Fantastic burritos. The homemade flour tortillas are a game changer - so good! I ordered the Cuñado, which is a burrito stuffed with rice, cheese, ground beef and pico de gallo. It was so tasty with a nice spicy kick, served with some epic homemade salsa. Paired with a Mexican Coke, it was perfection! I went on a Saturday around 11am. There were no lines and I got my food quickly. I ordered an Asado (more like a big soft taco or a mini burrito ). The red sauce is a bit spicy. The meat was good, a little bit dry but still good. I think it had beans and cheese in it. The tortilla was good too. Not too thick and not too thin. Early one Marfa morning, the kids were still fast asleep and my metabolism was not. Marfa Burrito was on my Yelp bookmarks, but I had reservations about the small hole-in-the-wall on the edge of town. I leaped anyway... My takeaway: MB serves hardy, delicious breakfast burritos with wonderfully-blended, slightly spicy green salsa... so good that I wondered why they only gave me two when I had three burritos. Anthony Bourdain (RIP) was here several years ago, however, he opted for the carne asada. I, on the other hand, was craving chorizo. It's not a style of meat I eat often. MB had "The Gordo" ($10) on their menu: Chorizo, eggs, beans, potatoes, & cheese served inside a sturdy yet soft flour tortilla. Both of my daughters received their classic eggs, bacon, and cheese mashup (around $9 each). The way I still think about this burrito is everything you need to know. That homemade flour tortillas are delicious. The service is perfect. You walk in to friendly staff ready to greet you and take your order from a small house converted restaurant. It's covered in photos and autographs from all its past visitors, rip Anthony Bourdain. This was one experience I can say...should hands down be on your bucket list!! Especially if you are in the area, hiking or running in the nearby Fort Davis mountains. You will work up an appetite honestly just getting out here. The tortillas were the freshest I've ever had in life with copious amounts of bacon/eggs and that burrito was larger than my head. The cooks & service were of course what you would expect, west Texas hospitality mixed with traditional Mexican charm. Had a dang fine carne adobado burrito and my wife had a chorizo and egg AND a bean and cheese, thinking, probably, they were more like puny Austin taco sized tortilla wrapped savories. They were not busy at 1:30 on a Monday afternoon in the summer, so they brought our food to us. I'm betting that during the high season, it's a little different. They accomplish dates my gluten free diet by loading up four corn tortillas with all the yum! Picadillo beef, hand-shredded cheese, and pico de gallo featuring plenty of freshly cut tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños. There are only so many different burritos to choose from and you can't get nachos, quesadillas or other things. They simply focus on making great burritos. This is good old home cooked Mexican food.
