(I was considering going back to Shellac due to their limited color choices for dip) I saw reviews for Valerie's on Yelp and decided to give it a try. They literally have 10 rings w/about 30 samples each for in dip colors....immediately I was SOLD!!! After choosing my color, my services immediately began (and I was a walk-in on a Friday). Jenny was my nail tech and did a great job!! She was very pleasant & thorough. I was pleased with both my nails, and polish change on my toes. The salon was clean. Restrooms were immaculate & very well designed. They also have a frequent visit punch card that earns you a discount after so many services $25 and up. I've found my new nail salon!!! read more

This color was not what I asked for. As soon as she started I saw the dip turning this purple and I asked if she grabbed the right powder, the number matched but the COLOR did not. She brought the color swatch I picked and confirmed that it would turn out but it obviously wasn't a burgundy it's a galaxy purple ugh. What a waste of my time and money, they did give me 5 dollars off, so here's 2 stars. So I returned the next day after the lady's sister ran out to offer that I can get my nails redone. The next day, I was approached by the lady who did my nails (older)and said if I get it redone I need to pay 5 dollars because she was upset I asked for a discount?? I came here last month because my normal place was closed and I needed a manicure that day. My first experience was good, they have a LOT of colors to choose from, and my dip manicure lasted over a month with no chips or breaks, so I decided to come back again. This second time the woman who did my nails cut up my cuticles/nail beds so badly that they were all bleeding and stinging for days. She was talking on her phone using EarPods the entire time she was doing my nails which honestly I didn't care about until I realized how bad the work was. She kept apologizing for cutting one of my nails, so she definitely knew what she had done. I didn't really realize how bad it was until I got home otherwise I would have certainly asked for a discount. This place is such a gem! I live in Austin and was visiting family in Richmond and was hoping to find a good spot to get my powder dip manicure done. My mom and I decided to check this place out due to the great reviews and close proximity to her house. We were not disappointed! My mom got a standard manicure and pedicure and enjoyed it so much! She said it was very relaxing and her nail tech did an awesome job. They look really nice. I have been doing the powder dip manicure for a few months now and love how long it lasts and how shiny it is. My nail tech was Jenny and she was awesome! She was very knowledgeable about the dip process, how to achieve the right shape and making sure it was exactly what I wanted. Day 1 of dip nails, but so far I love it. I think my technician was jenny? I can't remember her name but she was really thorough. I went to another location and it felt thick but after going to Valerie's, my nails feel normal-- not excessively thick and they're beautiful! Only thing is she didn't clean the glue or whatever under my nails, but other than that-- GREAT job. I'll post another review after it's been a week or so to see the progress! Day 9 of dip nails-- it started "crusting" or whatever around the edges as it grew out but I also went today to get a pedicure and jenny buffed out my edges a little and made them look new again!! I came to this place strictly off of reviews on yelp. I left the nail shop next door because my usual girl moved out of state. Valeries husband (Donny) did my nails and someone else dud my pedicure. They had great customer service and did a phenomenal job!!! I am thoroughly impressed and will be back.... They offer you drinks (which is customary now days at most bail shops) and they don't nickel and dime you by charging you for broke nails which I like. The guy that did my nails was a perfectionist and made sure they were perfect and I am a very picky person about how my nails are done.... A male employee, who was working on someone's nails, made sure to occasionally look up and make sure I'm doing okay and I was offered water as I waited as well. I did not mind the wait and expected it due to the time I'm coming in. Valerie ended up doing my nails and she did an amazing job. I got a dip powder manicure on my natural nails and she was very attentive to details, much more than nail techs in the past with dip powder. HORRIBLE!!! DO NOT COME HERE!!! So, I came in to get a quick shellac removal which cost $5. I don't think they knew that I understand what they were saying in Viet but they proceed to say, "I don't want to do it, it takes too long" by a couple of the nails tech. Finally, a nail tech came out which happened to be a lady name Cindy. She started sanding down my nails but she was very ROUGH with it and it started to hurt. I could tell she did not want to do the job. Then when she was scraping the shellac off she was not gentle at all. Now my nails bed are super sensitive and thin. Do not come here. Went here Friday before Christmas around 9:30/9:45 am. My plan was to get my nails done just before Christmas since shellac french mani usually lasts me a whole month before I need to get it redone. I was a walk-in, and the person asked me what I wanted. I said mani/pedi. So I got a spot right away. She asked me what color I wanted for pedi, which I had no clue where the nail polishes were located. So she pointed it out. Chose one and sat in the pedi chair. I'm used to being asked what kind of manicure I want. No questions. She just started on my pedicure. I noticed some lady getting a pedi and mani done at the same time, which is what I'm used to. Nobody came to work on my mani. So I just chilled and watched my show on my phone. Then I reminded the person working on my pedicure that I wanted a manicure. She nodded. She finished my pedi and started on my manicure, but she still didn't ask what kind of manicure I wanted. So I kept watching my show. Then I realized she's already massaging my arms, which is at the end of the manicure. So I told her, I wanted shellac French manicure. Then of course she had to work on it. Ugh. So it took about an hour and a half to get all that done, which should have been a 45 minute job to an hour max since I didn't have to get any shellac removed. Felt bad for her since she was the only one who worked on me so I gave her a 20% tip. The next day my shellac started to chip. My nails didn't even make it to Christmas day without any chips. To top it off, the nails stained. How?!!!! This is some bad quality nail polish. Anyway. I'm annoyed. I was going to give this place a second chance, but I wasted $$, and my nails look like they are a month old. Super annoyed. I was glad that they did a massage. However, I'd rather get good quality manicure over a massage. My nails look awful. Now I have to get it redone. It's so hard to find a good nail salon! I am giving this place 3 stars because the work is adequate; they massage you, and it's fairly clean looking. However, I've had much better manicures in the past. Oh and the massage chair I sat on was broken. Ugh. The pedi is adequate as well. I have had better. read more

Came for the first time with a friend today and wasn't very pleased. I asked for a very light purple shellac color and the color I was given was more of a dark lilac Easter egg color. When I was comparing my nail color to the sample nail color, I was told it turned out to be different because "the sample colors fade/change over time." Quite an interesting response considering I've never heard that before. I would highly suggest that you update the colors more often if that's the case. Also, the nail technician was a bit unprofessional when telling a story and was saying "f***" and "bull****." Try choosing better words next time to a new customer. I also did not receive a hand massage that should have been included with a manicure. In addition, they would do some filing on one hand but not the other. Will not be coming back due to lack of professionalism. read more

I came in on a Saturday last minute at 6:30 and they close at 7. They squeezed me in and were really nice. The gentleman that did my pedicure did an excellent job and he was very gentle. He took his time and completed each step of the pedicure I selected. He ended up being the last employee in the shop just to finish my feet. I ended up leaving the shop at 7:37 and apologized to him for keeping him so late. He responded with "no problem, come any time!" I loveeee great customer service it is hard to come by now a days.
