I was unhappy with my previous nail salon so I came onto Yelp to find another local salon. Andover Nail Spa had a lot of reviews and was at the top of the list. I called at 10:50 this morning and was able to get right in for 11am. They were busy but had a pedicure station open and got me started right away. While one woman was working on my feet (sorry, didn't get her name ) another, Kim, began working on my hands. I have never had such a thorough but gentle manicure. The pedicure was fabulous, too. She removed all of the calluses from my heels, gave me a hot stone massage, and rubbed oil and lotion on my legs for several minutes, followed by hot towels to wipe them clean. All for the same price I was paying my old salon to do none of that. And I was home in an hour. Very pleased with my experience today. I have found my new salon!! read more

I've been going to Andover Nail Spa for a couple of years and appreciate that it has so many pluses....location, service options, cleanliness etc. But what I appreciated most yesterday was the Lead Manicurist's (Naia?) willingness to correct an issue I had with the quality of my manicure. I returned late in the day, but despite closing time looming, Naia used the situation as literally a "teaching moment" for two of her staff, demonstrating for them how elements of the manicure should have been done to preclude a repeat of my particular issues. I understand services provided are not always done perfectly (that's life), but what is more important, is how well and quickly problems are addressed and resolved. Andover Nail Spa, and Naia in particular, have earned this 5-star rating by virtue of the professional manner in which Naia validated my problem, took action to correct it and, with immediate training, took steps to preclude a recurrence.....BRAVA!! read more

Had a mani and pedi done at Andover Nail Spa today and I was impressed!! I picked my colors and sat in a chair where one of the nice ladies began my pedi. She took her time to care to my cuticles and toe nails. She then painted the gel on, exfoliated my legs, massaged them and applied oil and hot rocks that was sooooo relaxing . While she did my toes, another nice lady began on my nails. She had a great conversation with me and kept complimenting how great my color was. She even asked to take a picture of them and sent them to me. Both ladies were such a pleasure and everyone at the spa made me feel relaxed and at home. This was the absolute worst and most expensive manicure I ever got. I got a pedi and it was ok but she cut my toe which stung every time she used alcohol. Back to the mani. Look at the pics I posted. My nails are uneven. My index finger has a point on one side and curve on the other. Middle finger has a dip in the middle. My thumbs are both crooked. She never trimmed the cuticles so I have crud on the edges. My nails looked better before I went in I will never be back. I wish to stop payment on the outrageous check I wrote. $105!!! One more thing. It says Andover Nail Spa. Don't be fooled. It's NOT a spa. It's a typical Vietnamese nail salon, which charges outrageous prices on services you can get better elsewhere. Edited to add: on 10/23/15 I just wanted to report that I increased my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. First. It really was an awesome pedicure. I nearly fell asleep. Second. The manager called and sincerely apologized for the nail mishap. She offered to redo the nails for me. I'm away on vacation right now but I'll try to connect when I get home. I love the gel manicure and the pedicure is the probably the best I've ever gotten - and I've gotten a lot of them! I'm super picky about my nails - mostly the way they're shaped. I've tried so many salons and Lena is the only one that truly listens to what I'm looking for. She works with me to make sure that I'm happy and I've seen her do this with other clients. The salon is extremely clean and I never feel uncomfortable. I'm super picky about that as well. :0) I'm wondering if the bad reviews are from before the change of management/ownership. I have been coming to Lena for about a year and I just found out she is the new owner! I know it's a little more expensive than area salons but it's worth every penny. All of the girls there are professional, Lena especially. The polish jobs last longer than other cheaper salons and the long massage after pedicures are amazing. I have fallen asleep in the chair! I noticed Lena has good music playing now, you're always offered a cold bottle of water and my pedicures are good for about a month! I wish I could give it a zero! Service awful. Went to get a pedicure they took the girl 15 minutes to give me she dropped the implements on the floor proceeded to pick them up and was going to use mommy until I told her now and then on a gel you're supposed to wipe the nails off with an alcohol wipe I asked her to do that and she sprayed my feet with alcohol only clearly she had no clue how to give a a pedicure! Nails HORRIBLE HORRIBLE GEL SMUDGED ON GRET SND HANDS CHARGED ME $110 for mani pedi that left me with still horrible ferr. She didn't even put lotion On them. She had not clue. My nails are killing me from the drill That they used to takeoff the polish and my fingernails were burning after they put gel on them and put it under the special light I couldn't even stick my hand in there long enough the owner and the girls all I wanna do is make a Facebook they don't take credit cards only cash and checks and that's because they don't want to have to claim all the money they're making on their taxes it's filthy and I'm sure half of those girls they are not licensed manicurist and if they are they need to go back to school!!! read more

i honestly have nothing bad to say about my pedicure. the woman was nice and did a great job on my pedicure. i live in boston and was rushing to get my nails done for a wedding and they were very accomodating. i didn't even ask how much it would cost because i expected that it couldn't be much more than salons on newbury street, but i couldn't have been more wrong. $40 for a pedicure?? i almost feel like i was being robbed because i left about a half hour after they closed. in the city i can get a mani/pedi for $35. okay, scratch that, i definitely feel robbed. read more

Very bad experience. Place is way to small and congested. To many stay at home Andover mothers who make you feel uncomfortable. Got a gel mani and regular pedi. Gel hasn't even lasted a week, and then my pedi...after a week the color changed! Also who has the balls to charge $70 for a mani and pedi? In total I paid $80!!! I have been getting my nails done here for the last couple of years, every 2 weeks faithfully. The staff is very friendly and pleasant. The shop is always and I mean always clean. I have been there right until closing time and have watched them clean and wipe down every single item on every cart. All of their tools are fully sterilized, I have watched them put them in and take them out of the sterilizer. I probably wouldn't go any where else for my nails. With all that being said, I will admit the service can be inconsistent . Depending on how busy they are, what should only take 90 minutes with an appointment can sometimes turn into a 2 and half hour visit. A few times I felt like my appointments were rushed because of the over booking of appointments. I will say I have always left the shop with good looking nails. read more

Since Andover Nail Spa has been under the new ownership of Lena, the quality of service, the atmosphere of the salon and the professionalism have skyrocketed! The appointments are kept on time. It is by far the cleanest nail salon I have been to...and I have been to many, Boston, London and Paris. The nail technicians always try to please the customer and speak english extremely well. The prices are comparable to the other salons in Andover but the calm, nicely appointed interior far surpases all the others. I highly recommend this nail salon for both women and men. read more

After so many great reviews, I booked a spur of the moment gel manicure this past Saturday. I called and was given an appointment in 15 minutes. I thought this was a great, especially because I called at 11:45am. For the price, I was expecting God knows what but it was one of the WORST manicures EVER. No room available up front, so I was sent into the back side room where the nail dryers are, Ok no big deal. My manicurist came in, didn't introduce herself (Sandy by the way, according to her coat), tools on a not very clean looking dish and I don't know if they were sterilized because they looked kind of grungy, barely spoke to me at all, trimmed my nails, filed them...then worked on the cuticles. Whoops, NOT well at all. My cuticles are currently all jagged and rough. It's as if I never had a manicure at all. She didn't polish all the way down to the bottom of the nail bed, so it looks like 1 week grow out. Massage after, yeah right! She applied cream, a few rubs and thank you very much. I will give her this much, I asked that she apply the polish thinly as I tend to peel it off after it starts to grow out, especially if applied thick!. My suggestion to all manicurists DON'T READ YOUR TEXTS WHILE WORKING ON A CLIENT. So unprofessional and rude. I wouldn't do it to you, please extend the same courtesy. Final rant but I recognize this is a personal pet peeve: Keep your nail polish organized and not all over the place. Sort them by regular, gel, brand, whatever just don't lump it all together. Had a gel manicure...took less than 23 minutes and that's a full manicure?? My gel Polish is way to thick, not to my nail edge and was rushed. I always get gel nails so I'm not new to it, or a manicure. 30 dollars for what should've been considered a polish at best. The girl managed 3 people in less than 30 minutes I was there. Horrible nail job i used to get my nails done years ago and started again. I think they use MMA acrylic and it is banned in many states. Not sure about MN but I ripped off 2 whole nails off the bed of my fingers today cause the nails were so thick and would not give when i jammed my finger from just cleaning. the acrylic nail should break if it the right kind. Do not get your nails done here and look into MMA acrylic before you go get your nails done again. read more

I was shocked at the poor hygiene in the nail spa. They are over priced and yet will not sterilise their equippment, ( basically runs it under a tap for a few seconds and brings it back for use) . She asked me to wash my hands after removing the gel from my nails, as I walked out to do so -- she walked to the front door with the used towel, and threw the nail scrapings/ gel scrapings outside their front door...and folded the towel and put it back to reuse. They told me to come back to remove the shellac and charged me $10, she barely used any of the remover and basically scrapped my nails with the metal tool... never seen someone do it so badly. Never returning for sure-- infact I asked her not to use the clippers or cuticle remover because it was not clean from the previous person. I am shocked at their level of cleanliness and their shoddy job and yet they charge more than any salon in the area. It was not that they were busy either. The owner was getting her nails done and the other 4 women were sitting around... I couldnt get out of there fast enough!!! Maybe they could use the time to wash and clean their stuff!! I recommend In the Pink or LV nails. ( In the Pink is clean and removes the gel for free ) LV nails is very clean and do an exceptional job. read more

Okay Andover Nail Spa, this is a break up letter. I have been going to you guys for years for Shellac manicures/pedicures. I always found the quality of your work to be pretty decent, although you are pricey for the area. I probably would have continued going to you guys except for the payment issue. Over the past several months I have noticed weekend after weekend, customers having issues with providing payment. You clearly display credit card stickers on your window, and say you take credit cards on your website and Yelp, HOWEVER, I have never once seen someone able to pay by credit card. You always make some excuse about the machine being too slow, or being down - anything you can to make people pay cash. We all know why you're doing it - so you don't have to pay the credit card fees and because there will be no record so you don't have to pay as much in taxes. The clientele in Andover isn't stupid - we get it. That being said, don't tell people you'll except credit cards and then don't. I've seen multiple customers get embarrassed or upset by your lack of transparency. Hardly anyone carries cash anymore - you need to be clear with people upfront if you want them to pay cash! Not tell them after they've already had a manicure, and make them feel bad. Anyway, sorry but not sorry Andover Nail Spa - I'll be going to Mani Q in Haverhill from now on, where the manicures are $10 cheaper, the pedicures are $15 cheaper, and the quality is much better.
