Nice little hidden gem near Pike Place Market. This came recommended on some YouTube video I saw before my trip to Seattle. This little shop has everything from stationary to cards to Seattle merch for the tourist like me! They also have a printing service located toward the back of the store. Upon walking in, I was immediately greeted as I headed towards the stationary. I ended up purchasing a Seattle themed tote, pens, & stickers. Prices were unfortunately on the high end, but that's what's to be expected in that area. Would love to come back on my next trip to Seattle!

Being the designer that I am... my eyes are always wondering and searching for typography and signages and saw their sign when we were walking down to the waterfront. I was hesitant in going since they didn't look very welcoming on the outside... seriously, the place was so hidden and not quite sure how they'd react to a tourist but I braved the dilemma in my head... walked in... no one was there besides the staff. Instinct wise, I wanted to take pictures but I respected their privacy since it does involve "design". I ended up getting a Space Needle card and a cute and of course orange "live inspired" notebook. Prices were a bit steep but that's normal in the printing / paper making industry. Thus... if you're a designer and or into art... well worth checking them out. Their art is phenomenal!

Pike St. Press is a shop at the bottom of the Pike Street Hillclimb that sells letterpress cards and stationery. Some of the card designs are made in-house as you can see a printing area in the back here. If you are looking for an alternative to the usual American Greetings and Hallmark cards, Pike St. Press is one of the places to check out. They have greeting cards for numerous occasions including baby, thank you and wedding cards. I noticed some of the designs were made by card markers in LA and Portland. The cards here are similar to what you would find at Paper Source in Bellevue. I visited the shop looking for a baby card. The selection was okay, not great. Some of the cards seemed too plain for my tastes. The cards are a bit pricey too. $6 for a card is a bit high. But considering that these cards are made in limited batches, it is understandable. And if you are willing to overlook some imperfections, they do have a box full of irregular cards sold at a discount here. If you are looking for a special occasion card that stands out from the mainstream fare, check out Pike St. Press to see if they have what you are looking for.

Super cute little place with a lot of cute cards and a Seattle must visit! We stopped in looking for some stickers to take home with us and so glad we stopped in. Had some cute shirts as well. Looked like they did custom work to. The people were really nice too.

    Bought this really cool card!

I loved this place, all the unique handcrafted high quality cards are made here and I bought them both as souvenirs for myself and to send to others. Don't miss this place! It faces the waterfront and is not in the main pike market shops. But definitely worth seeking out.

And I supported it wholeheartedly despite sometimes finding items slightly cheaper elsewhere. Additionally, as an art educator I always suggested it to my students for their value, as well as excellent and knowledgeable customer service. Unfortunately, I'm very disappointed to say both superb customer service and cost value are gone. Firstly, I learned from my students that student discount was no longer available. Then after my last visit, I was stunned how much the prices have increased. Still, I remained a dedicated patron. After coming home I realized one of the expensive wooden panels had a substantial gouge in the corner - simply too noticeable to try fixing. I confidently returned to the store but was told they would not take back the damaged items - because they couldn't verify it was damaged before my purchase. The associate was unbearably rude and dismissive. One my way out I expressed my profound disappointment with the current direction of this trusted business with another associate, only to have the associate I originally spoke with catch up with us. Now they changed their song, saying they could accept the damage item but I was very lucky because it's not something they always do. What?! The associate appeared to be making up policies as they went along. In the end I kept the damaged wooden panel, as I will keeping my business away from this place.

This unique, engaging, and enjoyable event was hosted by Jennifer, Yelp Eastside CM from Issaquah. Our VYEE instructor was Kellie, the enthusiastic and passionate owner of The Works in Seattle (2/11/21). I signed up thinking ahead for something fun to look forward to. After my recent past two weeks, this event was so welcomed! I'm always curious how artists and craftspeople create unique items and are able to establish a vibrant indie business too. I've taken other similar classes that allows for creativity and a timeout from the day-to-day. The vibe that Jennifer and Kellie created during this hour session, and seeing others with their custom, handmade bath bombs...this was a much needed and appreciated this evening. I ordered my kit on 2/8/21 intended to pick it up in person. And of course, life interfered. But the folks at The Works worked their magic, kindly got it in the mail, and I received it day of the event. Lovely packaging. Makes a great gift! Techniques are freely shared and allowed for further creativity with additional tips from Kellie and other Yelp Elites participating. I listened intently, took copious notes, and took screenshots. Inside the Bath Bombs Kit are all the items needed, including an instruction booklet, and video link to watch later for reference. Other items needed and not included are a mixing bowl, fork, 1 Tablespoon measuring spoon, and up to 3T water. After giving this process a whirl, (makes about 4 bath bombs from the kit) the choices and combos one can continue to create are infinite! Add in some creativity, you'll learn a really top notch skill, promote self care, and can give as gifts. Art meets science! Gifts guaranteed to be well received, not become a regifted white elephant, and you don't have to dust it, lol.
