My husband and I stayed at the Gage Hotel 4 nights and got breakfast here each day. A strawberry smoothie to be exact. Some days an egg sandwich too. Some days a latte too. All great, especially when it's the only place in town for over an hour probably! I was impressed with the smoothie and the latte. Everyone working there was lovely. I especially love the younger gal I talked to who made my smoothies. So sweet! read more

Drove me Prius into town and cruised through the Main Street when we saw this cute little cafe. We stopped here last year and had to come again this year during our annual road trip. The matcha is great! The chai was good! The food was really really good. We had a caprese sandwich, philly cheese steak quesadilla, and a small salad. It is a bit expensive. But overall it hits the spot after a morning in Big Bend. read more

Stopped through on the way from California to the south on a road trip and this place was great! Barista was so kind and welcoming and the whole entire place was very cute inside. Very clean! I ordered a matcha latte and I can confirm that these people know how to make a proper matcha !! Definitely worth a visit if you are in town! read more

Passing through the area and felt the need for some caffeine. V6 Coffee Bar didn't disappoint. The coffee is excellent. The service was super nice. I didn't catch his name but very friendly. We didn't order any food but their menu looked delicious. A surprising atmosphere, which I didn't expect for the area. A modern place in a historic community. A perfect blend of old and new. We definitely want to come back to explore Big Bend, stay at the Gage Hotel and visit V6 Coffee Bar again. Thank you for the quick visit and the delicious coffee with a pretty leaf on top. read more

Another welcome stop on our road trip. We had the avocado toast, egg sandwich, and breakfast plate all with gluten free bread. Their coffee was excellent and service top notch. We wish they offered more veggie centric meals but delicious none the less. read more

Woah! An incredible spot to stop on the way to Big Bend. This cafe has incredible coffee and lunch items. The staff welcomed us as if we were locals and gave us tips on things to do nearby. The sandwiches are made fresh when ordered. They haven't been sitting anywhere premade. The turkey bacon on gluten-free bread was tasty! The fruit cup side was filled with delicious fresh seasonal fruit. I am glad I splurged on the almond gluten-free cookie. It paired well with my delicious foamy nitro cold brew made by a local roaster. read more

Superb experience. Hit this spot on the way out from Big bend. Had the Philly cheesesteak quesadillas and they did not disappoint (I am Hispanic) didn't realize it came with a pasta salad side so that was a pleasant surprise. Issac behind the coffee bar is an extremely bright individual who did a great job at elevating the entire experience and ambiance shout out to him. Ended it with iced americano and I must say, for being 8 hours away from my regular coffee fix the coffee was darn good. Maybe better. On Jah. ASÉ. read more

They were very crowded this morning. They were also cash only. The coffee was really good. The young lady at the cash register was pretty useless. She couldn't answer any of my menu questions. But she was sweet. So there's that at least. read more

Great coffee. Great food, even better service! Soooo happy to have oat milk as an option. We enjoyed the vegetarian food options.

Espresso machine was down but was coming for breakfast. Breakfast food was great and loved the music playing. Would definitely come again.

This place was great. My family and I stopped here on our way out of Big Bend National park. The kids loved it!

Great little cafe, grab a packed lunch to go for your Big Bend journey but first have a coffee and a sit down.

They stop serving breakfast at 11. Meaning if you're waiting on them to take your order, and the clock strikes 11, you're SOL. This isn't listed anywhere, it's just a fun surprise. Coffee is fine though. read more

We came in as a family of nine and they had our food ready in ten minutes. The french toast was the best french toast I think I have ever had. My cousin loved her bagel. She said that the eggs were perfect! There is also free wifi along with seating that can fit a party of six and under!! 10/10 experience!!!! read more

Extremely disappointed and won't return. Brewster County has a mask mandate ( signs posted everywhere) and V6 had a "mandatory mask" sign on the front door(same as Gage Hotel), the barista felt it was okay not to wear hers at all. Seemed like most who entered did wear a mask. However, unclear why V6 feels they don't need to adhear to this mandate. read more

Favorite coffee and breakfast location. Nothing happens too fast. Quality of food, coffee selection and ambiance all great.

V6 is a part of The Gage Hotel, so (my opinion) this should could as no surprise that it's first rate. Like the restaurant next door, like the White Buffalo--a bar so cool and welcoming you pinch yourself, and the hotel which is a treasure. Interestingly, the main barista is married to the pastry chef at the restaurant next door. He's from New Zealand, normally a music teacher is what he told me, but a job needed to come with his wife moving here so just happens the guy is a total espresso fiend, freak, savant. They hired him to run the place. Really knows his espresso, and the single he poured for me was sublime. No messing around here, this is big league. Was there on the first day of a new breakfast menu, had an egg dish wish chilis and it absolutely hit the mark. Is everything this good here? Apparently. Great coffee, a great hotel, great restaurant and bar, and an hour from Big Bend National Park. This is my kind of place. read more

Overpriced. The kids waffle was a half a regular waffle (the free kind you get a middle of the road hotels) for $6. The America breakfast came with toast but when we got back to the Gage to sit down and eat there was no jam included. The breakfast burrito was the best thing we had. Overall, it was okay and we would go back if we didn't have another option but the prices for what you get isn't great. read more

Had a cappuccino and their nitro cold brew, both of which were pretty good. I was disappointed by the COVID precautions, the barista was not wearing her mask either time I visited, even though it was around her neck the whole time. In addition, I found her a bit short with me in a way I didn't appreciate. If you're in Marathon and want a good coffee, you can definitely get it here, but there were a couple of frustrating moments during my experience. read more

What a lovely little coffee shop in the middle of no where! We love stopping here on our way home from Big Bend each year. Amazing coffee options and so much other high quality offerings. Went in about 2:40 and didn't see anyone - walked toward back to give a polite shout and was met with a very abrupt 'I'll HELP you at the register!' Asked for an americano and was informed the I couldn't have one because she had to turn the machine off to clean it BEFORE they closed - which was in 15-20 minutes. Won't be going back. I'll drink convenience store coffee before I go back in there. read more

It's one of the only shops around here in the middle of the desert and it's the best one for sure! We've made it a tradition to visit and get coffee and breakfast every time we're in the area and they never disappoint. The food is good, the chai is good, the coffee is good, the matcha is good, and everything is a hit! It is a bit expensive but for the quality and location it's all worth it. read more

Extremely disappointed. Even though Brewster County has a mask mandate and V6 had a "mandatory mask" sign on the front door, the barista felt it was okay not to wear hers, but to wear her mask around her neck while serving other guests. It's not safe to be operating this way. Do better, V6. read more

Stopped by for morning coffee. This place is clean, cute, good service and a friendly vibe. My Latte is very good; not too hot and the expresso isn't over roasted. They serve breakfast, smoothies and a selection of baked goods. We did not order any breakfast (too "hippy" for my taste and a little pricey) but everything looked good. This is a solid place to stop! *they also have great hours! read more

We weren't planning on stopping here but were pleasantly surprised to find this cute modern gem in the middle of no where on our journey to Marfa Texas. I ordered the biscuits and jalapeño gravy and my friend ordered the breakfast sandwich. I we both loved our meals and drinks (great chai tea)! The jalapeño gravy was spicy, just the way I like it! And my fiend loved the sauce that came on the sandwich and really appreciate how crispy her bacon was! Would definitely come back again if I ever take another road trip west or visit big bend! read more

Randomly found this place on our way back from Big Bend and what a pleasant surprise. This is a legit coffee shop and lucky for us, it was open on Sunday afternoon. Food was fine but we were here three days ago and neither of the wait staff were wearing masks. Woman at the register momentarily pulled her mask up for 1-2 minutes while checking is out. Blonde woman prepared coffee, served food, etc without a mask multiple times. Brunette woman was even more unsafe, not once using a mask while we were there eating outside. Lots of elderly customers, tourists, since right next to hotel, so particularly concerning. Sign in door says masks required--customers were wearing masks while inside. read more

Stopped by for lunch on the way home from Big Bend. What a lovely place! Everything we had was wonderful! The staff was friendly. The soy cappuccino hits the spot, tomato basil soup was delicious, salad was super fresh, and the sandwiches were tasty. And the espresso chocolate chip cookie was the bomb! This review is based on one dish only: their scrambled eggs with chorizo and hatch chiles. In my experience, it is the sort of dish restaurants can barely make right. Scrambled eggs are usually overcooked, if not a bit burnt. Not here. They were perfection. Moist, fluffy, creamy. Well seasoned. Service was fast (take that, Oasis) and cordial, and the venue is nice, high-end. Prices, however, are not too bad. Tomorrow I'll try their coffee. read more

You don't expect to find a metropolitan-quality coffee shop in such a tiny town but this place is elegant. The food menu wasn't extensive but the choices we made were excellent. I'd recommend the egg sandwich and the black bean tacos, though this last option was better with the provided salsa. The lavender lemon shortbread was ah-mazing! read more

Best coffee in the entire area. Yes, including Marfa. Marfa's LA-bullshit chic-sourced Instagram influencer-curated coffee falls well short of this. The customer service I experienced wasn't great. I wanted a modification on a smoothie in which one employee did for me a time before, and the employee I talked to a different day refused to help. She said that they don't make modifications to smoothies, I then informed her that another employee had done it for me and she just stood there -- not offering any solution or help. Then I said I'd just have a coffee but didn't wait for me to tell them whether I wanted iced or hot so she made the decision for me. read more

Friends told us that the Gage Hotel was a stop worth making on our way to NM, so we stopped here, planning to have lunch at the 12-Gage, the hotel restaurant. But it only does dinner, so the receptionist referred us to the V6 Coffee Bar, two doors down the block. We were greeted by the world's friendliest Barista, who explained the menu, and helped us navigate the many lunch choices. The Bride had the Mediterranean Salad, and I enjoyed the Side Salad & Soup option -- today with creamy mushroom soup. We were both more than pleased, and way more than full when we finished. For drinks, I got the Iced Coffee with a shot of espresso, and The Bride had a chocolate frappe. I think she's addicted, because she got one to go! All totaled, lunch for two, including two frappes and a large iced coffee, along with tax and tip came out under $25 -- a bargain in my book, and a great way to refuel on the way to our destination. Next time we come back to the Big Bend/Alpine area, we're going to stay at the Gage. If the V6 is this good, I can't imagine what the hotel is like. And we'll do breakfast at the V6 for sure! read more
