Wonderful authentic bakery. The breads are spectacular and the desserts are mind-blowing! I highly recommend the Bee Sting and the Cherry Strudel. I loved the lemon bar, and I can't wait to come back to try more! Definitely a multi-trip locale. We're making good vibes and good choices!

There is simply no better bakery ANYWHERE. The food is unique and super fresh. Every item is made with the absolute finest ingredients. The bakery itself is designed beautifully and stunning. So spotlessly clean, it deserves even more than its 100 Rating. To say the food is incredibly delicious doesn't give it the credit it deserves. The ownership and staff are second to none. They make every item with a special ingredient - love.

Streusel from Annelore's Authentic German Pastries
Janelle V.

My boyfriend and I stopped by the Farmer's Market in Raleigh today and happened to notice the Annelore's stand as we were leaving. We ordered a piece of streusel and LOVED it. My boyfriend's background is German, and he claimed it was the best streusel he'd ever had. It was $4 for a generous slice, and we were informed by the gentleman that the cherries were actually imported from Germany. We're already planning on going back tomorrow to order some more things :) I tried to find a website, but all I could find was their Facebook page, which can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=77531560949

The beesting- not overly sweet!

Service was top notch with friendly folks greeting you the moment you enter the doors. Our bartender was so sweet and so welcoming. The chocolate brownie is thick and rich, but not too sweet, and the marshmallow cream is divine, especially with the ice cream. A lot of their drinks and gin based, which I'm not the biggest fan of, but I always find something I can enjoy. The service is great and relatively quick, and everyone I've met there is kind and willing to help. The inside is a bit small, so smaller crowds are better and it does tend to get crowded later in the evening and on weekends. The outside street sitting area is nice too and hopefully will be fully fixed soon. Overall a great places to stop for drinks and desserts after a nice meal! And the menu rotates seasonally so you'll always have the chance to try something new!

The ice cream shop is located in the smoky hollow area and is across the street from Madre. Walking into the shop it feels modern, social media friendly, and you can see the assembly line where your paleta can be customized. To order you'll walk up to the counter and place your order with the cashier. I went for the strawberry cheesecake paleta dipped in white chocolate, covered in graham cracker crumbs, and topped with caramel drizzle. The paleta was delicious and I'll definitely be back to try the other flavors.

I finally got the opportunity to try it recently and I brought my boyfriend and his brother along with me. When we arrived, The person working there was nowhere to be found and we stood there confused for a while. When he finally came out to the counter he seemed to have his mind completely elsewhere with headphones on his head, and he even told us to "ring the bell" when we were ready to order, and turned around and left into the back room. Finally, after making up our minds and placing our order, As he was preparing our cinnamon rolls he was grabbing them from the glass enclosure thing and literally throwing them into the to-go containers, the impact they made upon landing made an audible thud. The service we received made the experience Cinnaholic disappointing, but once we ate the cinnamon rolls that we bought they were very tasty. The "old skool" flavor was our favorite one as cinnamon rolls are very sweet so any added toppings just push it over the edge. I did feel like the rolls were lacking that ooey gooey cinnamony center, and I wished the frosting was a bit more evenly dispersed over the roll as large dry spots were exposed. But overall they were yummy!

First, since they are located in a congested area, finding on street parking is a bit of a challenge. Also, be aware that they have a "cash" policy during lunch hours which isn't indicated on their website. I was unaware of this policy until we saw the sign on the front door upon our arrival. When you first walk into their establishment, they have prominently displayed a sign to be sure to tip their staff. A bit unprofessional in my opinion! In addition, they have a large tip jar on the counter where you place your order, I guess in case you missed their other tipping sign! We placed an order for 3 burgers with fries and 3 iced teas which came to almost $62. The food was fine but nothing exceptional for the price! Due to the lettuce and other produce issues currently going on, I requested no lettuce or tomato but instead to add pickles. When the burger arrived to the table it literally had 1 small pickle chip sitting in the center of the burger! Is there a pickle shortage I am not aware of? My two family members had also asked to have the lettuce and tomato removed yet one of their burgers still came with both of those ingredients on the burger! On a positive note, the music they played was enjoyable and the photos displayed on the wall were a nice touch. Finally, one of the employees came to our table to ask us to leave so they could mop the floor! I was unaware they closed at 2:00, which was my error in not paying attention to the lunch hours on the website. However, I think they could have been more professional in letting us know their lunch hours were ending! We arrived shortly after 1:00 p.m. and mentioned to the guy taking our order that it was our first time there. It would have been a great customer service courtesy if he had mentioned they would be closing at 2:00 so we had the heads up to pay attention to the time, or we could have decided to go elsewhere so we weren't on a time limit. I don't plan to return for the above mentioned reasons and won't personally recommend them to my family or friends. However, if you choose to go, I hope your experience is more positive and that my review will help to eliminate the negative experiences I had during my one and only visit to Hayes Barton Cafe' & Dessertery!
