She offers personalized printing with a method that originated in the early 1800s. She offers business card, note words, wedding invitations etc. What I came for was the class she offers which are popular as wedding gifts. She showed me how to create my own card from a picture I carved out of a linoleum block. I didn't have experience carving, nor any artistic talent, but she guided me and it turned out beautiful. She also helped me mix an ink into a beautiful turquoise color. We have just come back a second time and she is helping my boyfriend create his own customized business card. It's a great place to shop at for any book lover. Located in the Seattle Central Library branch on the main level, the shop is not large, but the selection is quality. First off, there are always so many treasured books that are discounted, like four bucks for a vintage hardcover of a literary classic or two bucks for paperback best seller! You cannot walk into this library branch and miss out on the book deals here. Selection always changes, too, so it's worth coming back on a frequent basis. In addition to a wonderful selection of discounted books, there are also library-themed items, including Seattle Public Library goods, like totes, prints, Christmas ornaments, etc. The gifts you can find for book lovers here are plenty! From stickers, to journals, to even a set where someone can build their own library, with old school library slips to place in books for checking out and so on. It's pretty darn cool. Friends of Seattle Public Library volunteers that work here check in with customers, offering assistance and so forth. If you visit on the first Thursday of the month, items are discounted. As someone who carries multiple journals and uses them daily, Iona is a treat. You can smell the leather reclaimed from various other industries when you step into her shop. There are dozens of neatly rolled sheets awaiting the next journal. The shop is there for bookmaking, and you can see the care and craft that goes into each journal. Take your time to examine the books and the reclaimed hinges and fastenings. Each book is unique, and you have an heirloom piece when you leave the shop. Mychal provides three different types of paper. As a long-time fountain pen writer, I look for ghosting, smearing, and bleed-through. None of these were evident with my fountain pen. For the pen geeks, it is a Visconti Van Gogh fine point tip and Noodlers' red ink. Treat yourself to a journal for your thoughts, expressions, and memories. The Japanese block print exhibit is really what we were there for and I am still in awe of the work the artists produced so long ago and the colours that have lasted the teat of time. Totally worth it of you visit with the City Pass discount coupon Seattle has for visitors. The cost is 30% less! The staff were kind and helpful as you get to the inner areas it is easy to get turned around.

Prices were over $20 a ticket which in the real world would have been a little steep for me, but I do believe they work on a donation basis. There are 3 floors. Included in the membership we were granted access to the special exhibit. My husband and I enjoyed walking around and looking at the various exhibits. Mostly modern but they did have some great antiquities.. As well as a large installment of African American artistry. I'm not one to remember names or genres. I just enjoy seeing life from the perspective of artists through their art. And the SAM gives a wide variety. Being from Los Angeles we are kind of spoiled in the museum world and although we did enjoy the museum very much, and it's certainly worth visiting, there are better museums with much grander collections that I've seen.
