I had to get about 60 lbs of my grandmother's china from Seattle to central New York. I chose Mailbox Seattle to do this for me, and they did a great job. It was definitely not cheap, but it was worth it, and all the pieces arrived safely and very well packed. I broke down the receipt, and found that 62% of the cost went to the actual FedEx shipping cost (including extra insurance), 23% to labor, and 15% to supplies. I don't know if that's good or bad, but the breakdown might be useful to others. I just want to go on record that they did a great job in getting the china to me safely. I hope I don't have to ship anything like that again, but if I do, I'll be looking for help from Mailbox Seattle. read more

I love this place. I've used them on several occasions over the last few years and every time their customer service is excellent--they treat me as if I was a friend coming over for a visit. Typically I pack my own packages but with the crunch of the holidays, I didn't have time to find a box, buy tape, etc. So today I asked them to do it--so fast, so easy, and very affordable. I've been renting a box from this company for a year and a half (since I moved to Seattle). I've used private mailbox companies for, like, 25 years in Chicago and then San Diego before moving to Seattle. In a nutshell, this company, under the leadership of Margaret, is absolutely the best one I've ever used. I love the staff and Margaret ALWAYS remembers me, even if I haven't seen her personally in months and she is so sweet and nice, what costumer service SHOULD be! They text me every time I receive a package (I'm sure other companies do this now but no previous company I used did. I recently needed to sent some stuff, everything seemed to be ok, people there was very helpful, (it was my first time sending boxes) I sent two boxes which needed to be Delivered together, on a specific date because the person picking the up was going to take them somewhere else (traveling out of state with the boxes) Unfortunately, the person that helped me out didn't get the address correctly, he didn't write the specific number to the mail box where I was supposed to be delivered, after I asked if he was 100% sure that I was not needed ( he told me it was ok not to write it). Long story short, my boxes arrived separately, on different days, the person that was supposed to pick them up couldn't pick them together, it had to pay extra because the address didn't have the box number (for each box), someone else has to pick the other box and send it to the person that was going to pick them up originally. (Also pay for that) So my experience was not pleasant at all, and it ended up being more expensive than it was supposed to be. read more

She's so friendly and always willing to help with different packing options. Writing a review of a shipping center doesn't seem like a super sexy one to do, but I was just there this morning to send off a package and was so happy that there wasn't a long line that usually haunts these types of businesses this time of year. The owner was so sweet and put holiday packaging tape all over my box for me to reinforce the packaging and also because it's the holidays! My experience definitely started this Monday off on the right foot. These folks charge $3 per box for UPS drop-off. Ridiculous. I'd give them one star, except the gentleman proprietor was kind enough to hold the door for me as I staggered in under 30 lbs of packages. I was freaking out, trying to find a way to get some items shipped to Seattle for some colleagues who will be in town for a conference. I called their office and talked to a guy about my situation. He was extremely informative and helpful! The Will Call service that I was looking for is affordable, and I feel like my packages will be in the right hands until my colleagues can go and pick them up. Watch the tax rate you are charged. I was told the tax wAs more than it is for Seattle so I told the young man I'd come back when Margaret who I think owns the place was there. I had been paying $3 for small and 4$ for large as a will call package fee as I had shipments sent there for years no problems...was never charged tax and paid cash. I go back and tell Margaret I was asked to pay more than the ten percent tax rate. She angrily said they don't program the machine. She gets snappy and yells she's been paying tax for me. I said I'm happy to pay the real rate but not inflated which is illegal. I'm not sure will call service counts for tax but never brought that up. (Services are not taxed in WA) she told me I wasn't welcome anymore...BTW the contract USPS on 5th near Wall St. is only $2 any size for will call! (The owner called me discourteous in a google review so the following is my update.) UPDATE all I did was say to the clerk I would come back as I suspected the tax rate was off and I hadn't been charged tax for years. I was never rude nor did I raise my voice. When I came back he was there as was Margaret and I told him I had verified it should be 10% and he said that was what he thought the rate was too. That's when Margaret lost her cool and vindictively cut me off. One interesting fact was I had to tell her one package was coming already but then I would send no more and when I paid she handed me a receipt for the first time ever and lo and behold it was 10% tax..this whole situation was sketch but it was the only time she acted strangely...usually was super friendly and pleasant. It is libel to say I wasn't courteous and is frankly projection. Watch out it's a litigious milieu ( A business that charges its customers too much sales tax could be opening itself up to a class-action lawsuit.) Karma's a bitch! You got caught and acted out is what happened plain and simple! --your nervous nature gave you away. I just checked with WA dept. of Revenue and your will call package receiving/storage service is not a taxable item so since you say you paid tax on my items you can get that back from them but we both know you did no such thing..shame on you Margaret. Show proof you paid tax on years of fees that were never to be charged tax and I will amend this review. read more

With that out of the way I can say that the new lady is awesome! and she rocks~ I think she should wear cape with the monograms "SF" because she is Super Friendly. I needed to mail some frozen food (empanadas) to Colorado so I came in and asked about how to do that. she explained the whole shabang and how I should use a styrofoam cooler inside a box and use a freezer gel pack instead of dry ice, because of air shipment restrictions and the fees that I would incurred had I used dry ice (extra $8!) I'm happy to say that the food arrived on time and thanks to the 1,000 "FRAGILE" stickers that she put on, intact! Way to go!!! read more
