Black and White cookie and Run Cake. Don't sleep on the cake, it's that good!

This place is a hidden gem in the middle of Apex. If you blink, you'll pass right their place. The only reason I learned of them was thru a friend. It seems to be that they have a word of mouth reputation, and that's a good thing. I ended up going and getting a Sausage and pepper roll. It's more of a loaf than a roll. It's definitely big and delicious. I got a black and white cookie. Typically they are a vanilla based cookie but this one was a chocolate base. It was unexpected and a great surprise. The sleeper of the items I got was the rum cake slice. I'm going to tell you that I think they put crack in it because I tried eating half and just kept wanting more. It was moist and velvety. This cake was deeee-licious! I will definitely have to come back and try more items.

This spot is a food truck bakery so definitely more of a to-go place, there are just a few chairs with string lights out front. They have a variety of European baked goods including cannolis, cream puffs, cookies, savory options and more. We ordered the Lobster tail with chocolate hazelnut cream which was massive, definitely would split between two people if not more if you're planning on trying other things on the menu! I had never heard of a lobster tail pastry before, but it was essentially two cones made of the most flaky and buttery croissants filled with cream and dusted with powdered sugar. Getting to the bottom of the croissant cone was like the amazing feeling of eating the end of a drumstick ice cream cone with chocolate. The croissant was perfect and stayed crispy even with all of the cream, though I probably wouldn't let it sit for too long in case it were to get soggy. I almost wished the ratio of croissant to cream was even higher because the croissant was so good (though the cream inside was quite delicious as well - overall sweet but not tooo sweet). We also snagged a couple of plain cannolis which had hints of lemon and were also delicious. Prices were reasonable and staff were friendly and took orders/prepared everything in a timely manner. Definitely a gem for Italian-European pastries and baked goods, and worth the drive to Apex.

I've been here several times since my original review and I've tried the Italian rum cake, chocolate chip walnut cookies, cheesecake, cannolis, lobster tail assorted Italian cookies and the eclairs. Everything we've tried has been beyond reproach! Service is top notch, everyone is so friendly and patient. Another reviewer commented how it reminded them of the bakery in the Virgin River show and it does! I love the vibes. This is definitely my favorite bakery.

Cute little spot! Make sure to come early because this place is hopping! We got the cannoli and chocolate eclair. Then while waiting in line, the owner came and gave everyone samples of the tiramisu.

"Virgin River" right here in Apex Fabulous place and pastries. We ordered a variety. Rum cake is delicious. We have not ate the rum ba ba yet nor the lobster tail. Will update when we do. We arrived on a Sunday around 2pm. No one in line. Not sure which way the line supposed to go. Viewing window to the right of place to order, but pick up window is the right of the viewing window.

So happy that I found Utica a couple of years ago! Their pastures, cookies, cheesecakes, quiche, Italian bread, rum cake and so much more is authentic and delicious!! Their prices are great as well. Renee & Phil are so kind and love what they do. They also care about their customers. I've been in and out of the hospital the last 5 months and they would message me asking how I was doing.

We came to this bakery for a snack because the reviews looked too good to ignore. The location is a picturesque trailer on a side street. You can see many of the baked goods through a window and the staff is quick to get you your order. We ordered an almond creme croissant and a piece of chocolate zucchini bread. They threw in a day old pastry for free, which was very nice. The croissant tasted fresh and the pastry layers were defined, the almond topping wasn't too sweet. The zucchini bread was the perfect level of soft texture and the sweetness was just right with the chocolate chips. Plus the slice was massive. The day old pastry was a thick cookie-like dough filled with a blueberry jam and was awesome! Next time, we'd like to try more savory items, like a quiche, but overall a great place to get pastries.

All the buzz on every foodie page on Facebook is about Utica. I've even read about people driving hours to buy their delicious baked goods. Amazing! My spouse visited while I was recuperating from surgery so I just waited in the car. I guess you can't really see the items until after you order and purchase, which is kind of weird, but it's a trailer, not a store front. Hopefully with the following they have an actual brick and mortar won't be far off. Everything she purchased was delicious and incredibly HUGE! The eclairs that have a delicious chocolate frosting on top were stuffed full with custard and enormous. The almond croissants are so good I nearly screamed and again, massive! Nothing was less than very tasty. I understand the lines are getting longer all the time and I want to be at the head of it next time we visit!

The baked goods at Utica Bakery are delicious. I drove across town to give them a try after hearing about it recently. The bakery is just open three days a week and they do sell out of items. I ordered a chocolate eclair with custard (it was huge); meatball cookies and an assortment of cookies. Everything was so good that I am planning a return trip to try other items on the menu.

Can I just tell you how much I love their pastries?!?!? We tried them for my birthday a month ago and we've been back every weekend since. The lobster tails are fresh and the filling options, Oh the options available, could I just have them in a bottle? The first two times we got the custard, I've never had a good experience with the cannoli cream so I didn't even consider it an option. Utica Bakery thank you for showing me the error of my ways, I tried the cannoli cream and I'm a convert! It's light, creamy and with a hint of citrus. Finding good NY style pastries in NC is virtually impossible until now. Utica bakery is a small, family run business based out of what looks like a house (with a fountain) hidden away in Apex. They offer all your favorites: lobster tails, cannoli, cream puffs, black and white/ half moons, Italian cookies, crumb cake, bread, cheesecake and occasionally the elusive rainbow cookie. Recently they started offering tomato pie. Follow them on Facebook for giveaways where you can pick up a box of goodies. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have limited hours being only open on Friday - Sunday. Worth the trip! read more

I am so excited to find a bakery with authentic pastries from Utica. Stopped in today for my first time and had a hard time not buying every pastry they had to offer! Ordered som lobster tails they give you lots of filling i recomend getting filling on the side if your not going to eat them right away. The pastry was very crispy and tasted fresh. The filling took away some of the crispiness when they sat over night. A must try if you never had one read more

How do I not have a picture of the deliciousness that Utica bakery makes possible? The only reason no pictures exist is because my family eats the food too quickly for me to actually capture a photo of it. We've had their bread, their creampuffs, their lobster tails, their cookies, their cheesecake... And everything is delicious. We were just turned onto this location with a Christmas gift of bread and half-moon cookies and I truly can't imagine any bakery ever living up to this again. Love love love it! read more

I have made several trips to Utica Bakery, everything is delicious. They have an assortment of Italian cookies, cream puffs and eclairs that are filled while you wait, adding to their freshness, very authentic Italian goodies just like Little Italy or Boston's North End. The owners are so friendly and nice, I look forward to my weekly visits, Utica Bakery certainly adds flavor to Apex. read more

I was kind of confused and worried driving up because this place is a converted RV in a small plot of land. But I'm glad we stopped because the desserts were really good. We had an eclair and chocolate walnut bread (?). Both were really good, among the best I've had. Especially the eclair. Prices were reasonable for the portion size (in other words, not super cheap, but big sizes). Unfortunately for my taste buds, or fortunately for my stomach, they are only open Friday-Sunday. So don't be put off by the appearance and give it a try. read more

Honestly the best dessert I have had since moving from up North and they are the nicest people you will ever meet. The cannolis are delicious and when I was there last week I tried the raspberry bar and a bar called hello dolly, both were so good! Yummmmy! We got a cannoli with chocolate pieces which was so yummy and had a hint of lemon. We then got a loaf of Italian bread which was by far the best bread I have had. Very friendly staff who are happy to recommend the yummy pastries or answer and questions. read more

Hey if you're looking for a great bakery that's got all the goodies you are missing from up North then this is the place for you!! Great Italian pastries from a professional chef sold from store that's part of their house. Right next to Rt 540 on Apex Barbecue. Open only Friday to Sunday unless we can convince them to expand. Black&White cookies (called moon pies), rainbow layer cookies in size of small cake and much more plus great breads. I'm old school Italian from NY and love this place since relocating about a year ago. Fugetaboutit!!! read more

We happen to drive by this morning and glad we did! The sausage and pepper rolls and pepperoni rolls knocked our brunch out of the ball park. Tried an almond apricot croissant and OH My Word, I am hooked. Loved their classic almond croissant but the added apricot is a nice treat. The team was so patient and friendly. It was hard to find. The sign is small and the place looks like a house. Actually, it probably is their house and business combo. Nevertheless, glad we found it. The owner is great. Everything is fresh and homemade. We bought pizza dough, pizza shell, cookies and an eclair. This is filled at the time of order. You have three options: whipped cream, cannoli cream or Bavarian cream. The owner insisted we sample all three. Yummy, so good. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

I'm from Rome NY, near Utica, so I was so happy to see this bakery open up in Apex. At the first location I went as soon as I could to get a cannoli and to see what they had. Was not disappointed! Super friendly folks as well. Now they have a food truck in Apex, even closer to my house! Went a couple weeks ago for some half moons, and let me tell you they were the best I've had. My coworkers agreed. I try to tell every former New Yorker that I meet down here in NC about Utica Bakery. read more

The friend I was with just wanted to take a peek at their menu so I walked over with her. She mentioned that she didn't like brisket and I briefly questioned our friendship. What kind of person doesn't like brisket? The guy at the window apparently agreed and offered her a sample. I tried it too and immediately ordered a plate of brisket to take home for dinner. This is the best brisket I have had since I've moved to NC. Possibly the best brisket that I've had ever if I'm telling the truth. I'm a huge brisket snob and this was so good it's got me still fantasizing about it. It was served with a side of coleslaw, which sort of tasted like cabbage with a bit of vinegar. I didn't love the coleslaw, but who cares about coleslaw when you have brisket like that? I'm going to be on the hunt to find that truck again. I need that brisket in my life.

So in love with this bakery!!! Every weekend I stop by and always something new. A fantastic Old school Italian Bakery in the heart of Apex NC that rivals the best northern bakeries. Rum cake just like I grew up with- out of this world delicious!! The meatball bread and Prosciutto bread were off the chain and the quiche was the best I've ever had. They give a big square of seasoned focaccia to eat with the quiche which is perfect alongside the creamy savory quiche. We wanted to try everything but there's so much to choose from it wouldn't be possible. The giant Lemon white chocolate cookie excellent and the sfogliatelle the same. Did I mention how lovely and knowledgeable the young lady at the window was? So nice to be greeted with a smile and friendly attitude. Sure there's fancier looking bakeries in the area but none compare to this place for authentic Italian baked goods.
