The employees at this post office are so kind. I tried visiting several post offices to get fingerprints taken, but each one had a different reason they couldn't do it. Mercer Island said their machine was broken and would not be repaired. Redmond didn't have a staff person who could operate the machine (from the reviews I read it's been that way for months). Issaquah has one staff member available for fingerprints from 2pm to 6pm. It took me 40 minutes in line to find out that the machine was down for the day. This post office also has a temperamental machine, but one employee was willing to give it a try. The machine here decided not to cooperate and take my fingerprints, but I was overjoyed just to have a chance by the time I made it here. Thank you for letting me try! read more

The old lady who works here needs to be fired. She is stuck on her old ways and doesnt know new technology. She constantly declines my shipments when all her coworkers and other post offices always accepts them. What she does when I drop them off in the drop box instead of her is she holds my packages for more than 2 business days. What a great Post office. I am in there four days a week with eBay shipments for henrysfriendlystore of Sequim, WA. The staff are the most professional of any business I deal with. Their knowledge is amazing and have been a great help to me. Not only that but their attitude makes being there enjoyable for customers and they seem to love helping people. Other employees helpful, but Rhonda wears a face shield and not a mask and doesn't even have it down over her face. She's working directly with people, a shield in between which doesn't have full coverage. I see another review complained as well. This violates the state health mandates. A reasonable accommodation might be to put her in a position that doesn't work directly with the public and have a face shield that actually covers her face, but with it propped up it doesn't do anything. This is what you get after decades of insufficient funding for an important public service. The lighting is grim and industrial. The building badly needs maintenance. Everything is dirty. The employees are depressed. Things are slightly disorganized and hard to find. The services offered are extremely limited and expensive. If you can, go to a La Post in France to see what a post office can be. Bright, clean, vibrant, fast, inexpensive, with a plethora of up-to-date services and offerings. We could do so much better. They sent my package back to sender in another state because I was not home. Instead of reaching out and asking me to come pick up the package at the hub they just sent it back. They held onto the package for 2 weeks and kept updating the status to next day delivery and never delivered it. read more

This review is for the 2420 4th Ave S 98134 USPS location. Our place of business have been opened over a year now and we have yet to receive our mail delivered by our mail carrier. I have made reports 5 and 2 to the Consumer Affairs Agency about this situation and still have not gotten any resolution. Despite having to make direct calls to the post office to speak to the Manager -Pat. They have not returned any of my calls. All other businesses around us have their mail delivered except us! This branch makes no effort to correct the problem or to take action against the mail carrier. We feel we are being singled out and discriminated and it is NOT FAIR! Something has to change and quickly. You would not expect this type of behavior from a United States Postal Service. Let me preface this by saying that I never write reviews, but my experience was so horrible I just had to. There is this old white lady (Rhonda) that you must avoid at all costs. She is unmasked, clearly hates her job and tries to make you waste as much time (and money) as possible by nitpicking everything she can. I've sent many international packages through other USPS locations in Seattle and ran into no problems with my other experiences, but Rhonda was an absolute nightmar. First she insisted that my customs was not filled in correctly. Then she said I had to write the to/from locations in sharpie on the box (even though there is a printed label for that). And then the most ridiculous part of it was she claimed that the first page of the shipping forms had to be taped onto the box (I've never had any other USPS employee do that for international shipments). She made me buy an overpriced $4 tape just to tape it onto the box! It is an actual scam, especially since other locations would just offer some tape. What should've been a 10 minute experience turned into almost an hour. Needless to say, I will not be coming back. read more

People wonder why the postal service isn't doing so well? It's in part the staff they hire. This location acts the worst because they're a central hub for Seattle so they think they're hot stuff. There is an older, white woman who runs the front counter and must wake up every day and chooses violence. She is THE grumpiest postal employee I've ever encountered. JUST FIND A NEW JOB!! She will nitpick every single thing about your transaction until you're screaming to get out of there and doubt your item will ever get delivered. My other concern is that she only wears the clear face shield visor and not a face mask. There is no way that thing protects anyone against COVID. While waiting in line I've seen multiple staff members walking around with their masks around their chin. Why force customers to wear them when you won't do it yourself?? read more

Came in to drop off a pre-paid package and heard the two clerks gossiping/complaining about the previous guy. Didn't think much of it until one of them (Xiao) treated me like crap, denied my package because it was supposedly 3 pounds over what I paid. She said there was no way I could just pay for the extra 3 pounds, and I'd have to go home, get a refund on this label (turns out that was not possible), redo the entire transaction and come back. After several requests, she grudgingly agreed I could take the label off and ship the package as if no label had ever been created. She said she couldn't give me any label to write on and I'd have to write directly on the box. I asked for a sharpie. She said nothing and just pointed at a counter with some ballpoint pens. While trying to write the information on my cardboard box, another lady came in and got a similar treatment. This lady kept saying, "I just want to send this package, isn't that what you do here?" to which Xiao kept pushing back and throwing up roadblocks. Obviously she feels her job is to find any reason possible to NOT send out packages. This lady got frustrated and left. The same two clerks immediately started gossiping/whining about her. At this point, with my ballpoint pen on cardboard looking ridiculous and poking through the cardboard in many places, I told both of these rude clerks that I'd be taking my business to UPS. As I left the building, I thought I should go back in and get this rude lady's name. As I walked in, I could now hear them gossiping/complaining about ME. I politely walked up to the rude clerk and asked her name. At this point she dropped the rude/F-you type attitude and went into cute innocent mode. "Oh, my name?" "Yes, your name." "Oh, it's Xiao." and she nicely smiled.....yeah, not falling for the cutesy act. As I left again, this time absolutely livid, I noticed a number for customer feedback on the exit door. I tried calling it. A laughable automated system asked for my 9-digit zip code, which I entered CORRECTLY. It said the zip code couldn't be found and the useless robotic voice hung up on me....wow, great. Called USPS customer service about 8-10 times. Absolutely useless, left messages, tried every option, couldn't get through to anyone except postal inspectors, who obviously don't want to deal with this kind of nonsense. I searched Google, tried calling the local "consumer affairs" manager listed on the USPS website (Dana Blakeslee)....number is disconnected. Finally after 4-5 times talking to postal inspectors (the only people I could actually get on the phone), one of them gave me the number to local consumer affairs. After FINALLY getting a hold of someone locally, I thought I'd made some progress.....nope. Filed a complaint with Sharnett (sp?) and received a callback from the Georgetown USPS on Orcas (NOT the SODO USPS on 4th). I called back and clarified the location. Again, I received a callback from the WRONG POST OFFICE. I had to re-open the case twice because it was closed out. It's been almost FIVE WEEKS and 8-9 hours of my personal time spent dealing with this and I STILL haven't received any communicae from anyone at the correct branch. IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS HARD (BORDERLINE IMPOSSIBLE) TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK ABOUT HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! It is clear that there is NO meaningful process for addressing or identifying the HORRIBLE and RUDE "customer service" at this location, therefor this behavior is completely unchecked and everything probably appears perfectly functional from the outside to higher level managers (if they even care in the first place?) At this point, I have clarified for the THIRD TIME which branch I am talking about and who I expect a callback from. I am not optimistic I will receive any such callback....on the small chance I do, I am even less optimistic anything at all will be done about these horrible employees OR the horrible (non-existent?) "system" in place to provide feedback about them. My uncle and both parents worked at the post office. My parents met each other at the post office. I literally would not be here if it weren't for the post office. I wanted to support USPS because they are under assault from the federal gov't right now. At this point, as far as I'm concerned, I hope the are dismantled piece by piece and everyone employed there ends up begging for a job from a private carrier such as FedEx or UPS who actually seem to uphold a reasonable standard of customer treatment and whom I have NEVER had a single problem with. It's sad that Yelp seems to be the only place I can turn to air these grievances. I'm sure nobody at USPS is reading this, nor do they care one iota. Screw em! I went from trying to support them, to hoping they are defunded and shut down entirely! I hope they all lose their jobs very, very soon and end up having to work at a place where customer service and customer feedback is actually valued. read more

My West Olympia branch is great! The USPS gets lots of #@!! for a number of reasons that makes little sense, based on my interaction, with this office. Great counter people and it is so nice to have a post office near me. (tip: the lines are very small compared to the main OLY office) Ask yourself- could you get a parcel from Olympia to Tampa in 2 days - as promised. If there was a way for me to give this place negative stars, I would. Let's be real, none of us have the highest expectations when we go to the post office but this place is the WORST. Let me tell you a story about my boyfriend (who happens to be Black) attempting to cash a VALID money order that was sent to him from my mom as a gift. When he attempted to cash it at the post office, it was withheld for at least 30 minutes because they accused him of fraud. No explanation was given. It was looked over (ONCE) and then taken...and they refused to give it back! HE WAS THEN FORCED TO CALL THE POLICE to get them to verify that it was in fact real. The whole ordeal took about an hour! The entire the staff was surly, unhelpful, rude, and biased. It is VERY hard for me to believe that all of this would have been initiated had he not been a tall, Black man. I have never experienced a situation like this before and I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN. She joked with us, got our kids stickers to stay occupied, and explained the processes and expedite options clearly. I already have prejudice against USPS since they have lost the $2000 worth of clothing I have ordered and no one could give me any straight answers. This just reaffirmed it. This location is absolute worst besides their Central District one. Not only did they NOT deliver a package to my building (didn't leave it in the lobby, like they were supposed to), but also didn't bother to redeliver it when I scheduled a redelivery the very next day. Furthermore, they gave me a slip to go to their SODO location to pick my package up. I called 5 times to make sure that they had it there. No one picked up. Got there, and the fat heffer behind the counter told me they wouldn't have it because my zip is downtown and they just borrowed the truck of their downtown branch. Didn't even bother to lift her fat finger off the office table to check the database on the computer if their location had it or not. So I get back downtown, and they don't have it either. Downtown branch did amazing and made a bunch of calls to see where the package was. Turns out it was at the SODO location to begin with. I did not have time to go back there AGAIN, because I had to go to work, but they said they will get it to the downtown location. I guess we will see if they bother to send it at all. Case and point, try to avoid this location like a plague. The employees there are absolutely fucking useless and will do zero to nothing to help you. They would rather sit on their fat ass and look at YouTube videos. Seems like the customers have to do their job for them. read more

came in today to pick up my package because my tracking said it was being held there, I called prior before picking up to make sure it was there the lady on the phone said I have to go there and pick it up and show ID, I arrived at the post office and this lady working at the front I didn't catch her name, but she is older and had curly hair was so rude about it I simply told her I was there to pick up my package because it was being on hold she told me it was being on hold because someone said I was on vacation, CLEARLY I WASN'T ON VACATION and kept asking me questions when clearly my name on the ID matched and the address, she made it more difficult then it needed to be and she could have had a better attitude. read more

Nope. I've been here a few times now, first time was helped by a very nice lady. Everything was fine. However, the last several times I have been here I have been served by the same middle aged man, around noon, and he has upset me every time. I had actually forgotten all about him until I walked in today, and there he was! And sure enough he waited on me again, well hardly, he denied the box I was shipping in within seconds. I had spent a lot of time blacking out the writing on the box, but he turned it around and upside down he found something he didn't like and immediately pushed it back toward saying it was unacceptable and said next. I walked away, and then asked him what if I just black it out a little better? He curtly said, no. It was unacceptable and that was it. Now I understand that the post office has policies, but he offered me no options or solutions and was rude. If this had been the first time I would have chalked it up to someone having a bad day, but it was the same last time. I was mailing a package and the label I was using had ripped, so I asked if I could have a piece of the scotch tape sitting by his elbow that he had just used to stick it back down. Unfortunately, again that would be violating policy. He told me I would have to buy the $4 packing tape by the register in order to stick my label back on! Otherwise I could come back another time! Well, I bought it as I needed to send it and didn't want to waste anymore of my time... Nice upsell mister cashier man. Now, you have to understand I have always had an affinity for the post office and the postal service, everyone has always been extremely friendly, in fact my dad was a mailman for 30 years! I would have thought with their current struggling business and with competitors like UPS and FedEx they would want to be kind and helpful to the customers they still have. In the end, this is more a personal review of the male cashier who has been rude to me on multiple occasions than everyone at this location, but in the end it is enough for me to say farewell. There is a very nice private mail store by my house, who is quite a bit pricier, but I have always left with a smile on my face. read more

Then, they left a slip to tell me to go here to pick up my stuff. Alright, it took my 40 minutes to go. At here, they didn't have any sign to let outside people know where to pickup stuff. I took like 15 minutes surfing around, went to the postal office, but the servicer told me to go to the next building. Okay. Then I had to look around to know where to go but there isn't any sign for walk-in people. A guy told me to go on a ramp to go to the mail receive station. Are you fking kidding me? Walking on a two traffic ramp?? Okay. I used my last patience to give a chance. Finally, the officers told me I got the wrong slip for the place!!!! It's supposed to be the postal office NEXT TO MY HOME! I JUST WASTED TWO HOURS DOING NOTHING BUT MAKING MONEY FOR SEATTLE BUS SERVICE. Seriously USPS? You aren't supposed to give people the wrong slip. I couldn't call the place in advance because it's always noone answers and when I call the right station, the call was directed to this postal office. Good service USPS. This place is staffed by morons. After a move from out of state I rented a PO box at this location and put in a forwarding order to this box from my old address. The rental process was easy. I reserved & paid online and then went in to show ID and collect my keys. It was a snap. The problem is that for the next two weeks I received no mail...at all. Zero. Zilch...not even the two test pieces of mail that I sent myself from in town. None of it. When I went back in to speak to the postal workers and figure out what was happening, I was told that they had never actually "opened" my box (whatever that means). Despite the fact that I paid upfront, was issued keys to the box, and given an address, that apparently didn't mean I could actually receive mail. The most frustrating part is that the manager couldn't even tell me what happened to the mail that was already sent to that address (either via forwarding or the numerous accounts that I manually changed the address). ...As in...couldn't tell me what the policy or normal procedure would be! I asked if the mail would be returned to the sender and marked as undeliverable or "not at this address." He didn't know. I asked if the mail might be "back there somewhere" in a box for unknown recipients. He didn't know. I asked if mail like that would be destroyed. He didn't know. So I'm left with: a) unpaid bills, possibly resulting in strikes on my credit report, because I can't get my bills b) PAYCHECKS and my NEW DRIVER LICENSE being lost in the mail and c) zero help or answers from the USPS. I would avoid this place like the plague unless you just need to drop off a letter. read more

The people staffed here are incredibly rude and incompetent. I've been back and forth more than 10 tens times trying to get my new apartment added into their system, and the response I get is almost always "we can't help you now, but come back later" or "we'll call you" (which they never do). The only way to get your mail when something goes wrong is to show up early in the morning every day and get in their faces until someone gets off their lazy ass and actually does something. If your zip code is being serviced by this location, good fucking luck. You're going to need it. read more

After waiting in line for about 15 minutes at the post office, and listening to one of the two people working the front argue with a mother and her daughter about getting a passport, I was finally up... only to find out I was in the wrong place and needed to go to the annex next door to pick up my mail that couldn't be delivered to my office mailbox because it was apparently full. I was already at this annex before the post office but couldn't figure out where the hell to pick up the mail because if you're walking and don't have a car you have to walk up a parking garage ramp to get to the place which isn't labeled all that well. I had to ask two people where / how to get there. One of which finally walked me to the place. I was following him into this warehouse looking large room... because he told me to follow him, when an african-american man, bald with glasses, said "whoa, whoa, whoa... I need you to back up about 15 feet and THEN I can help you." Apparently I had walked too far into the secret land of mail. I handed him my slip of paper that told me to come here and pick up my mail and he went and checked for it. He came back empty handed and told me there was no mail here for me to pick up. He didn't offer any advice on how to find the mail or who I could contact to figure out where I could pick it up. Called back to my office to see if the mail had been delivered for the day and it wasn't so I went back in to the secret land of mail where I was greeted by a different women who I also had check for my mail and she couldn't find. At least this time she gave me some suggestions on how to get the mail. She was the only bright spot of my visit to this hellacious mail palace. Alas, I left with no mail and not being sure where the mail was or how exactly I could get it. PS... As John P. states in his review, I wouldn't go here to get a passport. The lady working was very short with the mother and daughter trying to get one. The daughter didn't have a drivers license and they were trying to explain to her that you don't need one to get a passport (you can use other forms of identification) but she wasn't having it. If you can go to a different post office I would recommend doing so. read more

Hats off to Lori at this post office who took the time to call me about a purse that had been stolen 6 months earlier in Capitol Hill. The $3 from the purse was missing but everything else was in perfect condition. The Capitol Hill PO where the purse was apparently dumped NEVER BOTHERED to look through the purse to contact me that it had been found. The 4th Ave South location ended up with a lost and found box when the the Capitol Hill branch had to move.
