Wedge salad with side of steak.

So glad we decided to stop in! Amazing drinks and the food exceeded our expectations. We decided to go into the bar and had the best service.

Bacon BBQ burger and fries. Great fries. Good burger.

We were able to eat here twice during our stay in Alpine this past weekend. First night was really good. Christopher was an awesome host. Sharon K was an awesome server! Food was really good. Second night was off. Host (didn't get his name) could not have cared less that we wanted to spend money there. He saw us waiting and stopped before he helped us to straighten his menus. Took his time about it too. It was very "I could care less". Then he looked over a pad he was carrying. Then finally asked us if we were wanting a table. There were a few tables that needed cleaned and he told us it would be 20 minutes or we could sit in the bar. We chose the bar. Sam W was our server and he was hustling and really on top of things. Food was disappointing as I had high expectations from the previous evening but my squash and mashed potato sides were cold. Not room temp, but cold. It was late, my legs don't like tall chairs and my chicken fried tenderloin was good so I didn't mention it. But it was such a night and day difference from Fri to Sat night. Had our first impressions been what occurred on Sat night, we'd not have returned.

Food: Food was good, slightly over priced, but tasty nonetheless. I had the jalapeño burger, tasty and messy. Service: top notch, our party had a reservation with 18 people and the waitress was fantastic, never had an issue. Ambiance: outside patio was beautiful sight! Small annoyance was that the circular table I sat at I kept hitting my knee on. Other than those things really neat place.

Green chili cheeseburger and fries

Everything was great. One of the best "old fashions" I've had in west Texas! I had the green chili cheeseburger, everything on it was great, green chili was legit! Chicken fried steak was good, and the kids had pizza. All of it was awesome, staff was a bit slow but I went on a Friday night so I can't blame them

Chicken enchiladas. Small portion for an entree

Our favorite restaurant in Alpine! We are here for dinner the 3 days we stayed in Alpine. Their cheeseburger, French fries, and Brussels sprouts were my favorite! My husband got the chicken enchiladas one night and I thought the portion was pretty small compared to other entrees. Staff were really nice! Would recommend if stopping by Alpine!

Is this pet friendly?

No, but we were only inside. They have a patio that might allow pets. Best to call and ask.

The photos are old. Before the new owners changed things. It's better now?

We loved all the food when we went in Oct 2020.

# Hidden Gem in the Mountains: Tri La Bite Food Truck…read more **Location:** Alpine, Texas (Deep in the Mountains) **Rating:** (5/5 Stars) Sometimes the best culinary discoveries happen when you least expect them. Tucked away in the rugged mountains surrounding Alpine, Texas, sits a little food truck that's redefining what roadside dining can be. Tri La Bite isn't just serving food - they're creating an experience that'll have you planning your next mountain road trip around another visit. ## The Atmosphere There's something magical about finding a cozy food truck nestled among the dramatic landscapes of West Texas. The mountain backdrop creates an almost cinematic setting that makes every bite taste better. It's the kind of place that reminds you why food trucks exist - to bring exceptional eats to unexpected places where brick-and-mortar restaurants fear to tread. ## The Service The heart of Tri La Bite is undoubtedly the incredible woman taking orders. Her warmth and genuine hospitality transform what could be a simple transaction into a memorable interaction. In a world where customer service often feels scripted, her authentic kindness stands out like a beacon. She's the type of person who makes you feel like a welcomed guest rather than just another customer. ## The Food **BBQ Chicken Sandwich** - This isn't your average gas station sandwich. The chicken was perfectly cooked with that ideal balance of tender meat and slightly crispy edges that only comes from true pit mastery. The BBQ sauce had just the right amount of tang and sweetness, complementing rather than overwhelming the smoky chicken. Served on a bun that actually held up to the generous portions - a small miracle in the food truck world. **Bacon Grilled Chicken Sandwich** - My girlfriend's choice proved equally impressive. The combination of crispy bacon and perfectly grilled chicken created a harmony of textures and flavors that had her savoring every bite. The bacon wasn't an afterthought but a carefully integrated component that elevated the entire sandwich. **Fried Pickles** - These weren't just good - they were bomb, as we say back in California. Crispy exterior giving way to tangy, juicy pickles inside, with a breading that didn't fall off with the first bite. They're the kind of side that makes you question why every food truck doesn't make them this well. ## The Value In an era of $15 food truck sandwiches that leave you hungry, Tri La Bite's pricing feels like a throwback to when food trucks were about accessibility as much as quality. You're getting restaurant-quality food at prices that won't break the bank - a increasingly rare combination. ## Final Thoughts Tri La Bite represents everything that's right about food truck culture. Exceptional food, genuine hospitality, fair prices, and a location that turns a meal into an adventure. Whether you're a local or just passing through the mountains of West Texas, this little truck deserves a spot on your must-visit list. From two travelers who've eaten their way across California and beyond, Tri La Bite earns our highest recommendation. Sometimes the best meals happen in the most unexpected places, and this mountain gem proves that point beautifully. **Pro Tip:** Bring cash and your appetite - and maybe plan to stay a while to soak in those mountain views while you eat. *Love from California*

The Water Stop - Spicy chicken sandwich

It's always a good sign when the parking lot is full in the middle of the week. Got a seat inside and waited. Then waited some more. The hostess seated a 14-top and we decided that we would leave if their orders went in first. BUT finally - a waitress. Friendly, though obviously harried by the unexpected mid-week bonanza. Drinks & food order in!! Margarita for me, Dos Equis for him, chili con queso, spicy chicken sandwich as shared plates. $22 marg was ABSOLUTELY worth it. Queso was SO good, with hefty chips made just right. Spice in the chicken - yes please. Did we wait, yes. Did we mind, NO. BEST PART - the people watching was PRIME. We could've passed another round & been entertained until closing but folks were waiting for tables and i was just buzzed enough on the ONE marg. Looking forward to tomorrow when we try a burger & cheesecake.

As one…read moreof only a handful of larger restaurants in Marfa, we expected a much more welcoming experience, especially considering the prices geared toward tourists. Unfortunately, this establishment did not feel family friendly or kid friendly despite presenting itself that way. After waiting around 10 minutes just for someone in our party to grab menus, we were eventually served water and later had our orders taken. However, the overall attitude and repeated glares from the waitress/bartender, Gary Jean, made the experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Good service goes a long way, and basic kindness shouldn't feel like too much to ask. It became clear that receiving decent service was going to be more effort than it should have been, so we decided to leave before our food even arrived. To management: supporting your staff better may help improve the customer experience overall. A little hospitality can make a big difference.

It's for a very Texas upscale vibe tho, I liked the ambiance quite a bit! They had a lot of tables outside with heat lamps because it does get cool in the evenings, and they had regular tables and bar seating inside. We didn't have a reservation bc I wasn't sure what time we'd be arriving, but luckily they were able to seat us immediately at the bar since all the other tables were taken (wait for a table was almost an hour and a half). Our waitress (her name was Dallas) was super sweet and attentive and clearly knew the menu well. It's not a very long menu and the portion sizes were a little small for the price, hence 4/5 stars. But the flavors were excellent! My dad and I both got the risotto which had a little more to the portion, and my mom got the trout which was admittedly very small for like $35ish. But as I said, excellent flavor there! She also got a cocktail for like $16ish that they made off menu because she likes sweeter drinks and all the main menu drinks were pretty dry. I spent like $170 in total for all our food plus tax and tip I think? Objectively not terrible, but again for the price - it was a little high. Will also mention they had a single stall restroom, it was immaculate! And there was a good bit of street parking just around the corner from the place in front of a church, so even though there's no lot you can find a place to park.

The staff were a bit overwhelmed but they stayed calm and friendly. We were a party of two and were seated immediately at an outdoor table next to the fountain. It's a very nice patio that was nicely lit by the hotel lights as it got darker. Our waitress was very friendly and greeted us when she came to our table. My wife ordered the pecan crusted salmon, which she said was very good. It was a large portion of nicely-cooked salmon. I ordered two items from the appetizer menu - bacon wrapped quail and kale beet salad. Both were very large portions, plenty for a meal or maybe even 2 people. There were about 6 pieces of quail and a moderately spicy aioli. It was very good. The kale beet salad was also delicious. We also had a piece of chocolate mousse cake, that was delicious. Nice and chocolatey but not overly sweet or rich. Even though the restaurant was crowded, our service was great. Our waitress was always friendly, checked on us often enough, and took the time to chat briefly without seeming harried. The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. Our total check was about $75 plus tip. Not inexpensive but worth it for the food, service and ambience.

If you have never heard of the movie, that is a lot of their problem. The hotel and restaurant are resting on their laurels from a movie from the 1950s. If you took a date to see Giant when it first came out, you probably need food you can gum. We were here two years ago and had a good experience so we came back and were sorely disappointed. Service was appallingly slow because there was one waitress (who was great) for the entire restaurant and patio. There was one bartender. Very short-staffed. We had drinks and chips and salsa on the patio before moving inside for dinner. Entrees on the menu were chicken and veggie burgers (no beef?) and chicken was out. The other entrees were the pistachio-crusted steak (basically fancy chicken fried steak) and a ribeye. They were out of the pistachio-crusted steak. So, it was a veggie burger or a ribeye. No chicken dishes, no fish, no pasta. A frozen veggie burger or a $45 ribeye. We started with a a charcuterie board which was tasty but not very generous. The ribeyes were served on mashed potatoes and very good, but there was no vegetable, no bread - just steak and potatoes. I don't mind the price of the steak but part of that price is service and if there is one server for an entire restaurant and the patio, the service is not going to be that good, and it wasn't. Drinks were not refilled, dessert wasn't offered (they might have been out!), so it was eat and run. So, staffing issues, inventory management issues and a restaurant that had a number of customers to serve so they should do better. Much better.

We started with the salad, which was a solid opener--fresh, generous portion, and overall enjoyable. Nothing that really stood out, but definitely not a miss. The pizza was... okay. You can tell it's fire oven cooked, which is usually a win, but ours came out a bit too toasty--borderline burnt on one side. It also wasn't cut properly, which made things a little awkward. Some slices weren't cut through at all (had to ask for a knife), and others were uneven--ranging from oversized wedges to tiny slivers. Service was a little scattered, but to be fair, we came in toward the end of the night and our server mentioned it had been a hectic evening. No real complaints there--just felt a bit rushed and disorganized. A couple of downsides: they close at 9:30, which isn't ideal if you're looking for a late-night bite or drink, and there's no room service--you have to head down to order. Overall, it's a convenient spot if you're staying at the hotel and need something easy, but it's not necessarily a destination meal. Convenient? Yes. Notable? Meh.
