NEW OWNER ALERT. Yes, it is true, my beloved Mason Nails is no longer what it used to be since Kayla sold the business. My last time in was a shock to me, since there was no Kayla and the vibe was totally different. I saw a product shelf/stand that I never saw before, and a new lady at the front desk who insisted I did not have an appointment, which I definitely did. My 2 fav girls were there, along with a BUNCH of new faces/employees busily working. There was some confusion on who was going to tend to my Shellac and Spa Pedi. After some discussion between the new lady (new owner, I guess) and my 2 fav girls, I was attended to by my regular girls but in a very rushed manner. The owner told me that she wasn't sure if I had an appointment in front of THE ENTIRE SHOP, but didn't apologize about being rather rude about it upon my arrival. I also was not offered the usual beverage on arrival, and the whole experience was just not the same. My daughter and I've been here for pedicures about 5 times now. We always do shillac (is that how you spell that ? Haha) and we pick a "fancy" pedicure vs. the traditional one. The nail work has been wonderful by the handful of technicians we've seen. The massages are great every time. We love getting the jelly package - so fun, especially for a 14 year old. :) I personally love the hot rocks and hot towels! All the scent options are great too. I do wish we could get all the above for a little less $, but overall it is a special treat for us (ever 3-4 months of so) and I enjoy doing it with my daughter. read more

I was referred by my co-woker to Mason Nails because my last nail place really damaged my pink and white solar nails. I had white and yellow marks all over the bed of the nails it was so ugly. I went to Mason nails and I first noticed it was very clean, sophisticated and quiet! Very relaxing atmosphere. The nail tech saw my nails and said that it can be fixed but it would take repeated treatments. After the refill, I immediately noticed a huge difference. A lot of other places use clipper like tools to remove the old nail and apply the refill. That's what was causing the ugly nail beds. Here they did a clean removal and application. This place is sterile, relaxing and friendly. They offer a drink upon arrival. After only a couple visits they remembered my name. The pedicures are awesome. I always get the deluxe pedicure with paraffin wax and a hot stone massage... oh to-die for!! The scrub they use leaves your legs so soft. This place is not your run of the mill cheap nail place where you're quickly in and out with so-so service. I love that it's very quiet and peaceful, no instrusive questioning or loud talking between the nail techs, very professional. You do need to call for an appointment as they do get busy and turn down walk-ins on weekends if they're booked solid. They like to keep to their schedule. They never keep me waiting. Try to keep your phone off so that everyone experiences a relaxing treatment. Hands down, the BEST nail place in Katy! Don't go anywhere else. I've been on a futile quest to find a decent low-priced nail salon in Katy, and after reading several five-star reviews for Mason Nails, I decided to check this place out. I got a pedicure done by Mimi. Pros: The employees are generally friendly and there are a lot of quality nail colors from which to choose (e.g. Essie, OPI). Also, I noticed an entire cabinet full of shellac colors, which I haven't seen many other places. The staff wore name tags, which seemed professional. The pedicure was a decent length of time and the massage was very good. The atmosphere is quiet, clean and relaxing. Cons: The pedicurist didn't do a good job painting or shaping my nails. She didn't even file them. I know for a fact that I didn't smudge my toes on the way home, but there were several mess-ups so bad that I just took off the polish and re-did it myself. So basically I paid $35 for a nice foot rub. Maybe my expectations were too high after reading all these raving reviews. I'll most likely go back, but next time I'll be sure to check for polish smudges before I leave. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. I went there for the first time for a pedicure. I was extremely uncomfortable as I walked in and everyone turned to look at me like I was an alien. I stood at the desk and waited for someone to come. Finally, a lady came and asked me how could she help me. I told her I needed a pedicure. Her demeanor toward me was dry and not friendly at all. They took SO much time, had two women working on my feet/hands at the same time and offered a beverage and even a massage! I've been out here twice this month. I drive from Houston and I really love this place. The atmosphere is very soothing. I like that they play beautiful music and you can hear the sounds of the water features that divide the nail area from the pedicure area. The pedicure massage chairs are brand new and Kim gave me the best pedicure I've ever had. I had upgraded my pedicure choice and she really took her time. I know the new owner personally and I would like to say that .... People are bias. It's true! Some of the recent reviews have mentioned Kayla, who I assume is the old older of Mason's Nail Salon, and they all seem to like her very much. BUT like I said before, I know the new owner personally and I would like to help her out; She's a wonderful person to know. She knows what she's doing when it comes to nails and manicures and she's also very sweet. She works harder than anyone else that I know when it comes to nails and she always thinks of her customers first. I've known her even before she started up a new business at Mason's Nail Salon. She used to work at Alex Burton's Salon near First Colony Mall and I've met some of her customers when I would come to visit, all of them regulars. They all loved her very much and some of them would even visit her weekly! Mason's Nail Salon is a much larger place compared to the small room she used to have before so I admit it might take her some time to adjust to. Mason Nail is my all-time favorite nail salon. They never make you feel rushed, and they provide great service for the price. I only do manis and pedis with regular polish, so I don't know about any of the other nail services. One day I was running way behind in my errands and I called to see if it would still be OK for me to come in. It was about 30 minutes before closing, and they usually spend a lot of time on their pedicures. They told me it was fine to come in, and even though I was there past closing time, they never made me feel rushed or that I was an annoyance. It's ok. For all the rave I read here, I expected better service. The employees are all polite but that's not all I paid for. Bee did my spa pedicure. I came along with my friend and they started both of us at the same time, but Bee took about 15 minutes less time with me. The whole thing felt really rushed. She hurt me a few times while cleaning my toenails because of how fast she was going. Towards the end, I asked for a callus removal, which was supposedly included with the spa pedicure, but she refused and said I had too much and she would have to do it the second time. That's what upset me. It didn't make sense. Then she polished my nails without even buffing them first, which made the color look all bumpy. Overrall I'm not satisfied. If I go to them again, I'll make sure to request someone else. read more

There were no customers in the salon and one of the 6 ladies sitting, doing nothing told me that they were very busy and couldn't take me right now. I asked them how they were busy when there weren't any customers and she suddenly spoke far worse English and just kept saying 'no no one to help'. I have been a customer of the new owner for 5 years now (along with 5 other close friends) and have never heard of any of her clients being unpleased or dissatisfied.
