Kenneth Richard is the supervisor at this location and is a HERO. My package didn't arrive on time and the updates weren't telling me much. Kenneth actually WALKED with me to my building so he could figure out what was going on. He found my package and his attitude the entire time was amazing. As someone who works for USPS, if you want to mail a package you're better off paying a little more and using UPS, FedEx, or some carrier. This is the worst post office I've ever had to frequent. They are completely miserable people that snap and give you attitude for literally every question--questions that are completely commonplace for being in a post office--"may I borrow a pen?" "Could you show me where the mailing envelopes are?" Evelyn was the name of the person snapping at every single person that came through in the 10 min or so that I had to endure being there to mail my packages. This review is actually for the gentleman that operates with WA Lottery kiosk located inside this particular post office. At least once a week, I stop in for a chat and a lottery ticket. The gentleman that operates the kiosk consistently has a positive attitude and always has something pleasant to say. If you happen to be in the area, stop by for a ticket and say hi! Please be patient, as he is visually impaired, but no doubt, carries out his kiosk duties as well or better than the sighted. read more

On a good day, when staff is not suffering an invasion of drug addicts, the office and the staff provide stunningly good service- clean and tidy, all kinds of special packaging and priority mail services, patient instructions on how to use the many different services, tons of different kids of stamps, point of sale systems work, its all good. On a bad day, when staff is overwhelmed with "non-customers" of the post office, with piles of clothes and belongings in the doorway, with people shouting and shooting up just 4 feet to the left of the front door.... its miserable. I think all postal employees are taught to go at snail speed, the only difference here is the employees were friendly, outgoing and funny. Which made the wait much more bearable. No pens anywhere, and the boxes always seems to be a mess and never have the size I need. read more

Not to say that government agencies are horrible or anything, but every USPS office I've visited is slow AF. So you can imagine I was dreading visiting this location when I was renewing my expired passport and had to mail my original ASAP. I decided to go on my lunch break, fully expecting to spend at least 20 minutes here...if I'm lucky. But, no. I was here for five minutes, in and out. First of all there was a very short line, which was not expected. And by the time it was my turn the employee saw that I was renewing my passport and quickly looked over the documents and mentioned that my photo was not up to regulation since it was showing my teeth. She strongly recommended that I go to Bartell's (down the street) again and have it redone. It was very much appreciated because the last thing I'd want is to wait four weeks, to learn that I had to renew my passport again just because my picture was ineligible. So after quickly getting another passport photo done I went back to USPS to mail the entire application, which the same employee looked over again and told me that she deals with passport applications/mailings all the time and just wanted to be sure that I was going to get it back without a problem. So grateful for her help! And I don't think most USPS employees would go out of their way to review a passport application before mailing it off, to ensure that all was well. First off, I do not have high expectations from a federal institution as my impression of them are inefficient, slow and nobody seems to know what the hell is going on pretty much all of the time. However, we are on the road for a lot of the time, and have resorted to receiving our mail via General Delivery. So, this is one of the post offices we were told that provide such a service. A general delivery is when one can receive mail there at a post office upto a month. Just a name, general delivery and the address of the post office should suffice. The general delivery service at this particular post office is available MON-FRI 9:30 AM to NOON. So, we queued to ask at which address should we request the general delivery. In bigger cities, we are generally given only a zip code. Not only was the male attendant very unhelpful, he wanted us to go ask at the general delivery window for the address. ??? This has me scratching my head, why can't you give me the general delivery address for this post office?? Since it was closed, we obviously couldn't do so, so we were at an impasse and he was determined to not help other than to tell us go to the general delivery window, which was already closed for the day! So, we queued up again, and asked the other lady for the general delivery address. She helped us out. And we were able to collect out mail a few days later when it arrived. For that reason solely, I give it 3 stars. But truly, that old unhelpful gentleman manning the window should not be allowed to work there! What an attitude! Why can't he give us a general delivery address?? I am speechless and still perplexed!!! read more

Please be respectful of people who stand on their feet all day long, week after week, year after year, helping you, and have some gratitude. People in Seattle who complain about the Post Office service make me crazy. I've used lots of branches. Even at Christmas, the service is good and fast. The longest I've ever waited is 15 minutes, and that is rare, usually its well under 5, and sometimes I swing right on in and don't wait at all. Seattle PO grouches should try picking up a package in NYC. They'll realize that they live in postal paradise. Please think of that before you write a nasty review because you waited 5 minutes. PO work is hard. Go read Charles Bukoski's Post Office for a taste. All of us can be petty when we run into a problem, but we can also drop it and reflect. read more

Three little words sum up why I keep using this particular Post Office branch: Automated Postal Center. That's APC, yo. Mostly, it's your average United States Post Office. The lines can be long and the service can be slow, though the postal workers always seem mostly friendly and well-meaning. A recent remodel of the main area of the building left it looking pretty much the same as before: basically clean but vaguely dingy. (I'm pretty sure they forgot to change the posters out.) The location is convenient, especially if you have occasion to be in downtown Seattle almost daily, as I do. And there's always the APC. The line could be going out the door, and very few have the inclination to use this machine, as it almost always sits empty, just waiting for me. Using it, I can weigh my package(s), print postage, get insurance or delivery confirmation...pretty much everything the postal worker would do, other than smile his gentle, nonconfrontational smile, of course. And I'm done in minutes, package posted and out the door, while the line I was looking at as I came in hasn't dwindled. Others may have different reasons for coming here...the inscrutable mysteries of humanity might yield some clues as to why. For me, it's simple: the location is convenient, and I gotta get back with my APC. Word. read more

I always pre-meter, walk in, and drop off in the vestibule with all of the PO Boxes. There's a little newsstand inside as well if you're looking for any of those related items. Lottery tickets, gum, snacks, etc. But yeah, it's a post office. Now look amazed! read more

Poor, poor, poor customer service. Acted as if my fault somehow Post Office put my package in locker and never put key in my PO Box. Have signature on file but while dealing with one issue, they made another mistake and criticized for not checking my PO Box before going to Lobby. Another time guy claimed my mail must have been sent somewhere else when in fact was there. Use this place for the convenience but standards are incredibly low. Place is run down and have seen a broken door not replaced for nearly a year. read more

What a great experience! I'd never been to this post office before, and generally have a substandard time at the ones I frequent. This location was excellent. I had a large item to return, and had no idea how much it would be to get it back to the shipper. Even worse, it was shipped to me in a large bag. The gentleman (no name tag!) at the 4th counter from the right (1:15PM on 10/24/16) was super helpful. He gave me the best rate they had, found the best way to package my unwieldy return, and was effortlessly courteous. All during the post-lunch rush. I wish he had a name tag so I could call out his excellent customer service! read more

Very rude cranky woman working there. Lines are long, place is filthy and managment isnt good. This place has been missing pens for 6 months now. They used to have them judging by the pen chains but whatever happened they don't want to replace them. The lines would be so much quicker if there were pens on the side counter for when you are waiting in line. Simple thing but would make a world of difference. read more

This is the worst post office I've ever set foot in. First of all, it's dirty and stinky. Second, the line is very long; expect a 30 minute wait at any time of day. Third, the employees are super slow and unprofessional. They rarely have more than 1 or 2 clerks at the counter no matter how long the lines are. read more

20 patrons in line (literally) and two federal employees who are nearly flatlined ghosts of people barely breathing and moving .00001 mph. And pens? Yeah...no. They don't have ANY EXTRA PENS IN THE ENTIRE BUILDING SO expect your time in line to be 2 years longer than it would have been if they did have extra pens u could use while u are waiting in line. Frigging hysterical and ridiculous! Oh and They also can't give you a 4 inch piece of tape to put over your address so that the ink doesn't run. And these people are not friendly. I realized my passport needed renewal while renewing my driver's license downtown. I searched online to see if the Union Street post office would be able to renew my passport. It stated on the website that this location could really only help with new passports and that was after 10am. It was 945am, I was nearby in any case, and decided to drop in and see if they could at least help me determine the correct packaging to use to ship my old passport to the State Dept. I went in, got helped immediately by two staff members, and stated my purpose. I went over to the passport services window and was helped by Miqe. He gave me the correct package to ship my passport back. I asked where close by I could get a new passport photo taken. Miqe said they could take the photos there and helped me renew my passport as well. He helped me through the entire process from photos, to paperwork, to money orders, to packaging and shipping. He was patient and pleasant. Sometimes government agencies get a bad rap. In this case the US Postal workers were extremely helpful and incredibly professional. Thanks. read more
