We called Victor back to modify the pavers he installed in 2019 for a new patio cover. He included a new paver path walkway from the front to backyard and removed the existing redwood trellis. His workman did the heavy lifting and completed the patio with additional pavers. They also removed an old shed and made a level place for a new shed. The backyard is now free of tripping hazards and a comfortable place to spend time in. I recommend hiring IPS for your backyard Hardscape improvements. read more

THE BEST. After referred by my mom / grandma (both who have used Victor and team for their driveway paver needs), I contacted Victor post house remodel for our new backyard. Victor scheduled a time that same week, and showed up on time, walking me through my options and making suggestions based on my style and budget. I asked if he could schedule the work a few weeks out based on the completion of our remodel (which he was happy to work with me on). When the time came, his team was here every day when they said they would be, even showing up on Saturdays and Sundays to beat the forecasted rain. Apart from the team being the most polite, respectful, and hard working individuals - the work was top notch. The attention to detail, and little extras thrown into the design (including a beautiful 6inch paver border throughout) has made our backyard look so luxurious. Our fence line was cemented into the ground, so Victor came up with a solution to saw around the cement and add a bit of rock gravel (matching our pavers) for one continuous look. It looks absolutely gorgeous and I couldn't have asked for a better team. Moreover, even when the work was done, the team told me there were three cracked pavers (I could barely even see the cracks when they pointed them out), and they came back the following day to proactively replace. I found Victor through is youtube video of a job he did in Palo Alto. Victor and team did my backyard in Nov 2012 and did a wonderful job. His quote was very competitive and he actually got started early and finished in time for my family to enjoy the backyard patio for Thanksgiving. This review is terribly late. But late is better than not at all. This man Victor is awesome. We have used him over the years on two large projects. Both times ended up just beautiful. We have the additional honor of being shown on his website. Yep one of those backyards belong to us. Victor and his team were outstanding from start to finish. If you have a small job that needs to be done, go with someone else or he'll tell you rudely that he won't take your job. I got a $8,000 quote from Victor on a job that consisted of 60% concrete 40% pavers. The pavers portion of the quote was fine, the concrete portion seemed high (he subcontracts concrete work). I got two concrete companies, who are highly rated on Yelp, to give me quotes on the concrete portion and they came in $1800 cheaper. I called Victor to book him for the pavers portion but he told me "I told you, it's either all or nothing"; Our conversation ended there. read more

Just recently, we updated our front yard and replaced the dead lawn with a drought tolerant landscape and veggie boxes. To round out the picture we upgraded our old concrete driveway with pavers. Victor and his crew updated our driveway, walkway, and a little patio area next to the front door with Calstone pavers and a fairly new stone, "Antique Flat", in grey/ charcoal/ tan. We chose the Antique Flat style so our kids could still use our driveway for their skate boards. For the 750sqft work area, the work took a little over a week. Victor's crew (Eleazar, Tony, and Cesar) did a wonderful job and we could not be happier with the outcome. First of all, this work was reasonably priced, started and completed on time without any surprises or extra add-ons. The crew was extremely friendly, courteous, professional, on time, clean and fun to talk to. They added some sleeves under our driveway and walkway to the street to the respective landscapes at no cost so the landscapers could work on the drip system. A couple of days after they had finished the paving job, the landscapers came across an obstacle (a hidden concrete covered pole in the walkway where a lemon tree was supposed to go) but didn't have the tools to take it out. We called Victor and he sent a jackhammer with Eleazar who worked for two hours to get it out... it was a lot more complicated than expected, but they still did not charge us for it! Another extra job was done next to our driveway - we decided during the project to convert the other side of the driveway too and Victor and his crew took out the old deep bushes there again without extra charge. I would give them a couple extra stars for that help too if I could! We highly recommend Interlocking Pavers Specialist! I had finally decided to replace my rotting redwood deck in the back patio of my townhouse this year. Considered different materials: treated redwood deck, composite deck, concrete, and pavers, and received various quotes on all materials/contractors. Decided to use IPS because Victor gave me a nice quote and he seemed easy to work with! And the project turned out to be an excellent experience!! Victor has a very easygoing personality. After the initial phone call to him, he came over to look at the work area and gave me an estimate for the classic cobble stones, and emailed me a writeup estimate that same evening. At the same time, he also encouraged me to visit Calstone at Sunnyvale to look at the actual materials, since photographs on printed catalogs might look different from the actual stuff. Victor had never pressured me into looking at more expensive stones as most salesperson usually do!! I decided to upgrade to quarry stones after looking at sample projects at Calstone, and the estimate was still very reasonable and within my budget!! He was also very accommodating on scheduling the project, because I had to coordinate between the HOA, termite treatment, unhooking the A/C, and IPS work crew. Since the square footage of my project was not too big, a 2-men crew was sent to work on my patio. They were both very courteous workers, showed up on time every morning, and most importantly, cleaned up very well at the end of every work day!! Cleanup is important to me because my patio is connected to the pool area of the townhouse complex, so my neighbors would not be disturbed! The project was completed within the time frame promised, and I have been enjoying my beautiful patio all summer long!! I was quite anxious when I had to hire a contractor to pave my yard for the first time. I talked to four different companies and Victor looks very experienced and he also gave me a reasonable quote. I decided to hire him because he told me that his team has been working with him for over 20 years ( which turned out to be true and very important). But I still had no idea what's going to happen to my over $10k project until his crew members started to work. They are very experienced and very well organized. They paid attention to detail and kept working site clean. I watched them everyday and didn't really need to talk too much with them because they knew what they were doing right at the beginning. The result is simply impressive. When an appraiser came in recently for my refinance appraisal, he told me right away that the pavers has been done really good. IPS finished our back patio and pathway in August 2015. We had a problem with our yard not being level, and the crew did a great job with building a 2nd tier to take care of the problem. Now we have 2 seating areas and love it. We used Calstone pavers with a pinwheel design. All the guys that worked for Vic were very pleasant and easy to work with if we had any last minute changes. They were very accommodating with a good attitude. I liked them well enough to bake them cookies. We had Hermino and his crew working on our back and side yards for three weeks. They did the demo and haul away of my old backyard, put in an extensive drainage system from the back going down both side yards and also connected 5 downspouts. A retaining wall was built. Then Cal Stone antique flat pavers were then laid out. We were very pleased with the finished job! They cleaned up daily too! Now I can see why IPS was so highly rated on Yelp! read more

I received several quotes from a handful of paver companies (all with 4+ stars on Yelp) around South Bay. Due to the huge differences in the footage measurement between the estimates, I decided to measure them myself. One of the measurement was 40% more footage than it should be, and refused to re-measure. I highly suggest anyone who plans to do similar work, do some rough measurement yourself so you have a general idea of the footage. IPS was not the cheapest, but their measurement was one of the more accurate one. Rick Maher from IPS was my first estimator, so he had the honor of getting majority of my questions and concerns. Since cost was one of my concern, so I wasn't sure if I will be able to to replace my concrete driveway, the 2 concrete walkways on the side, and the porch area. Rick took the time to measure everything and provided me with modular cost for each section. I can then easily pick what I want a-la-carte (I ended up replacing everything). He also explained to me in detail the work they will be doing (e.g. the layering, the concrete footing, etc), heads up on potential issue (e.g. bullnose on the porch around a structure beam) and options, and as well as recommendation on the stones and color. Rick was also extremely patient and responsive to my text inquiry (e.g. polymeric sand vs. regular sand, all flat pavers vs. flat and cobble pavers, photo of the pavers in other color, etc). Rick stayed in touch while the work was in progress, and even after they had picked up and cashed my final payment. Manual from IPS was in charge of my replacement job. Since I was also having my sewage pipe repaired and water main replaced by a plumber at the same time, Manual was very flexible with the scheduling. My old underground gutter drainage pipe and main sprinkler pipe were damaged during demolition. Manual acknowledged the damage and promptly repair them without extra cost. Prior to the big storm (that flooded Coyote Creek), Manual and his crew made sure the replaced gutter drainage were functional, securely covered all the demolished area, removed all the concrete slobs, excess soils, and garbage promptly, and created a clear walk path with sheets of plywood so that I don't have to walk on muddy soil. Manual took the time to do the job right and was really quick in response to my concerns. I noticed a couple of pavers have a small chip at the corner, they were replaced the following morning. I noticed a small visible gap at certain angle between the bullnose and the paver below, he came and patched it immediately. Sprinklers in one of the zone in the backyard was not shutting off properly, I left a message for Rick in the morning. When I return from lunch on Saturday, Manual and his crew were already here taking care of it (a small foreign object stuck at the valve). My new driveway, walkways, and porch look gorgeous. Some of the neighbors are now also considering getting their concrete driveway replaced after seeing how well mine turned out. I highly recommend IPS. Many of us know what it is like to go into a high-end luxury department store, and either get ignored or get the funny condescending smile and treatment. I'm not easily offended; I'm not seeking their validation, so I don't care -- but I do notice, and I do think very poorly of them. If I happen to be in a good mood, I just ignore them. If not, I throw back my own attitude. This review is just that. (Note: not making any type of recommendation here; just decided to share my opinion based on my experience.) Here is the thing -- I spoke with both Victor and Cesar, and at first it seemed like the kind of guys I would want to work with. Humble beginnings, knowledgable, and hardworking. However, I soon learned that my 'peanut' budget of close to 100k wasn't good enough for them. (BTW, they love name dropping towns like woodside, pebble beach, etc..) I was working with them on getting a proposal together and a 'bigwig' must have stopped by their lovely counter in this hypothetical luxury store. With the slobber still dripping down their face, they said they were too busy for me -- and like that, they were ghost. Sound familar? * Good for them that they want to go after the big jobs. If they had humble beginnings, they don't anymore. Maybe if business was slow, things would be different. * Can't comment about their knowledge. I'm sure they know their stuff, but it's not as if they have any advanced special knowledge. This isn't an industry where there are special paver installation techniques that provide them with a competitive advantage. No. There is no special knowledge. You just want to be able to find a competent and experienced team vs Joe Schmoe that is training their new picked up friend they met at Home Depot -- who may either know their stuff, or is learning a new craft on your project. * Work ethic? Professionalism? I don't think so. Given the other reviews, I cant comment on their crew -- but for arguments sake, lets say the crew is a hardworking and professional bunch. But the folks on the business-end? hmm... Didn't even want to put in the work to put together a proposal. Thats not very hardworking is it? Maybe one of their crew leaders will 'get hungry' and decide to start their own venture. If so, give me a call. Bottom line -- I'm the customer and I can choose where my $$ goes, what type of business to support -- and share my opinion. read more

IPS and Victor were one of the most professional, nice and conscientious crews I have ever worked with. Today Victor and his crew will finish my backyard project. I can't wait to leave him a five-star review. I am totally thrilled by his expertise in paver installation, and most importantly his willingness to help me with my last-minute requests. I hired Victor to do my pavers and another contractor to do the softscaping (lawn etc). The softscaping contractor had to put pipes in underground after demolition but before Victor can do his pavers. He was very nice to schedule a day off for his crew. He came back immediately after the pipes were laid and laid an electrical conduit (not in contract) responding to my request the night before. Now I will be able to add lighting or little fountain later on when I have the budget for them. I had a designer designed my backyard. It has lots of curves. I had several contractors come in for bids. They were either more expensive than Victor or they did not seem to be competent enough to carry out the project. Victor does much more than he talks. He is the jewel of the industry. If you watch his youtube videos and the compliments from other customers, you will know he is the right guy for your paver projects. Recently we had our backyard paved by this company. we could not be happier with our choice!! The company owner Victor Armendariz is VERY easy to work with. He gave us a very reasonable price (comparing to 3 other companies who provided me with their estimate). He is very knowledgeable, he understood what we want and gave a suggestion on materials. He explained things well and made sure that all is done according to a plan. His workers are great!!!!!! Lucil and his crew were not late even once during the time they worked on our project. Every time leaving for the day, they left a place as clean as it was possible. After completing the job they washed everything: trees, fence, pavement etc. When they left it looked as if they never worked in our backyard or as if we never had a mountain of stones and other materials in front of our house.
