Nails 2001 has been my salon for 4 years now, and I refuse to cheat because they've taken such good care of me over the years. Also, no one else can shape my nails the way that I prefer, the length and width that I'm comfortable with and also the product is durable with the way that I am so rough with my nails. I'm usually here twice a month but I'm not dying if it's 3 weeks since they still look so nice. All the services are reasonable and I enjoy hanging out with the crew. My first visit to nails 2001. And my last. Not impressed at all. I arrived with a gift certificate which was purchased for a mani pedi. It says that on the certificate and the price was noted. During pedicure the tech asked if I wanted him to put on callous remover. I said sure. I have never been charged extra for that but they charged me 8 extra dollars. Also no soak with manicure. I guess maybe that is extra too. Also it did not appear that tools were cleaned after each visitor and I saw the same file used on multiple customers. Creepy! read more

I went in for a pedicure as a walk in and was helped right away. The customer service was wonderful. I have very thick toenails and he did an excellent job trimming them. The foot scrub felt great also. Highly recommend this salon. I will definitely be back. read more

Very disappointed. Invited a friend to join me for mani/pedis, and was mortified by the way she was ignored by the staff. We arrived for our appointment, which had been made a week in advance, and one technician started working on me, but my friend was left just sitting there. After about 10 minutes we asked if they had forgotten about her. After another 10 minutes or so, someone did start her pedicure. We settled in to enjoy the rest of the afternoon, but soon we were to be disappointed again. After the pedicures were done, they asked my friend to wait 5 minutes for someone else to do her manicure, because an appointment just came in. My friend understood, and agreed, however after approximately 20 minutes she was still being ignored. At this point, she knew she did not have the time to wait any longer and had to leave, yet no apology from the staff. When I was finished and had paid for the service we did receive, I tried to explain my disappointment to the owner. I asked why they took a walk in customer and did her nails while we had appointments, and my friend was ignored. He had no response, and still no apology was forthcoming. I should mention that two other customers left unhappy while I was there as well. Needless to say I will not go back. I will say the woman who did my nails did excellent work, but the customer service was atrocious. read more

The owner and his nephew were working last night when I called. At first the owner was reluctant to take me , because all the ladies had gone home because they had been slow. I said if they would take me I'll come! It was him and his nephew, ( I'm so sorry I forgot names, I'm terrible) the nephew did an excellent thorough not rushed job.. the owner was very helpful with finding my color.. and he then did my nails and they are beautiful. I love Nails 2001, Stephen, Vicki and Chloe and the rest of the staff are always so accommodating and hardworking, you never see an empty station. They do good work and extremely pleasant and kind. I usually do a acrylics with gel polish and love all the color selections, I tried dip for the first time this week and loved how they came out. I recommend calling for an appt on Friday's or weekend even though they try and be accommodating if you are a walk in. read more

This was the most unpleasant hour I've spent in a long time. I was having some work done on my car nearby so I decided to walk over to get my nails done. I came in with squared off medium length natural nails completely bare and left with stumps well below my finger tips. I'm still in pain. The older woman who did them actually filed them shorter and shorter and shorter before, during and AFTER doing my manicure. She used the dremmel on my cuticles which was my first hint that this was a bad idea to come here. I had been before years ago and didn't like them then but like I said it was walking distance so I thought I would give them a try. The place was empty and now I know why. Nails look terrible! Lots of leftover paint despite her constantly wiping it off with her pointy and painful fingernail and a napkin of nail polish remover. I actually have lots of hang nails now too! Didn't have them when I went in. I will never go here again even if I'm desperate. I complained to the owner and he didn't agree that it was a bad job but offered to redo them anytime I'd like. First time here with a friend for a pedicure and full acrylic set. Clean salon & no wait... but that's because of their service. Both of our pedicures were rushed and the lady cut my toe and she continued to cut it again and make it bleed so hard that she had to stop and get a bandaid. I get it, some times you'll get cut but this one turned infected after a few days which I've never experienced. Could have simply apologized but she didn't. Neither of us got massages during our pedicure- which sucked as well. We decided to not get our nails done because the service wasn't good and so we proceeded to tell them we would skip the nails; they would not stop asking us why not. Kinda felt like those kiosk people at the mall who don't stop talking. Won't be returning. read more

DONT GO HERE! Visiting from out of town and was recomended to go here. Went in and was seated pretty quickly after I picked out my color for a pedicure. Had to repeat which color I wanted about 4 times before they got it right. Service was rushed and barely had any massage included. After my toes were painted they used the nail OPI dryer for my toes and they left it sitting on my feet so the lights were pressing on my toes. I have burns on my toes from the lights that are very painful. After repeating over and over that my toes were being burnt, the woman finally adjusted it so it wasn't resting on my feet. Photo attached shows one of the burns on my big toe and how the paint job was mediocre at best. 0/10 would recommend to anyone. read more

On the hunt for a new nail place since we just moved to the area. Was seated promptly and nails finished within 20 minutes with nice hand massage. I did not feel that the salon was as clean as other places but was going to give this place 3 stars for the service. However, I was sitting getting my nails dried when a customer came in and started arguing loudly with the manager. It was a very unpleasant experience and I left before my nails were done drying. It's a perfectly acceptable nail place but I will not be returning as there are better nail salons elsewhere. read more

I don't love giving bad reviews, especially now when these type of businesses are struggling with COVID related losses but...I'm just hoping that the owner sees this and reacts to it. I've been here before, about 5 years ago. It's close to my house and never crowded and I was desperate. I got a really cranky lady and a pretty terrible pedicure and vowed never to go back. I went back. Again, out of desperation, so I guess I got what I deserved! Got the cranky older lady AGAIN. She had 2 inch square cut acrylics and was killing me at every touch! I couldn't believe it! She wasn't even looking at my toes when she was pushing up the cuticles and was just moving the tool up my whole toe instead of my nail. No massage, ridiculously uncomfortable lotion application (she was hanging on to my big toe like a handle, it was bizarre), she's staring off into space...Finally, she starts painting. She gets all irritated because she got my color polish on her giant acrylics...she's leaning down over my toes and drags her hair through my freshly painted first coat. I HAD to say something. "Your hair is all in it!" She looks at me, stops painting, hands it over to the young, very sweet girl to finish. In the end my toes looked great and I gave a generous tip (hoping that the cranky older lady doesn't take it all). If this is a family (husband, wife and daughter), please have the cranky lady do the stocking, bookkeeping, ordering....keep her away from direct client contact. It's not her strong suit. read more

Went on Saturday nails chipping on Tuesday. They used same towels on pedi chairs and they looked dirty. They ask if you want lotion on your hands? Thought that was part of a manicure? Polishes almost empty. Came here a few times before but was really grossed out this time. Obviously cleanliness is not a priority. Will not be returning. read more

I was so happy to find this place open on a holiday. I got a pedicure and it was ok, but the male nail technician was supper good. He offered to draw a design on my nail and then after he was done I slammed my toe against the dryer. He repainted it to be just a beautiful as before. I stopped in here for the first time today for a manicure- BIG mistake. She convinced me to do powder, which was fine, but I selected an "ombre" paint color which looked really pretty on the nail sample. My nails turned out half pick and half white, and every nail looks completely different. A few just look like pink and white candy corn with 3 stripes on them. Hands down the WORST manicure I have ever gotten. The girl didn't even say anything, so I finally said I'm sorry but these look awful (and I never complain). She said oh ya, well I messed up on a couple of them, want to just come back later and I'll fix it? Ummmm...no! Terrible customer service, and I actually paid for them which I shouldn't have. I just had my very first manicure and pedicure at this place. Yes I've never had them done before. With my wedding coming up I wanted to start taking better care of my nails. This is a family owned salon that has been open since 1996. The technicians were super nice and talked the whole time with my friend and I. The nail polish selection was great! It wasn't fancy but was very clean and I could see the UV light sanitizer in the back of the salon sanitizing the tools. I got a pedi and mani for $35. Which is REALLY cheap! It was well done and I'm very happy with the results! I will be going back in two weeks :) read more

Stay away!!!! I went there on Friday to have my nails done with shellac nail polish, and my nails started chipping the day after. I asked the guy to shorten my nails, and he cut them all in different lengths and very unevenly. I had to go home and fix them to the best of my ability. He also left some old nail polish, so now my nails just look dirty since you can see the old nail polish through the new one. The place felt dirty, and I don't think he cleaned the tools in-between costumers. I will never go back there, and would recommend to stay away and go somewhere else. read more

Great place. They pay a lot of attention to details. I went in for a pedicure, and I wanted to do French polish. However, I have white spots on my nails and have a hard time covering them up. The guy who did my pedicure was meticulous and used multiple colors to cover the spots. My toes look fantastic. Definitely recommend. I will be back! read more

TERRIBLE! this place has been my normal spot for years and recently i got a manicure here for a bunch of upcoming events. it was super messy and when i asked them to touch up the edges they were hesitant. 2 days later, all my nails were cracked and chipped. i called and they quickly fit me in. when i arrived the man at the front told me that "manicures don't last long" and they'll "only do this once" ... i am aware they don't last long, but chipping the day of is not good. very rude and i could hear them all talking about me and glaring at me. never coming here again. read more

I got a pedicure here last weekend. The girl that did my toes did a nice job. She was friendly and paid attention to the details. My toes look great and the polish has stayed on nicely. I do wish the massage chair worked and the foot/leg massage was better. My friend that was with me had a different experience. The woman that did her toes (the mom?) was rude and gave no massage. I made an appointment yesterday morning after googling where in Newburyport I could have a manicure/pedicure done. After reading some positive Yelp reviews I decided to make an appointement for 12:30pm. When I arrived I was asked to pick out my gel nail color and within a couple of minutes after choosing my polish I was sat to start my pedicure. A young lady named Vang who waited on me was very nice. She was pleasant and easy to talk to and did an excellent job. During our conversation she mentioned she had several siblings who also worked at the Salon and spoke highly of the professionalism as well. I went in to get acrylics with an almond shape. Not only was the nail tech so aggressive he made me bleed twice, he also cut my nails too short (only asking me after if i wanted them that length) so i couldn't get the shape i wanted. for $50, i walked out with acrylics that were nothing like i wanted and two bleeding fingers. read more
