I had such a relaxing time today at V-star nails! On a very busy Sunday afternoon, I was sat pretty quickly for the amount of people who were there. Pricey but you get what you pay for. When I say pricey, I pay $25-$30 more at this place than the others that are in the area.

It had been a while since I went to the nail salon and this place did not disappoint. I did the pedicure with the wax and then they shellac manicure. They took their time with my nails and also gave me a relaxing massage on my feet. Used to go to a nail salon nearby and they seem to rush your service. Came here twice. Both time were pleasant. Chellac (Steaven) first time and ombre dip the second time (Mimi). Chellate lasted me 10days. Still not sure how long my dip set will last. French tip toe chellac was $45 plus tip. No message, nothing. The wait for 15 minute on a th ursday because i have no appointment. The facility is large and clean. Nothing luxurious or fancy, except for the price. The technicians were all polite enough. Posting both eyes so you can see I wasn't just sensative to the wax, Alexis just waxed my damn eyelid instead of my brow. My eye is really hurting, health board. Posting the pics of the progression of the burn over a few days which I shared with the manager Ivy, unfortunately I was met with "our bad, just use some ointment and we'll give you $18 back" At this point the cold and callousness of her response makes me not even want my money back (the way they fight they clearly need it more than I do). Here ia a funny story. My sister and I came in to V Star for the first time yesterday. I told the male receptionist what we were gonna get done (pedicure for my sister and full set for me) and I guess he misunderstood me. The lady told me to sit in the chair where they do pedicures but I told her I dont want my toes done, just my nails. She told me again to sit on the chair and again, I told her I didnt want my toes done. She started talking in her native language to her coworkers and I knew they were talking about me because everytime she said something, they would look back and stare at me. They werent even subtle about it. She told me stop moving my hands and tap it away. It made me feel so uncomfortable. That went on for about 10-15 minutes. And then I had an idea... I told her that I was Vietnamese and I understood EVERYTHING she said. The look on her face was priceless. Her whole vibe changed towards me. She went from 100 to 0 real quick. If I could give 0 stars I would. I have been coming here since this place opened and have always been a happy customer. I'm never one to complain or ask for something to be fixed as I don't like to make waves but I have had it. For the past 2 times a girl named Annie has done my nails. The last time she didn't cut them, did the refill poorly, and when applying the last clear shellac coat made a huge clump on my thumb nail. As this was Mother's Day I choose not to say anything and chalked it up to them being busy on a holiday. On Saturday I went back and I had Annie again. I decided to give her another chance. Nope, that was a bad idea. I don't know even know where to start. My nails are different lengths - my pointer very long but middle very short and they don't even match their counter parts. The refill wasn't done down to the bottom so there's a gap. They are painted on the sides. I asked for coffin and got square - like chunky square. Two nails are totally going to the side. I said something when I left and asked that I never be assigned to Annie again. The lady at the front desk understood and gave me an extra couple dollars off, which was nice and not something I asked for or expected. When I got home and looked at my nails I just kept seeing more and more things wrong. I called back and asked if I could have them fixed because I was very unhappy. The lady said yes and told me to come back at 10 Monday (today). So I did. Not only was Annie the one assigned to fix my nails, she barely did anything helpful, she just made them worse. She used the drill to file them so now the ends of my nails are rough and ugly. The shape wasn't fixed, the refill wasn't fixed, and when I told her that two nails were crooked she said it was because my finger is crooked! Well that's funny because before Annie I had never once had this complaint. And that was it. I was dismissed with nails that look worse, not better. I am now trying to find a new nail place. Probably Bella Nails in greatwood. I will never come back here. read more

I've been here several times. I made an appointment for when they open so I that can go smooth because I had a maternity shoot. Getting my nails done was very important for me today. I told them what I wanted and because I originally had dipped nails the nail tech LEE suggested I get powder on my regular nails and a shellac manicure over it. He said it would look so much better. I decided to give it a shot. I asked him to clean around my nails and he said that with water and soap it should come right off I gave him this look and he started wiping them off with a warm towel. I get up and walk over to the counter to pay. I am looking at my nails and the front clerk asked if everything was okay, LEE was next to her. I responded, actually no my nails look like a hot mess so she grabs a nail filer and starts to fix them at the front desk. I looked at them and still not happy. I started to walk away because again I was on a time limit but decided to ask her one more time to have someone fix my nails and she said WHY? You can clean them when you get home with acetone. I came here to be provided a service not to go home and have to fix what I paid for in the first place. Very disappointed will not be returning. read more

Don't do it! You'll regret it. If you are looking for a great set of acrylics, look elsewhere. As a nail fanatic who has years of nail knowledge, I went to try this new place out. It was one of the worst nail experiences. The place is new and super clean. Definitely a very friendly manager who offered a drink as a wait. Took about 30 minutes for them to get started on my pedicure. Mimi who did my pedicure did a great job. I left her a $10 tip for all her hard work. After that, then my acrylics were started. (They weren't worked on at the same time) My acrylic set looks like someone bought a set from Sally's to save a few bucks. The nail "tech"(I use this term VERY loosely) took a drill to my natural nail-bed. As I drew back and told him that I didn't want my nails weak and wanted them lightly buffed, he claimed that this was ok. FIRST RED FLAG. His name was Tommy, btw. I showed him pictures of the length and style I liked (a tapered square with slight coffin look) and that is not what I received. My nails are super thick with no natural nail curvature. They are flat and acrylic funk under multiple nails. My nails actually go "up" and not even down! There's bubbles in the acrylic. The bead pickup was too much and way too thick. I told the guy up front that I swatch polished often so I needed a great set. I have done my OWN acrylic thinner. If I wanted to go home and fix all his work, I would have done them myself. Inverted nails are a big no-no. Super flat. I told the manager and showed them the awful work and they wanted me to come in the next day to have someone fix. Not only did I lose out on a babysitter for the 2 hours there but I have to go back and get them redone? Will update after but I will post all my pictures of the horrendous work. Not once was a mention of a refund from them. Next day I went back and was allowed a refund in exchange to have the nails removed. My fav nail salon to go to in Rosenberg. They always put their best foot forward when providing services . It's really clean and the atmosphere is relaxing. They offer cocktails and soft drinks as well which is always a plus. I've been to several different techs here and all of their skill levels match so it doesn't matter who you go to you will be pleased. Just recently moved to the area and needed a nail salon that was closer than my old place in Sugar Land. I saw there were some negative reviews for V-Star, but after a friend recommended them, I figured I'd give them a shot. Came in for the Classic pedicure, and I am super happy! Literally was in a chair and then out the door about 35 minutes later. The pedicure didn't feel rushed at all though. I was very relaxed and the employee did an awesome job. The prices are great and there is also a rewards program where you earn points each time using your phone number. I'll be back for sure! read more

Well, I should have looked at the reviews before trusting them. I walked in and they handed us gloves and told us to pick our color. Fine, safety first. I am then seated and explain I want shellac on both hands and feet. No, problem. The guy didn't get his name gets to work and goes to town, not a problem all good there. The manicurist starts and keeps pressuring me to get dip nail over shellac. I keep saying no, I want shellac. I actually get tired of hearing it so I agree... YIKES! I should have just stuck to my guns. Not only did she cut my nails super short she ended up making them look like bubbles. They were so fat and round. I was watching her because I had never seen the "process" and she tells me "Don't look at me watch Ellen" ummm... okay. I don't really look at my nails because I was making conversation with the guy who is doing my toes. When I'm done she's quick to leave and I look at my nails and gasp! They're horrible. I show the guy and he just says it's not THAT bad it'll be okay. At this point I'm just like I want to leave. When I get in my car I do a thorough inspection and OMG! The dip is uneven and even bold in some areas not to mention all over my skin. I immediately call and the manager tells me to go back tomorrow and they'll fix it. When I get there the next day she wants me to pay again. No! I paid over $100 for both mani pedi and I expect my nails to look like it. So she puts me with the same lady and I bite my tongue. She looks at my nails and clucks her tongue at me like it's my fault she did such a crappy job. Anyways she FILES away the dip not soaks it and leaves it uneven and just paints shellac over it. Needless to say the shellac didn't stay either the same day it's peeling at the tips. I will never go back here again. Horrible work, horrible service. I have a cosmetology license and typically use it to buy professional products and do my own nails. Occasionally, I like to treat myself to having them done. I've gone to V-star for years and this time I came in for an acrylic refill with matte black shellac. I had my nails done elsewhere last time and am used to having to shape them myself after. Im ok with that. As this tech was doing my nails, I asked her repeatedly and specifically to make them all an even length and evenly tapered. She kept telling me my nails are uneven and she couldn't. Finally I told her that I could file them at home if she couldn't. She told me to file them at home. When she finished the service I told her I was going home to file the two nails that are obviously not ok, and I'd like her to reshellac those two when I return. She told me she wouldn't and the desk charged me full price. In addition to the nails being uneven and one being incredibly thick and bulky, there's terrible streaking and even some white streaks in the matte top coat that I was charged extra for. Everyone in here is so sweet and friendly, especially the male receptionist Kevin - offered me a complimentary drink, pillow, towel to cover my legs - these are all very thoughtful considerations. They also had a holiday special where you can draw coupons from a box - I got 10% off my services for the day! The salon is very large, spacious and clean - good for groups. I got a pedicure and the technician did a very good job - $35 for a classic pedi with warm towel, 5 min scented massage. Ben is great and the girl that did my toes was great. The work was pretty. But the lady that did my daughters nails was rude about the price and dishonest. My daughter got acrylic nails with powder. Which is $40. Plus 2 designs which cost her a extra $10. So $50 should have been the total for her nails. Which honestly to draw four lines on two of her nails to look like a candy cane is ridiculous to charge $10! Either way she charged my daughter $60 for her nails. When I mentioned this at check out she was very rude and argued with me about it. Then she only took off $2 which still was wrong! So she still overcharged me. Then she began to speak in her language talking crap about me questing the price! Her tone was so rude. You know when someone is complaining about you. So unprofessional. My daughters nails should have been $50 plus her toes $8 since she's 12 , plus mine $48 which was $8 more since I had to get my old ones taken off , plus my pedicure $22 plus my younger daughter $5 for finger nails painted with no designs. That's a total of $133. She was trying to charge me $141! When I mentioned the prices on the catalog and the work we asked for she disagreed and told me my daughters nails was $60! How is it still $60 when we downgraded the nails to colored powder to get the $40 price??? She then took $2 off and charged me $139. Instead of arguing with her I paid the $139 and tipped. Either way how she handled it was unprofessional. We specifically asked for the colored powder so my daughters nails would be cheaper and she still charged her a higher rate! I expect a manager to call and refund me the $6. Its not about the money, it's the principle of being lied to and over charging. That money could have gone to a bigger tip. I have been going to V Star nails for months now. Every time I go, the staff is always super friendly and accommodating. BUT... Today was a different story. I went in around 4:30 and as I was trying to pick out my colors, one of the ladies came over and basically picked my colors for me (I didn't ask for help). They seated me and both of the men that work in the salon worked on my shellac manicure and regular pedicure. My manicure was finished and I looked down to find polish all over my nails and skin. I had to peel my skin away from the nail which peeled the polish away. There were also huge parts of my nails missing color. The manager came over and I showed her my nails. She grabbed her stuff and redid my nails but kept getting interrupted with people paying. (I think she is the only one who deals with the money) The guy working on my feet went to town when scrubbing all the dead skin off my feet. He scraped them too much and made my heel bleed. It is now painful to walk. They were only willing to comp my eyebrow wax which is the only decent service I would have been willing to pay for. I was at the salon for 3 hours. Unfortunately, I won't be recommending V Star nails to anyone and will be sure to let others know of my experience tonight. I have never had a bad experience here. Yes, it's more expensive than my usual place in Sugarland, but because it's close to home, I'm willing to pay the extra. I always get the paradise pedicure which is $43, but if you pay cash you get 5% off, which isn't much, but it's something. The paradise pedicure comes with your choice of scent scrub (I always get orange), paraffin wax, mud mask, hot stone massage, longer massage time and also a 10 minute shoulder and arm massage! I've been here many times, but my visit on my birthday was pretty exceptional. Not only did I get an extra 15% off with proof of ID, but I had Steven, who is by far, the most thorough technician I've ever had. Period. I broke my pinky toe nail a couple weeks ago, and I let him know just to be careful with it. He was amazing! He got all the hard, dead skin off as well as cut the cuticles in the most gentle manner possible. I was so impressed! I know it's hit or miss with nail technicians, but if you're ever in the area from Thursday thru Sunday, ask for Steven! He is amazing and will not disappoint! read more
