This has got to be one of the worst post offices in Seattle. Over the years we have had our mail stolen because these postal carriers place our mail and packages ontop our mail box. If it had not been for Julie or Becky we would not have gotten our mail over the years. We are now in a transition period of temp or new postal carrier and it went from bad to worse. Just last week the carrier threw our packages at our screen door, the booming sound made me come to the door and see what had made that sound. What do I find the carrier and a guy with a clipboard standing on our sidewalk, great it was thrown from the sidewalk. Wow much appreciated. NOT! I went outside to speak to them and was ignored several times, finally I got their attention I asked if I could ask a favor for the carrier to not throw my packages. Also to not leave any mail or packages on or mailbox or front porch. This winner of a carrier told me to place a note on my door on where I wan packages left. Wow, that is smart. Let the thieves know exactly where the packages are located. I told him I was not going to do so and he continued to deny he even threw the packages in the first place. My daughter could hear us talking and she also heard the booming the packages being thrown at the front screen door. Guy with clipboard rolled his eyes at me 3 times. After telling this new carrier just where he can leave our mail and packages I think I finally got through to him. BTW: this post office will do nothing about stolen mail or stolen packages. Our mail is most often delivered very late or the next day as if the carrier keeps it overnight and delivers it in the early morning hurs and then we get another delivery later in the day. Sometimes we are watching the 11pm news and we have a mail delivery. read more

I dropped off a package addressed to a customer in Ohio and the retards somehow scanned it incorrectly as delivered/individual picked up at post office in Seattle. This by far the worst post office!!!! I put my mail on hold frequently and they screw it up nearly every time by delivering the day it goes on hold with sporadic delivery during the hold time to not delivering accumulated mail on time after hold. This review is mostly to make people aware that even though it says online that they do passport photos, they DO NOT. They tell you to go over to the Rite aid and come back. Otherwise, I actually prefer this usps location. I have always had good service and if there is a line it seems to move quickly. read more

One of the worse customer service post offices I've ever been to. It's 6pm. I'm at the door to pick up a package. There are customers already in line- the customer service guy wouldn't let me in. He said they are closed- they close at 6pm. I'm standing there at 6pm. Really- you won't let me pick up a package with the pink card you put in my mailbox? What is up with people. The epitome of why the USPS is going bankrupt. Repeatedly going to this location during the evening rush hour, because I have no other choice when I have to pick up a package, there are 2 clerks working while 10 - 12 people stand in line. No one calls for additional help and I have to assume the post master cannot schedule properly. Thank you for re-enforcing the government worker stereotype. I just bought a new house, and I called yesterday to figure out where to put my mailbox. The guy I spoke to was far from helpful and kind of jerk-ish, but said he would have someone call me back. Nobody has called me back. I don't have days to sit around and wait because my mail needs to go somewhere! My gut is telling me the guy I spoke with on the phone didn't have the answer to my question and he didn't want to be bothered about it anymore. I've tried calling this post office 10 times today and not once has anyone picked up the phone. I guess they take long lunches on Friday's or they all just have Friday's off. Absolutely horrible. I don't go inside the post office too often but when I do I always have my packages ready. I print off the labels at home so all I have to do is give it to the person at the desk even though there is someone he/she is already waiting on. My problem is when I have packages ready to be picked up at my home. I would say about 30% of the time they leave mail in my box put don't pickup the packages on my porch which means for me to make a trip to the post office when sometimes it is not convenient for me. read more

i understand and i know how it feels to be under paid, if they are, but their benefits are way better, let say good enough than other employees, but still that does not mean that they have to do their job in a lousy way that they don't care if they deliver their parcel or package in a wrong address and they will tell you when you check or verify that somebody grab it from their hands before they finish scanning the code. this is the most stupid alibi that i heard from a supervisor. now it showed me an update that the package was delivered in postal code 98126, instead in 98106. this is the worst ever post office service that i see is in this post office. i thought we have a worst postal service here in california, did not expect that it is way worst and bad there in seattle, specially in this post office. read more

Friendly, helpful staff who made sure my package to England was sent as economically as possible. Thanks for going above and beyond! At the same visit, a carrier dropped by with an unstamped envelope that one of his customers had forgotten to stamp when they left it in their box for him to collect. Listen I know this post office has huge lines and is obviously understaffed with the janitor who mops the floors during the busiest hours because he is a douche... However take into consideration these employees are underpaid and all their equipment seems to be poorly maintained or out of date/broken. Now they have costumers being aggressive jerks to you for things that you have no control over. Yea I worked in the customer service industry... I get it... Lines out the door, two Asians at the counter, only one speaks English and knows the postal business (He translates for the other one...) If this were a business, it would immediately fail. It really burns me to see an entirely foreign born staff with such widely varying competency in English and Postal regulation. Due to my address I have been forced to use this post office for 19 years for holding mail and other address-dependent services. Nearly every time they get it wrong. They have held mail and never given it back, they have held mail and lost it, they have NOT held mail when we requested, resulting in a dangerous pileup outside our front door. Sometimes they get creative and hold part of it and deliver the rest to someone else. Recently I unwisely sent a Priority Overnight delivery from this office. Did it arrive on time? No, of course not. I just checked on it's status and guess what? 48 hours later it is....ta da.....still at the Trenton post office. The lines are long and there is no reward for the wait. Go out of your way to a competent post office if you possibly can. read more

There was a long line. I can understand the reviewers hating long lines, but it's Seattle. There's a lot of people here. Everybody needs to get things done, just like you do. And really, it was less than five minutes for the staff to help the six people in front of me. Read the cards if you're impatient. The whole staff seemed friendly. I appreciate you, Regina! We live in West Seattle and get our mail delivered from this post office. My complaint? The mail is ALWAYS late! Getting mail at 5 p.m.or later doesn't help me one damn bit when I need to get to the bank by 4:30. Sometimes we get lucky and it shows up by 4. But 5 p.m.??? When I called to find out what was going on, I was told that the mail person who is supposed to be our regular carrier, had been calling in and that they had to "bid" out the route. Seriously? This is inexcusable. I've had a good experiences whenever I have had to go inside the post office to pick up or drop off packages. There is an African American manager that works there that always goes out of her way to help me every time I see her. Thank you! For this I am grateful. I have always had bad service at the PO, but it is time to share my depression.I have most recently been discriminated against for some unknown reason, when I wanted to move my box off the sidewalk and to my house, like half my block does, but my mailman said I can't. I called the PO to see if I could at least turn the box 90 degrees and below the fence line, so kids can't take my mail with out missing a step. nope I can't even do that. Very unhelpful... For the past 2 years, I have lived in the delivery range of this Post Office location. I have had numerous issues with getting my mail delivered and when I go in to inquire about the packages the Letter Carrier ALWAYS seems to remembers putting the package in my mailbox; he never seems to remember delivering me the wrong mail though. It is usually Doris ( one of the Supervisors) I deal with .... I'm sure she's a very nice person but she never seems to show any concern that my mail keeps going missing. I will say that the Clerks at the counter are pretty helpful, but the letter carriers and the supervisors need some serious improvement. read more

I must say the other reviews seem overly negative. You have to judge the service based on more than lines. I visited today to get my passport removed, calling ahead and getting a polite response to my questions. Today was a negative experience only because of the person standing outside the door holding up a sign "dump Obama" and painting him with a Hitler mustache. The postal employees were polite in explaining that the First Amendment gives them that right (correct) so long as they weren't disruptive (they weren't). My passport was processed well and the people behind the counter were just as nice as could be. Give 'em some credit - they are working a job that is probably pretty miserable, dealing with impatient people who expect Nordstrom service. read more

You know what? I like this post office, I like the way my mail is delivered from it in the morning, and I like my mail man. I've never had a problem getting a package mailed out from there in a reasonable amount of time and have found the people working the counter to be knowledgeable and friendly. read more

This is the worst post office in Seattle. Pak Chau should be fired. I called to make a passport appointment, not for the same day, but later in the week. After being on hold for fifteen minutes, I was curtly told that the passport dept was "in training" and that nobody could help me. I was told to "have a nice day" and hung up on. I called back, not entirely certain what had just happened. I got the same "gentleman" and explained that I had just been on hold for 15 minutes and all I wanted to do was make an appointment for later in the week. Again, not his problem. I asked if it was possible to pencil something in, and was told to not be "sarcastic". Obviously this supervisor does not understand that concept. Before Pak Chau started yelling at me to not "take that tone" with him he told me I could take my business elsewhere. Really? This post office is poorly run, and needs an attitude adjustment all across the board. I will never step foot into this place again, not while the current management is in place. Pak Chau should be relieved of his duty. He is a poor example of the service I'm sure the postal service is trying to extend it's customers. read more

Always crowded and with only ever two attendants. I mailed a box to Ohio and it came back a month later completely damaged, mangled and half open. They told me it was undeliverable as the house was vacant. No definitely not vacant. I confirmed the address and told them I needed this package to arrive. The man argued with me. Never once offered an apology. I asked if there was anything I can do to better ensure its arrival. He shrugged and said "if its vacant, its vacant". I asked to certify it. After paying the extra 3 bucks he says, "well that won't help". I asked if the packed could be expeditated and he said "no you didn't pay for that" 100% their fault and nothing they are willing to do. I almost lost my cool. I'm fuming now. read more

We have owned our house in WS for almost 12 years. I have 2 dogs. For 11 years there was never a problem with delivery...some carriers even came in the (fenced) yard and delivered the mail even if the dogs were out...they knew the dogs are friendly and were comfortable. I understand the carriers safety is important. For that reason I installed a second mailbox at the fence so that any carrier that felt uncomfortable could leave the mail in that box. But, one carrier wouldn't come in to put mail in the primary box (on the porch where it's been for 11 years) NO MATTER WHAT. First of all, the dogs are NEVER out if we're not home - NEVER. If they are barking I come out to see what';s going on. Most of the carriers would hand me the mail. Now, however, because I removed the second (safety valve) box (because one carrier refused to come in the yard at any time- dogs or no dogs) the manager at WS Westwood decided that I 'moved my mailbox without his permission")...no, I still have the same mailbox I've always had for the entire time we've lived here (and the owners before that). He's now threatening me with calling animal control (WHAT?)...my dogs are always kept in the fenced yard unless on leashes...ridiculous (grasping at straws as they say). It's no wonder the USPS is having problems staying in business...bad management, bad judgement, tunnel vision. I offered an "olive branch" solution and they pissed on it. Now I'm pissed. read more

I've had the displeasure of dealing with the Westwood post office for 20 years. Fifteen years ago, I experienced a series of events with them so illogical and then retaliation by them simply because I tried to have a conversation with them about it, that I have not had a mail box at my home since, a status that forever perplexes the delivery folks. But today ... I was "schooled" that they are still inept in the most basic tenets of manners. I did some business at the self-service kiosk and then walked into the main service office to get some Priority Flat Rate Padded Envelopes that I had seen there the day before, when I took exactly five of them so as not to be "a pig." I used three and decided to get a few more. The moment I stepped inside, I was literally yelled at, "THE POST OFFICE IS CLOSED!!" I was in shock from the aggressiveness and all three clerks finishing up with the last customers looked up at the outburst. I maintained complete calm but was truly kind of shaken by the yelling, "Oh, I'm sorry. I just came in to get some Priority packaging." "ALL THE PACKAGING IS OUT IN THE LOBBY!!" "Oh, well actually there's the padded envelopes in here that aren't out there." "NO!! YOU HAVE TO ORDER THOSE PADDED ENVELOPES." "Oh, well they were here yesterday so I ... ." "I'M NOT GOING TO ARGUE SEMANTICS WITH YOU." Throughout this exchange he used his body (not touching me) to "press" me out the door. ... There are 500 other nonhostile ways he could have disallowed me access to the packaging, with which I would have gladly complied, apologized for not realizing the time, had a quick, light chat as I left ending in a "Have a great weekend," etc. ... The management at this post office has treated the public for 20 years as "an enemy." Typically, I would have empathy with these people and whatever it is that makes them so miserable that they endeavor to make anyone asking a question equally as miserable. But I've been in my share of miserable jobs, and the way to make it better was to "commiserate" with my customers by staying upbeat to help make everyone's day and lives as bright as possible. And even the nastier the customer (and let me be clear! I was absolutely polite throughout the ordeal I describe), the more fun the challenge was to get them to be a tad brighter. read more
