Let me start this off by saying I'm new to the area and have been searching high and low for a quality salon that could do a dip manicure correctly and beautifully. I had tried mani-q (won't be going back) and J&J (who were so friendly and accommodating but didn't quite hit the mark) and was getting discouraged because my nail salon back home was hard to compare ! I made an appointment here last minute to try it out and they accommodated me perfectly. It's nice and clean, The women were friendly and helpful and listened to what I wanted, And last but not least the mani came out perfect! I was very impressed and will definitely be going back! Living in Chicago now, yet growing up around here, I always make sure to stop in V & V's for my nail fix when I come home to visit family. 22 bucks is a steal compared to what I pay in the Windy City. They have a huge selection of gel colors and always make my ugly nails look beautiful again. A old co worker recommended me to this place about 8 years ago and I've been trying to come every time I find myself in town. Wishing I could bring these ladies back to Chicago with me. I also brought my little cousin, she's 5, and they gave her a mani-pedi and were just so kind. Taking kids to a nail salon can be a gamble and I was just so grateful for how understanding they were when she got a little restless. The women here are fabulous. Very friendly and always chat you up and remember your name. They listen when you have a request. Snow gives a great pedicure! Kim does the best acrylics! Only once have I left there and thought that I could have had a better manicure - but it was someone I didn't go to consistently and everyone is entitled to an off day, right? I went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago. A coworker recommended it to my husband who got me a gift certificate for a manicure and pedicure last Christmas. I finally got around to using it. Honestly..while there was nothing wrong with it..I probably won't go back. The staff seemed a little unfriendly, not rude, but just unfriendly compared to other nail salons I have been to. I certainly don't like to be the center of attention, but here I felt invisible. Sorry V & V Nails my last experience there was dreadful. Since Hannah and Jane have left my nails have not been the same. My last experience was 3 people doing my nails and the experience was not pleasant. The woman who was doing the drilling burned every single one of my nails. There is no pleasure in getting a manicure done and being hurt in the process. Nothing about the experience was enjoyable. IN fact I left my last appointment and knew I would not be back. In fact my daughter said to me where did you get your nails done they look awful. I have since found a new salon and I am very happy. After finding the new nail salon I realized after all these years I was only just getting my nails done. Getting my nails done I still consider it is nice to be a little pampered and have a mani, not just getting my nails done which what I was getting at your salon. read more

I've been here twice, the first time was just to take off my shellac, from a manicure I received elsewhere. I had it on for 3 weeks and it hadn't budged, cracked, or chipped. They had me soak for 20 minutes, because that stuff was not budging! I was very happy that they didn't just scrape it off. Second time I popped in for a regular manicure, I opted for the Vinyllux polish. She barely filed my nails and I had to remind her twice to remove the clear polish that was on my nails, before she started painting. Other than that it was ok. $15 for the special polish and it lasted about 4 days before chipping. read more

This was my first time going here on Saturday. I live in the city currently, so I'm usualy used to paying $30+ for a gel fill. I was home for the weekend and decided to take my mom to get her first gel manicure, and myself a gel fill. I recommend making appointments for a weekend (obviously), and we had no problem getting in. I was highly satisfied with the quality of my nails and my mother's nails. She was happy, so I'm happy. I only deducted a star because I had 2 different people do my nails. I usually just like ONE technician do my nails. But, I will definitely be back when I'm visiting home! $25 for a gel fill, not bad! read more

My gel nails always chip too easily here. Don't get me wrong; I'm rough on them. I've probably gotten a half dozen manicures here and most last a week before one or two chip. I've gone to a few other places in the area and I like them better because they seem to last longer. This place is a little cheaper, but only by $3 or so. I'd rather pay the full price to get something that lasts a full two weeks. They're really nice though! read more

Very disappointed with my pedicure today. Also took my teen daughter and her service was equally poor. Pedicurist texting on her phone, left mid pedicure to go fix a manicure of another disgruntled customer. Sloppy paint job bled onto skin around nail beds. Cut nails uneven, diagonal line across end of big toe. No one helped us out at end. Charged us extra for nail kit but then threw away items instead of giving us the kit to take with us. Used to be good customer service here. Now it's just like you're a number, get you in and get you out. They take no pride in finished product. Have come here for years but won't be back. read more

I have been to this spot a few times and I am very particular on where I go for pedicures. The first few times I really enjoyed this place. Yesterday I went to get a pedicure and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had a salon. I should have known when I sat down and no one greeted me. Finally an older woman looked at me and gave me the nastiest look. Even the customer sitting next to me said "wow not sure what you did". I found out that the woman next to me had made a 9:30AM appointment but they didn't have her in the books until 10AM. But then didn't even start her pedi/mani till 10:30AM. No respect for time. Well I won the lottery (not a good one) and the older woman was who was doing my pedicure. I asked her to pay look at my big toe because I was having issues with the nail and pain. She told me she doesn't do anything to fix that and I would have to go to the doctor. Every pedicure I get takes care of the problem. She then starts cleaning out under the nail the dead skin and rather than wiping it on the towel she puts it directly on my foot. After that she barely put any lotion on my feet and they are as dry today as they were prior to my pedicure. I can say I will never step foot back into this place. They have gone extremely down hill. Oh and did I mention this older woman was friendly to every other person who stepped into the salon. read more

AMAZING!!! I am a hugeeeeee perfectionist. I need every nail to look perfect and I have longed for a place like this for so long! If you are remotely as sensitive to perfection like I am you will love this place. Kim, Alex, Lee, Snow, even the guy are great. You do have to book an appointment to assure a place since they do get pretty busy. I promise you it is worth it! II go once a MONTH, yes you read this correctly, once a MONTH because they last! I only have one star because I liked that they had liners for the foot bath. Worst experience I've ever had getting a mani/pedi! They literally gave me a GEL manicure while I soaked my feet! Such a hazard and liability for them. She at first had the UV machine on the arm of chair them she put it in my LAP!!! Um water and electricity don't mix!! Because she was painting my nails, I couldn't use the massage chair. The woman who was painting my nails was not friendly. I only soaked my feet for about three minutes before the lady doing my pedicure began. She barely scrubbed my feet because the lady painting my nails couldn't paint my nails could not paint while she was scrubbing. Totally horrible experience! read more

I went to this salon while visiting family over Christmas break. I generally do not get my nails done (not really my thing), but because my in-laws were going I figured I'd tag along and try out a dip manicure. The nail tech kept nicking my cuticles, and on three nails, she made me bleed. I cleaned the areas when I got to the house and didn't think much of it. The next morning I had a very dark spot under one of my nails. Because I hadn't had a dip manicure before, I assumed that maybe the polish didn't settle or something of that nature. I returned to my home state and went to a local salon to have the dip manicure removed (about a week and a half to two weeks after they were originally done). I had a fungal infection on all three nails where the nail tech nicked my cuticles (and drew blood). This place is clearly not very sterile as this has never been an issue in the past with other salons. I should have done more research ahead of time and maybe got onto the lady for being so rough. Never plan on returning here again and I would urge their customers to really think about how sanitary this place actually is...because if something like this happened to me, it can very easily happen to you. Now I get to deal with jacked up nails for 6-8 weeks while the infection heals. Disgusting. read more

A one star rating is one star too many. I have gone to this nail salon off and on for years. I was never really satisfied with the quality and professionalism of its staff, but hearing good things, I would return. Biggest mistake! I got a manicure and pedicure last friday (3/29/13). I asked the girl to please file down the sides of my toenails because of their downward curvature. The pedicurist proceeded to take nail clippers and literally rip off the skin along the nail bed of my big toe, from nail tip to cuticle. It began gushing blood, and she looks up at me and goes, "oh that hurt?" Umm yes, that definitely hurt. I was even more shocked when she put the pedicure tools back into the little cart that holds their supplies... I just bled all over your tools and you put them back among your other "clean" tools? Not only am I worried for others safety, but what about my own? Were the tools they used on me (that cut me) sterile? Disgusting. I left there, and now have an infected toe which required medical attention and a 10 day, 4 x's daily, round of anti-biotics. Thanks to V & V's negligence, I cannot wear sneakers, my toe feels like its falling off, and I'm limping everywhere I go. Learned the hard way, and I hope those of you reading this wont have to go through what I did. read more

I have been here a few times because I kept thinking it would get better. Over priced for what you get, or don't get. You are not greeted when you arrive and are left standing there waiting to be acknowledged. Not one of them has a personality. The polish choices are old and outdated, they rush through the manicures and pedicures, and they don't have up to date equipment for drying. They push every customer to get gel nails so they can make more money. They have special, attractive lighting over the tables which is never on so I have no idea how they can see what they are doing. Every free minute they get, the girls are on their ipads, phones, or playing sodoku instead of cleaning something or checking on their clients. There is no atmosphere and no one speaks much. It is a weird place. If you know anything about nail salons, then you will know quickly that this place doesn't have a pulse. read more
