The following day after posting this review, I received an email from Randy and we have been able to re-establish consistent communication. We started our interaction with Custom Flooring Specialists on 4/28 and had very speedy replies for our communications until our email on 5/10, after that we did not get a response, though I eventually got a reply from Michelle on 5/15, after following up, that Randy was out of town. On the evening on 5/27 I left the review. I understand family comes first and have no problem waiting for quotes, we're pretty flexible! It was just unclear to me if the quotes would be completed at all from where we left off on 5/10. Communication could have been better here, just a response touching base to let us know that we are still on your radar. We used this company to get hardwood floors installed through out our whole main floor. They were very professional and got the job done quickly and correctly. Our house was not made very well so we have uneven walls and floors and they were able to work with that and installed the floor seamlessly. We needed to get rid of the old stinky carpet in our of the rooms and replace it with something scratch and water resistant. Michelle came to our house and brought us samples to look at. Explained what need to be done and how long it would take. We got quote from a few other venders to compare before we hired CFS because they have the best price, no fuzz, and got the work done really really fast and thoroughly. I was really impressed by their customer services and responsiveness to my inquiries. Two days after I put down my deposit they were able to start the job. Two guys came in the morning and worked for a good 8-9 hours. They did a fine job and now I have brand new flooring that I love love love. Randy, the owner is a hard-working guy and a designer. While the work that Custom Flooring Specialists did on my floors was good, some of the other work had issues. On top of that, they have some of the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. Many of the issues that we had stemmed from miscommunications and poor judgement by the people working on the job. Unfortunately when I talked to the business owner, Michelle, about some of the problems, I was confronted with denial, resistance, and rudeness. She yelled at me and demanded payment even though I was trying to come up with a solution to some of the dissatisfaction I had with the work.  In summary -- decent floor work but terrible customer service. I would recommend going to someone else who can do the work just as well and will treat you with decency. read more

I recently used Custom Flooring Specialists for my 1100 square foot flooring job. Michelle and her team are an exceptional family owned company and are upfront and honest. After received bogus quotes from Lowes, Home Depot, and the nightmare flooring company know as Empire I called Michelle. She came out on a Monday to look at my old flooring , measure, and consult with me about what I wanted in a new floor. Michelle had some great recommendations on what kind of product would fit my lifestyle and invited me down to her store to look at some samples. I visited her store on a Saturday and picked the perfect flooring for my new home. Michelle had a written quote that included options to me with in 48 hours. The quote was with in my budget and was detailed and up front. I signed the quote that Monday and paid for 1/2 up front. Michelle ordered my product and scheduled the installation with in two weeks. At the time of the installation the installers showed up on time, were professional, clean, and friendly, and did EXACTLY what they said they would do. We hired Custom Flooring Specialists to refinish, repair, and add wood floors (kitchen) to the entire first level of our home (1,400 sq ft). This included a laundry room, where we had them add tile. They sanded and refinished our solid red oak floors and repaired areas with water damage, seamlessly matching the existing floors. We also had them do a custom stain color to get the perfect shade. The results are exquisite! Did you know they also do kitchen remodels? We didn't until after our cabinets and granite were ordered through another company. So, we hired them to do the contractor portion - demo our kitchen, do electrical, gas line, plumbing, and appliance installation, permits, etc.... The quality of their work is great and they are efficient. In addition, they took care of those "add-on" items we wanted that popped up (unavoidable) along the way. Something we brag about: Almost every contractor we spoke with for an estimate said our project would take 8 WEEKS(!), but Custom floor Specialists finished our floor and kitchen remodel in 4 weeks (wahoo)! And, guess what? It would have been faster if we had ordered our cabinets through them. Next time! Takeaways: Since most of their crew is on their payroll, they have greater control over scheduling. This eliminates a lot of "down time" and streamlines the reno process. This might be priceless to some of you, but your in luck - their prices are reasonable and fair. In closing, I really (really) appreciated the conscientiousness of their crew. You want whoever's working on and in your home to care for it like you would and THEY DO. I was looking to upgrade my builder grade carpet in my house that is just over 2 years old. I went to all the big box stores and then contacted Michelle. Knowing what I was looking for she came out and measured my house and brought samples to me so I could look at them in my house with the lighting in several different rooms, which really made a difference. Michelle recommended a specific brand of carpet which she knew met my high standards and yet was well within my budget. They offered full furniture moving. I know the big box stores offer this as well but in looking into those offers, there are so many hidden fees. There were no hidden fees with Custom Flooring Specialists. My bid was what I paid. Install was super fast and fit my schedule. The installers were professional, and explained exactly what they were doing and why they did the things they did. They used tricks that only come with experience to make sure that the carpet will last and have no issues with installation. They have decades of experience and it showed. They showed up on time and worked extremely hard. Took pictures of furniture to make sure everything went back the way I wanted it. Asked and adjusted anything that I needed. A lot of my friends and family, commented that I have only been in my house for a few years but I had builder pad and builder carpet. We are very happy with our decision to work with Custom Flooring Specialists. Our floors look absolutely amazing. We had hardwood put down in our dining room and living room, with the new boards laced in to existing hardwood. While we were hesitant to re-sand and re-stain the existing hardwood floors in the other rooms, we are so glad we took their advice to do this. Everything matches perfectly. You would never know which hardwood is new and which is original to the house. They also installed tile in our master bathroom and put VCT in a section of the basement where we will keep our cats' litter boxes--these floors look flawless as well. We received four estimates and even though their bid wasn't the least expensive the decision was obvious. Custom Flooring Specialists came out to develop a quote right away and emailed us the quote that same night. They followed up by phone in two weeks to see if we had any questions. Other companies booked that initial appointment for one or even two weeks out--with some canceling on us multiple times at the last minute.
