Pappardelle al Ragu di Vitello and Cavatelli al Fior di Pesto

The ambiance is classic, cozy, New York style with so much to look at on the walls. The pasta was to die for - I'm someone who does not like pesto, and my friend's pesto pasta was amazing, so much so that I would order it myself. I'm not someone who loves to repeat a nyc restaurant, but this one is definitely a must go again!

The best Gnocchi in all of New York City, every time I'm in New York City I make sure to stop at Uva. I love everything about this place especially the gnocchi. The service is always exceptional and the restaurant has amazing vibes. I love bringing friends and family here as well.

UVA NYC never misses! I had the most comforting plate of truffle cream tortellini -- rich, velvety, and perfectly balanced with a generous dusting of parmesan. The sauce was indulgent without being heavy, and every bite felt like a little piece of heaven. The cozy ambiance, candlelight, and a crisp glass of white wine made it the ideal New York evening. If you're craving authentic Italian with a touch of romance for date night, UVA is an absolute must.

It's a wonderful Italian restaurant with a very romantic vibe . Dimly lit with candles.I ordered the gnocchi and enjoyed it very much .Although i did feel saturated towards the end .The servers recommend excellent wine pairings. The malbec recommended to me worked very well with my diner..

Rigatoni Alla Siciliana

I've been wanting to try UVA and was so happy when I finally got the chance. We started with the ricotta bruschette which was very good but smaller than I expected. They also provided us with bread for the table which was cold and could've used a dipping sauce aside from plain olive oil. I had the eggplant parm for my main which was tasty but not the best eggplant parm I've had. My friend had the rigatoni alla siciliana which she really enjoyed. My other friend had the salmon which she really liked except for the endive that came with it. Overall a good meal and very friendly staff!

Our love affair with Italian food continued with a very good dinner at Uva (reservations recommended on prime nights). We were seated to an absolutely packed restaurant at our promised time and noise levels were on the average end with pretty much all tables occupied. The restaurants felt sufficiently staffed though, and there was absolutely no service issue, in fact, it was fantastic. Uva has a very romantic vibe to it, and as inviting as their cocktail and wine list looked, our dry January had comfortably flowed into March, so we got straight to ordering our dinner which included their ROBIOLA CHEESE AND BLACK TRUFFLES ($12) and POLENTA TARTUFATA ($19) as appetizers - both absolutely fantastic, but the Robiola being the winner. For mains, we got a few pastas including RIGATONI ALLA SICILIANA ($26), CAVATELLI AL FIOR DI PESTO ($26), and PENNE GRATINATE ($26) - Cavatelli being an absolute winner! Their desserts though were really fantastic, especially their TIRAMISU ($11) which was very delicious. We will definitely return here again!

The last day of our New York stay we wanted to have real authentic Italian food after our Guggenheim visit.... yes, this place was featured at NHONY but to me that would not matter. Pappardelle and Gnocchi Ricotta were our main dishes after a delicious salad (Bianca) and polpettine. Delicious, full of flavor and obviously using the correct ingredients as we did not feel drowsy afterwards (seems to be an issue with Italian places in our experience - maybe an issue California?). Finished our meal with real gelato and a torta di mandorle (almond tart). Ambiance? The place is quite dark but luckily we were able to sit at the back patio which helped a LOT. Quiet and plenty of daylight, while still easily accessible for the staff. Great place.

This is a great late night place on the Upper East Side. I like the atmosphere of the place, which is dark with mood lighting, and it always seems full. Service has always been great too. There are several vegetarian options on the menu, which is always appreciated! Last time I went, my husband and I split the pesto pasta and the eggplant pasta - both of which were very good! I preferred the eggplant pasta, and he preferred the pesto! I have also had the eggplant appetizer here and the antipasto plate - good to share. I also liked that they had two mocktails on their menu. I tried the one based on the moscow mule, which was good, and I would order it again. I will definitely be coming back

This place is amazing! Perfect vibes for brunch and dinner with both indoor and outdoor seating. We brought my friend for her birthday and she loved it. All the pastas are amazing, but if you have to choose do the gnocchi, it's truly incredible. Their specials are always great and truffley and the pasta is always Al dente

I've been wanting to check out Uva for quite some time now, as it's in my neighborhood and looked like a cool Italian restaurant. I am very picky about Italian food though, having lived there for many years, so I try to find places that would have fresh pasta as well as authentic Italian cuisine. My friends and I decided to go here for lunch last weekend, and sadly it was way too loud and felt chaotic. It was very hard to hear one another due to some noisy tables, and on top of that our server brought our entrees even before we got to finish our appetizers in peace. It felt a bit rushed, which was a bit frustrating to me. Overall, food was good. We ordered the burrata and the fungi bruschetta. The burrata was delicious and the fungi bruschetta was average. Next for our entrees we all ordered pastas. I had the ricotta and truffle gnocchi which was delicious. My friends also liked their pastas. I would give this place another try and come for dinner, when hopefully it will be less loud and chaotic.

Cold Brew Espresso Martini, Penne pomodoro, and Mezzelune Boscaiola

Whenever I visit NYC, UVA is the first thing on my itinerary! Located in the Upper East Side, UVA is perfect for delicious Italian food and a cozy atmosphere. The prices are moderate yet affordable for the quality of food and dining atmosphere. The brickwork and warm lighting made it especially appealing at Christmastime. While visiting this time, I tried the Mezzelune Boscaiola (mushroom and prosciutto ravioli) which was creamy and savory. My friends tried the penne pomodoro and the gnocchi di ricotta. Normally, I get the gnocchi - and you should too! It is perfectly chewy and rich. The service was speedy yet personal - we were in a bit of time crunch to make our next cocktail reservation and they accommodated perfectly! I'd recommend UVA to anyone who calls New York City home or to anyone visiting!

Is the private room downstairs accessible for a wheelchair?

That will be very difficult, looking at the age of the building.

Do you deliver?

Hi there, Yes absolutely, via seamless or Grubhub! https://www.grubhub.com/restaurant/uva-1486-2nd-ave-new-york/2201528

What are the hotels near by?

There are a couple of hotels near that area (Gardens Suites Hotel, Loews Regency New York, voco the Franklin New York, The Carlyle, The Mark Hotel, Courtyard Marriott, etc.), but FYI most Manhattan hotels tend to be pretty expensive...

Is seating currently heated?

No, they are not.

Has this place changed hands? We visit quite a few times through the year. Was there last night and it felt like a totally different vibe

I'm wondering the same thing!

Price fix dinner?

Nope. Plenty of appetizers, entrees and desserts.

Is their pasta handmade?

Yes. All pasta except for penne!

Does Uva have a happy hour?

No.

Are you allowed to eat here even though your under 18?

Yes

We made it just in time for some happy hour, bring on the muled wine. Then continued the night with a wine flight and some Lambrusco for me. Before coming here I forgot how good a Lambrusco is and this really reminded me by having it as an option in the flight then by the glass. For food I had the whipped ricotta and the arugula salad, I mainly was craving the whipped ricotta but that ended up having a lighter flavor and the salad was my preferred dish. The servers were great though, we stayed almost to closing after a friends jacket on the coat rack was taken by a different patron and we waited until they could come back and swap. Thank you to the servers for helping track down the other customer and getting that situation taken care of.

Wanted to write this review based on the wheelchair accessibility and laptop areas…read more There are coffee shops in the neighborhood with laptop rules that say you have to sit at the high tables. Obviously as a wheelchair user, I cannot sit at the high tables, and when I have asked the staff for understanding, other places have denied me. The coffee is excellent - I believe it's roasted by devocion. I also love how they serve their coffee in glass/ceramic cups and glasses for those dining in. I usually will get the healthy start - I love their dressing and the eggs are always seasoned perfectly. The staff are nice but can seem a little stressed when things get busy. While deciding where to go one day, this was suggested and im so glad I went. The restaurant is cozy with tables inside the main dining room and in an enclosed outdoor seating area. Im guessing it opens in the summer. I sat down with my niece while waiting for my sister and for a good 5-7 minutes, no one stopped by and gave a menu nor offered water. Finally after about 3 people walked by not saying anything, someone came. The area is not that big and 7 minutes isnt that long but to sit there any not be addressed by all the staff walking by was annoying. Finally my sister came and we were offered water and a menu. After hearing about the specials and asking for recommendations, we settled on the gnocchi (housemade potato gnocchi, burrata, peas, pesto sauce, toasted pine nuts), Pappardelle alla Bolognese (housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce), and side of sautéed spinach. The food arrived and we were pleasantly delightful by the main. The gnocchi was so soft and creamy, the sauce was delicious. Im not a fan of gnocchi but this was so good. The papardelle was my meal and it was also so good. There was a lot of pasta and a good amount of meat sauce. It was also delicious. The spinach on the other hand was bland. It has no flavor and we had to add some salt. A few times we tried to call someone over to our table but felt like no one was paying attention. When we were done with our meals, my sister had a few pieces of gnocchi left. She asked for a box as it was to be my nieces lunch for tomorrow. I then said, can you also box up the spinach. A few minutes later, the server dropped off a bag with one container and said here's the spinach. We tried to call his attention but he was already walking away. Where was the gnocchi. Finally when we came back, we asked about it and he said oh I thought it was garbage. I said no we asked for it to be boxed. He said let me talk to the kitchen. He came back and said sorry, they cant do anything but one dessert will be on me. I guess thats fine but we more wanted the food for the baby. For dessert we ordered a tiramisu and pistachio gelato. The tiramisu was in a jar as opposed to a cake slice. One bite of the ice cream and I knew it was bad. It was grainy and sandy texture. I looked up why that would be and one reason stated it could be improper storage, like it was unfrozen or melted then refrozen. I wasn't chancing that. I told the server and said I couldn't eat it. He offered another dessert but I said know, then offered a limoncello shot. While I appreciate the offer, we weren't drinking before so that wasn't the best option to offer. I just said im fine without a replacement. When we got the bill, the dessert was taken off like he said he would. We paid and left. Overall the main course/pasta meals were delicious. The sides and desserts could use work. Service was alright. Id definitely come back for the food and to try some of the pizza.

The decor is simple but cozy, it seems like a place you find yourself in, in the middle of the week. This was basically an eggplant parm and the eggplant was cooked perfectly, the cheese was ok but the sauce made this dish really tasty with the nice homemade focaccia they give you in the beginning. Branzino Special with Cannelli Beans and Swiss Chard. This was the winner of the evening. The cripsy skin was amazing. The fish was cooked to perfection, the cannelli beans I thought were going to be weird but it added a nice creaminess to the fish. Lastly the swiss chard was crunchy on the ends and nice and tender on the leaf. This should be put on the regular menu. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=xNVfJCmf89OOY-1ME3FY7Q Controfiletto- grilled prime angus N.Y. strip steak served with roasted marble potatoes. I hate to say it but as good as the steak was, the roasted potatoes was the star of show. The potatoes were amazing. Pappardelle alla Bolognese- housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce. This was good but came off a bit plain. The pasta was homemade but it was almost to a fault since the pasta came out too soft. The flavors were good but I felt this would have been a better, reheated the next day kind of dish.
