    Chicken Jalapeño sandwich

A little late on this review, but my family and I were here last week and loved it! It's really such a nice spot to eat. The chicken salad sandwich on rye bread was delish!!! My mom had the chicken salad on greens & my sister enjoyed the chicken jalapeño sandwich as well. I can't remember what flavored sparkling lemonade I had, I think strawberry? Either way, very nice and refreshing!! To end our meal, we had a piece of citrus pie/cake given to us which was such a nice gesture! Staff, location, food, service all 10/10! Will most definitely come back for more next time I'm in town. Thank you again!!

Very cute brunch place with good coffee and some amazing choices. Food came out very fast too. Would definitely be a regular if I lived nearby.

Maybe the best scone I've ever had. So fresh and so full of berries. Not too expensive either.

This little gem in Marfa was a big hit for my daughter and I! Conveniently located next to the Lincoln Marfa where we had stayed overnight. We wanted to get a good breakfast in since we were driving back to Dallas that morning. Food was excellent! My daughter loved the prickly pear lemonade and I enjoyed my chocolate coffee. We both loved our breakfast orders. My daughter got a plate of sliced toast, fig jelly, scrambled eggs, and bacon. I got the eggs benedict with bacon and a fresh side salad; Incredible food all around! If you have room, try out their bakery items as well. The chocolate chip cookie was my absolute favorite. You can tell it was made with love. Everyone who worked there was super nice to us and the patio area was lovely. Definitely would go back again when in the area!

    Hummus Bagel

Unfortunately, Aster was not a hit for me at all. I tried the hummus bagel and I was very disappointed. The bagel was not toasted and all the ingredients felt like they were just thrown together. I also tried the iced Vietnamese coffee and it was watered down with little flavor. I would suggest checking out another local spot here in Marfa for food.

The owner Phoenix was very kind and helpful and helped me get something with my dietary restrictions that was super delicious! This place is so cute and the outdoor area is shaded and has a really good ambiance. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone! Thanks for the great food and service

Need a fabulous breakfast while you're in Marfa? Look no further than the quant and adorable Aster located right in the heart of town. During my recent visit, my friend and I stopped in for breakfast to fuel up for a day of visiting galleries. The staff was super friendly and helpful answering some of my questions about the delicious looking pastries I was unfamiliar with. Despite dining during a weekday, the small interior space was full of patrons and there was a steady stream of patrons during our entire visit. For my meal I opted to go with the bagel breakfast sandwich with breakfast sausage with a pan au chocolat and palmier on the side. My friend also got the breakfast sandwich and I'm pretty sure that neither of us said an entire word for the first half of breakfast as we were both too engrossed in our amazing sandwich to talk. To sum it up, if you're looking for the best breakfast in Marfa, look no further than Aster.

This place was excellent and would be a regular for me in Austin. The hummus plate was a sizeable portion and I couldn't even finish it as one meal. I had added fresh feta to it and it was delicious. The sourdough with it was also excellent! The olive oil cake was out of this world tasty - and easily enjoyed by 2. The patio seating on the street offers a lovely view of the famous courthouse (climb it to the top for nice views and to work up your appetite).

    Bagel breakfast sandwich. Yum

Delicious breakfast bagel with coffee. Everything bagel spread with a thonsprwad of outrageously good cream cheese (not my personal fav) heaped with eggs, cheese, and avocado. Good coffee - I would like it hotter. Sat outside in the crisp air. Pastries look divine

Cute little restaurant with a few tables indoors and a few tables outside. They only serve breakfast and lunch, so get there before 2 pm. We arrived around 11:30 am and sadly they were out of bagels, which was what I wanted. Instead I ordered the eggs, bacon, and toast. Orders are taken at the counter inside and they bring the food out to you. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the jam for the toast was excellent. We sat outside under a crooked and gnarled mulberry tree and enjoyed the beautiful weather, then walked all over town visiting art galleries. Limited hours and limited menu, but nice breakfast. Peaceful location.

That said, it's a cool spot with great people and I'd happily go back. I ordered their signature breakfast sandwich, egg, bacon, and cheese on a biscuit. It was good, not mind-blowing. The biscuit was a little dry, which was a bummer since that's supposed to be the star of the show. I kept wishing for some butter or sauce to bring it together. On the flip side, I also grabbed a slice of cake and that was excellent, easily my favorite thing I ate there. For drinks, I got a matcha latte. They warned me the matcha was a bit earthy and suggested adding sweetener, which I did. I always wonder if "earthy" is code for lower-quality matcha, if ceremonial matcha doesn't really need sugar, but with the sweetener it was totally fine and enjoyable. The space itself is cute and very Marfa. It's in a converted gas station that's part coffee shop, part vintage clothing store, with vintage motorcycles to keep the gas station theme going. There are only a couple of tables, and it's not really a place I felt like lingering with a book or a laptop. More of a grab-a-coffee-and-move-on kind of spot. If you're visiting Marfa and heading out to explore, it's perfect for that. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. They were attentive, brought my food to the table even though they initially said it would be window pickup, and the place is dog-friendly, very relaxed, and unpretentious. I'd absolutely come back the next time I'm in town.

It's always a good sign when the parking lot is full in the middle of the week. Got a seat inside and waited. Then waited some more. The hostess seated a 14-top and we decided that we would leave if their orders went in first. BUT finally - a waitress. Friendly, though obviously harried by the unexpected mid-week bonanza. Drinks & food order in!! Margarita for me, Dos Equis for him, chili con queso, spicy chicken sandwich as shared plates. $22 marg was ABSOLUTELY worth it. Queso was SO good, with hefty chips made just right. Spice in the chicken - yes please. Did we wait, yes. Did we mind, NO. BEST PART - the people watching was PRIME. We could've passed another round & been entertained until closing but folks were waiting for tables and i was just buzzed enough on the ONE marg. Unfortunately, this establishment did not feel family friendly or kid friendly despite presenting itself that way. After waiting around 10 minutes just for someone in our party to grab menus, we were eventually served water and later had our orders taken. However, the overall attitude and repeated glares from the waitress/bartender, Gary Jean, made the experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Good service goes a long way, and basic kindness shouldn't feel like too much to ask. It became clear that receiving decent service was going to be more effort than it should have been, so we decided to leave before our food even arrived. To management: supporting your staff better may help improve the customer experience overall. A little hospitality can make a big difference.
