This will be short and sweet. If you want an amazing burrito stop here. Dont go anywhere else....you will regret missing out. You walk up, your order, and they give you the best burrito you've had. Service was fast and what you'd expect. The interior is small but they have a huge patio.

Too hyped up. Boring Burritos. We get it. You're in Marfa, and the joint has a reputation from the Grandma that started it with photos of Matthew McConaughey hugging her on the wall. But, guess what?! Grandma is dead, and there ain't nothing juicy here when your dropping 15 bucks on a burrito with no Girth.

Best start of the day! Burritos are LARGE and completely stuffed which makes eating them on the go quite an adventure. We decided to enjoy them at the place which is filled with memorabilia. And a picture with Matthew McConaughey. Service is quick, simple and to the point. Just as we like it.

Such a cute place. Love the graffiti everywhere. Staff so nice. The burritos were huge and delicious! A must stop.

"The Gordo" ($10): Chorizo, eggs, beans, potatoes, & cheese. 2.17.2025

Early one Marfa morning, the kids were still fast asleep and my metabolism was not. Marfa Burrito was on my Yelp bookmarks, but I had reservations about the small hole-in-the-wall on the edge of town. I leaped anyway... My takeaway: MB serves hardy, delicious breakfast burritos with wonderfully-blended, slightly spicy green salsa... so good that I wondered why they only gave me two when I had three burritos. Anthony Bourdain (RIP) was here several years ago, however, he opted for the carne asada. I, on the other hand, was craving chorizo. It's not a style of meat I eat often. MB had "The Gordo" ($10) on their menu: Chorizo, eggs, beans, potatoes, & cheese served inside a sturdy yet soft flour tortilla. Both of my daughters received their classic eggs, bacon, and cheese mashup (around $9 each). So glad my burrito was slightly larger than theirs. :) The hole-in-the-wall has fan love for Ramona and her crew ALL over the place. Ramona was there on the morning of 2.17.2025! She was prepping red salsa and seemingly keeping watch on her employees. I'm a fan. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 5 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4

Stopped in last week! Cool experience. Small place, but the history and the food were fantastic! Ordered the beef burrito. It was huge and one of the better burritos I've had. It came with a green salsa that tasted great! The gal working there was super nice. Service was quick! If you're in this area, definitely stop by!

The way I still think about this burrito is everything you need to know. That homemade flour tortillas are delicious. The service is perfect. You walk in to friendly staff ready to greet you and take your order from a small house converted restaurant. It's covered in photos and autographs from all its past visitors, rip Anthony Bourdain. I ordered a picadillo burrito and man did I wish I orders like 5 more. They aren't open Sundays so make sure to load up on em while you can.

Amazing breakfast burrito! Super fresh and hot. Quaint, little place with great prices. Oh and the Salsa didn't cost $7. (talking to you, Starlight). We will definitely return!

    Cool ordering window!

Place was really neat with friendly service! The staff was very helpful to customers with their orders and customizations of their burritos. The food was GREAT! Huge burritos, great fillings and tortillas, with AMAZING HOMEMADE GREEN SALSA!

Small place with lots of graffiti from past guests. We ordered an egg and bacon burrito and a asada burrito. The asada burrito was spot on. Would order that again. Only beverages appear to be free water and coffee. Great salsas came with the burritos

A small place but worth the stop. I ordered the Gordo very big, filing and delicious. If you are a light eater, this would be 2 meals. But dang the are good

BIG BURRITOS HERE, and they are good too! Order at the counter and then enjoy at one of the many outdoor tables in either the front or back of the restaurant. We got the Primo (yum!) and it was big enough to share with another person. The Primo had some kick due to the jalapeños but the ingredients were flavorful. Celebrities like Matthew McConahey, Kevin Bacon and Anthony Bourdain have stopped in.

Get you a delectable Marfa burrito.

This was one experience I can say...should hands down be on your bucket list!! Especially if you are in the area, hiking or running in the nearby Fort Davis mountains. You will work up an appetite honestly just getting out here. The tortillas were the freshest I've ever had in life with copious amounts of bacon/eggs and that burrito was larger than my head. The cooks & service were of course what you would expect, west Texas hospitality mixed with traditional Mexican charm. Burrito didn't stand a chance with a photo but I am glad I got some pics of the touristy & fun Marfa. Lots to do in the area and explore history. Bring cash for your yummy burrito & load up on their fresh salsa. The trip was months ago and I still remember how incredible my breakfast was after exploring the mountains. GO!!

Ask the Community - Marfa Burrito

Are there vegan options? Are the beans and tortilla vegan?

I didn't get a clear answer but I think the tortillas have lard in them. They tasted like they did and that is how they are traditionally made.

    Are there vegan options?

Yes there are vegetarian ... unsure on the vegan :)

Do they only have flour tortillas, or also corn?

They have corn upon request, preferably request in Spanish.

Getting there, though, felt like stepping backward in time--partly paved roads, weathered buildings, and aging homes that quietly carry the town's long history. Then, almost abruptly, Sentinel Marfa appears as a striking contrast. The building is crisp and modernist, the kind of clean, intentional design you'd expect in a big-city neighborhood, not tucked into a rugged, historic West Texas landscape. Inside, that contrast continues. The high ceilings and open, airy layout give the space a contemporary calm, while scattered tables display local art, newspapers, and small curios that root it firmly in Marfa's creative spirit. A hallway beside the ordering counter leads to a quieter back room, which in turn opens to an outdoor area shaded by a massive oak tree. The place was buzzing, full enough that we ended up sharing a table with another family, which somehow felt fitting in a town like this. Coffee is ordered at the counter, with both staff and baristas displaying some of that West Texas charm and with a smile. Drinks are picked up at the counter while food finds its way to you. The coffee drinks are crafted with beans from Picacho Coffee Roasters. Straight coffee and lattes were exceptional, and the breakfast tacos, made fresh with fluffy eggs, cheese, and potatoes, delivered exactly what we needed. By the time we left, we felt not just caffeinated, but welcomed and ready to explore a place where time seems to move at its own deliberate pace.

That said, it's a cool spot with great people and I'd happily go back. I ordered their signature breakfast sandwich, egg, bacon, and cheese on a biscuit. It was good, not mind-blowing. The biscuit was a little dry, which was a bummer since that's supposed to be the star of the show. I kept wishing for some butter or sauce to bring it together. On the flip side, I also grabbed a slice of cake and that was excellent, easily my favorite thing I ate there. For drinks, I got a matcha latte. They warned me the matcha was a bit earthy and suggested adding sweetener, which I did. I always wonder if "earthy" is code for lower-quality matcha, if ceremonial matcha doesn't really need sugar, but with the sweetener it was totally fine and enjoyable. The space itself is cute and very Marfa. It's in a converted gas station that's part coffee shop, part vintage clothing store, with vintage motorcycles to keep the gas station theme going. There are only a couple of tables, and it's not really a place I felt like lingering with a book or a laptop. More of a grab-a-coffee-and-move-on kind of spot. If you're visiting Marfa and heading out to explore, it's perfect for that. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. They were attentive, brought my food to the table even though they initially said it would be window pickup, and the place is dog-friendly, very relaxed, and unpretentious. I'd absolutely come back the next time I'm in town.

However, the overall attitude and repeated glares from the waitress/bartender, Gary Jean, made the experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Good service goes a long way, and basic kindness shouldn't feel like too much to ask. It became clear that receiving decent service was going to be more effort than it should have been, so we decided to leave before our food even arrived. The staff were a bit overwhelmed but they stayed calm and friendly. We were a party of two and were seated immediately at an outdoor table next to the fountain. My wife ordered the pecan crusted salmon, which she said was very good. It was a large portion of nicely-cooked salmon. I ordered two items from the appetizer menu - bacon wrapped quail and kale beet salad. Both were very large portions, plenty for a meal or maybe even 2 people. There were about 6 pieces of quail and a moderately spicy aioli. It was very good. The kale beet salad was also delicious. We also had a piece of chocolate mousse cake, that was delicious. Nice and chocolatey but not overly sweet or rich. Even though the restaurant was crowded, our service was great. If you have never heard of the movie, that is a lot of their problem. The hotel and restaurant are resting on their laurels from a movie from the 1950s. If you took a date to see Giant when it first came out, you probably need food you can gum. We were here two years ago and had a good experience so we came back and were sorely disappointed. Service was appallingly slow because there was one waitress (who was great) for the entire restaurant and patio. There was one bartender. Very short-staffed. We had drinks and chips and salsa on the patio before moving inside for dinner. Entrees on the menu were chicken and veggie burgers (no beef?) and chicken was out. The other entrees were the pistachio-crusted steak (basically fancy chicken fried steak) and a ribeye. They were out of the pistachio-crusted steak. So, it was a veggie burger or a ribeye. No chicken dishes, no fish, no pasta. A frozen veggie burger or a $45 ribeye. We started with a a charcuterie board which was tasty but not very generous. The ribeyes were served on mashed potatoes and very good, but there was no vegetable, no bread - just steak and potatoes. I don't mind the price of the steak but part of that price is service and if there is one server for an entire restaurant and the patio, the service is not going to be that good, and it wasn't. Drinks were not refilled, dessert wasn't offered (they might have been out!), so it was eat and run. So, staffing issues, inventory management issues and a restaurant that had a number of customers to serve so they should do better. Much better.
