Honestly, everyone at Brick Specialists should be wearing capes when they show up at your house. They are heroes. I cannot give enough kudos. First of all, James is the ULTIMATE professional. He is soft-spoken, kind, accommodating and really knows his stuff. The price point was great (not the cheapest, but in this case it's worth it to pay a little more). Beyond that, the work was impeccable. The guys working on the house were so talented, matching mortar, brick type and color with some really antiquated original brick, and fast. Other contractors on site were astonished at the talent of these guys. People walking down the street would stop to comment or give hugs (yes, this happened more than once). I was slightly hesitant to use a company that didn't have much of an internet presence, however I know that homegrown businesses are generally cheaper because they have less overhead. I sent Luis a message here on Yelp and he responded relatively quickly with an estimate (which he stuck to even with some slight modifications to the project during the work). Few days later and he was here with his crew on a Saturday and ready to roll. The project took them a few hours, and Luis had to make a couple trips to Home Depot during the job. The entire time they were here, they were very professional and respectful of my property. They used wood and metal to cover up the pipes, and everything was measured perfectly, and his "finisher" came to the house to repaint them to match the textured paint on the existing basement wall. I have to say it came out looking better than I could have imagined. They cleaned up after themselves pretty well and Luis was very nice to talk to. I wouldn't hesitate to use Luis again for a construction job. He does quality work and stuck to his initial estimate.

David, Aaron, and the rest of their crew were easy to work with from start to finish -- clear communication, very responsive, always on time, no surprises, no excuses. Just quality materials and quality workmanship at a fair price. David really listened to what we wanted and made sure we were fully satisfied. He was patient with us as we hemmed and hawed over details before starting the project ... but he got the job done quickly once we decided. I really appreciate David and Aaron's attention to detail. Despite the old decking being a warped mess and the joists being a bit uneven, they made sure that the new decking is level and that all boards align cleanly. The painting is fantastic as well -- they did an amazing job painting the accent trim, much cleaner lines than the painting company who repainted our house last year. Last but not least, they did an amazing job fixing our front door. Our house is 118 years old. I'm not sure how old the front door is, but probably well over 50 years. The clear-coat had worn off almost completely and the hinges sagged so that the door didn't swing smoothly and didn't latch properly. Aaron and his crew sanded and refinished the entry door and screen door so they look amazing, and re-hung the door so that it swings smoothly and latches easily. I had previously talked to a door contractor and two general contractors, and all of them said the door would need to be replaced. Aaron and his crew took care of it in just a few hours. We were very disappointed Incepector Handyman Jim arrived without the necessary materials (drywall, texturing material and shower tile adhesive) to do the jobs my husband discussed with him over the phone. My husband sent him pictures and dimensions immediately after their phone conversation. We went to Home Depot to get these materials, unfortunately Home Depot doesn't stock the same window sill material Jim said we needed and that he'd provide to repair the most important fix (cracked window sill) we hired him for. We are unsatisfied with the amount of work done for what we paid. Incepector Handyman Jim charged us $75 per man per hour, for 2 men we paid $150/hour. For $1,150, we expected more work to be completed. When my husband told this to Jim, Jim said, "You got all the work you paid for and we didn't milk the clock." We paid for 15 man hours and this is what we got: - 6 small areas of repaired and textured drywall (no paint) along with touching up several scuffed areas. - Re-positioned a toilet paper holder and towel hook, - Applied caulk to an external window sill (ladder required), and, - Installed 5 pieces of interior door trim. Jim also rounded up the last work hour by 15 minutes, for an extra $37.50. When my husband described the window sill repair job on the phone to Jim, Jim explained the type of wood we needed as well as the specific store he would pick it up from; therefore, we expected him to have the wood with him. My husband also told Jim it was a 2nd floor window as shown in the photos we sent him. When Incepector Handyman Jim arrived, it appeared he had no intention of fixing the window sill because he explained he doesn't like to work in the hot sun so he wouldn't fix it until the fall. He also said he doesn't like to work from a ladder, so he wants us to rent scaffolding for him. Since we were very concerned with the crack in the window sill and potential water damage, they made a temporary fix by filling the crack with caulk. Had we known how slow they worked, it would have been better for us to pay by the job. Had we known Jim doesn't do ladders and hot sun, we would have hired someone else because the most important repair was not accomplished.

We had an incredible experience with B&B! We did a complete gut of our 100+ year old basement (the…read moreprior owners had put up some framing which was not done well, with amateur electrical work, so it was a very "messy" basement to tackle). From start to finish, the experience was very professional, with the various trades being top notch. Everyone was responsive to feedback at each step of the process. Our basement is the nicest part of the home now! Who knew doing laundry would feel luxurious in our new laundry room. And the bathroom we added has great tile work and impressive. We are critical, as my husband's dad runs a construction business, and all our friends and family are wow'd by the transformation.
