Tucked behind and connected to a bookstore just off Holland Ave, Cedar Coffee Supply feels like a splash of modernism in a small, rural, historic town. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere struck a perfect balance--clean and contemporary, yet quiet enough for real conversation, with plenty of space to sit and linger. I didn't get a chance to ask who roasts their coffee, but the light roast was impressively smooth, almost tea-like, with none of the bitterness you'd expect. I also ordered a mocha latte and loved that they make their syrups in-house--the freshness really comes through, a welcome change from the usual plastic-bottle pumps. Our matcha lattes were delicious and I adored the honey lavender syrup. Service was kinda slow, but only one worker to ring up and make the drinks. So with that said, she did a great job keeping up. I would visit again. read more

Cedar Coffee has great tasting espresso. The staffing leaves something to be desired. I am a frequent visitor to Alpine and have consistently had great coffee at this establishment. And I have consistently been treated rudely by every barista I have encountered. Whether that involved them rolling their eyes as I asked a question, making audible sighs of displeasure when adding something to my order, or just plain looking bored and bothered by having to provide a service. And to give context, I don't order off menu. It says Iced Mocha, I take that with no modifications. I try to make it easy on both of us. When I come to Cedar Coffee Supply, I know it won't be a pleasant encounter. But sadly, they are the best (only?) cup of decent coffee due to their top of the line espresso machine and decent ingredients (the reason for the three stars). So, I will come back, endure being treated as an inconvenience, and take my coffee to go. Until there is a better cup of coffee elsewhere. read more

Stopped in Friday Jan 3 around 3pm. The barista was by herself so I could understand the wait however she didn't say one word to us. She made the drinks before us. Didn't acknowledge us and then she "took" our drink order she literally did not say one word. She stood there either a cup and pen in hand and looked at me and I gave her our order. YIKES. Was waiting in line and lady behind counter yelled into seating area " we close in 15! ". We got to the counter and ordered basic drip coffee. She said she was out and they are closing in 15 minutes. No offer of anything else or a sorry. Strange vibe, so we left. I love support my local businesses, but not if you treat us like that. Small, hip coffee spot tucked inside the back of a book store so you get the best of both worlds. Pop into the bookstore to find a book to enjoy, then stroll back to the coffee shop to enjoy a delicious coffee or pastry item. Lots of tables and areas to sit, lots of light and interesting art. Great selection of coffee drinks and if you stop there, tell them Joy sent you. We need to keep this little shop going because apparently Alpine lost the other cool coffee house recently. read more

Great vibe - a modern industrial look that is also somehow very calming and soothing to be in. Friendly staff, great chai, no complaints! They even allow dogs on leash as long as they're well behaved. They had toasted bagels with cream cheese that wasn't on the menu. Tasty coffee for a very early morning departure from Alpine back to Austin. Last minute thought to ask about a bakery & the barista said he just got some out of the fridge & I'm glad he told me--the pumpkin scone & banana muffin were so good with the steaming hot coffee. Shop is a nice open place behind one of my favorite local bookstores, Front Street Books, with a nice local art display on the walls(artists names & prices listed). Roasted: interesting find in small town Alpine TX. Cedar Coffee Supply is a small artsy coffee shop in downtown Alpine. Very simple coffee shop with a simple menu. The coffee shop felt very empty and not very personable nor comfortable. Unfortunately there was an awful sewage smell in the shop that made it difficult to even stand and wait for our coffee let alone sit and enjoy it. The barista was friendly enough and helped us get a sugar free offering in our latte even though they don't have any sugar free flavors. No latte art but the latte was good, temperature was spot on and the espresso was smooth and tasty. Enjoyed the latte but the ambience was not good. Hopefully the sewage smell is temporary for them. Unroasted: this coffee shop was very clean looking with basic tables and chairs all around. The first thing that got me was the smell of sewage inside the coffee shop. I was wear a mask so it helped with the smell but it was pretty bad. Waited for my order to be complete from a very friendly professional barista. He actually did a very good job with the coffee with the lack of sugar free flavoring. I was able to finish my entire cup outside of course. I would go back but that smell haunts me. read more

Unfortunately the espresso machine was down when we visited on our way back from Big Bend National Park. We decided to stop in the only town for quite a ways - It's an adorable town with fantastic murals, and a perfect location to stop for coffee. Yelp took us around the corner so we missed it at first expecting it to be on the Main Street, but it's on a side street in the back of the bookstore. We were a little sad to miss out on espresso but the chai was very good and the roasted drip coffee was also tasty. Pleasant atmosphere and adorable plants. Had the bookstore been open and espresso machine been operational we may have needed to stay longer, but it was a good visit anyway. read more

And--I know this is bougie--but, they don't have almond milk as an alternative, which is odd because that's pretty standard these days. After failing miserably on getting our caffeine fix in Marfa, we had a great experience at this Alpine coffee shop. Luckily, they had a few breakfast items so my fiancé and I got different items. We got two chai teas (one hot, one iced), waffles with berries, and a bagel egg sandwich. We were able to find an area inside to eat our breakfast. All tables were appropriately separated to adhere covid guidelines. The waffles were warm, a little crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside... pretty perfect! We actually went to this coffeeshop twice on our trip, Sunday morning and today. It's a nice airy space with that perfect minimalist vibe that tells the brain: you are in a hipster coffee spot. We got iced lattes and iced chai both times, and they're delicious: incredible taste and solid almond and oat options. We appreciated that the chai wasn't too sweet, but there was a bit too much ice in the drinks. Food leaves a lot to be desired however. We ordered a bagel on Sunday and it came out to us toasted, which is an offense to the gods and anyone originally from the 212. No. Today we got their bagel special and specifically asked for it untoasted and now we get it: the bagels are rubbbbbbber. Terrible. Certainly not homemade, but if so, please find an alternate purveyor. The sandwich was good otherwise, but that tabasco honey was adding nothing yet getting everywhere. Our daughter's sweet waffles were also in the rubbery category. FYI management: if you close a container with something in it that is supposed to be somewhat crisp, the trapped heat will cause it to become soggy AF. Also, ironically, there was no maple syrup provided for these sweet soggies. Even though we didn't enjoy the food, we loved the coffee and the space and the staff was friendly enough in that can't-show-any-emotions-beyond-uber-cool hipster fashion. Their door opens to the (awesome) bookshop across the way, which was nice. We would happily recommend this place to others and hope that it will still be there when we come to visit the area again in X years. read more
