone tag with a Valley representative for three days. On Friday I brought the receipt from the plumber to Valley and they sent out a pair of individuals from their sister company, Able Plumbing, in an attempt to fix the problem. Both of these individuals were unsuccessful and I was left waiting through the long weekend until I could speak to someone. The following Tuesday I contacted Valley at which point they claimed that I had had other work done on the park strip. This was not the case. They then told me to take up my issues with the city because it was the city's responsibility. This was also not the case. They also demanded that I pay for the two persons that they sent out the previous Friday and had failed to fix the problem. All in all the experience with Valley Concrete was a terrible one. read more

My experience with Valley Concrete was great. I had a small area concrete pad-section replacement job directly in front of the house with access only by way of the lawn. The estimator was on time, provided a couple of good tips/opinions for my project and came out a second time - without complaint - after I changed the project scope. The bid was right in the 'middle of the pack'. Their response time to start work after signing the contract was a couple weeks and they used three different crews. The demo crew showed up, brought a bobcat with breaker and cleanly removed the existing pad. There was very little trace (if any?) on our front yard grass. It was same story for the forms crew: They showed up, set forms, re-bar w/ blocks (and set dowels to tie the pad to an adjacent one) in a clean and efficient manner. Lastly, the pour crew came on-site, double checked the forms crew, and set the concrete and did a great job on the joints and finish. A couple days later, a crew came back to clean up the job and the end result could not have been better. I'm rather picky and most of the time watch crews discreetly and/or correct... these guys didn't require intervention like some of my hires. I ponder if some of the other lesser reviews might have mistook another company for Valley Concrete. I feel fortunate I didn't yelp them otherwise I might have missed a good one LOL. read more

Valley Concrete just completed a driveway replacement for us which included replacing a long swath of brickwork between the side of the house and the concrete. We couldn't be more pleased with their service and the final product, which is exactly as we envisioned it would be. Finish Quality = Not Very Good It's a shame because the estimator, demo crew and forms teams were very good. Unfortunately the pour/finish crew were unable to deliver to the same level of quality as the rest of their team. In reality, the finish is the most important part. They did provide a discount as they acknowledged the quality problem. They also offered to cut out and re-pour the damaged section but I was told that it would look "100 times worse". Valley recently did extensive work for us extending our driveway, adding a front walkway and creating a multilevel patio with a fire pit off the back of our house. We are extremely pleased with the quality of work and how it seamlessly ties into the house as well as the existing driveway. The professionalism from the owner right down to every worker is second to none. They even helped us get our kids hand prints in the concrete which took a few try's with little ones.
