Weekends are busy and there's generally a wait. However, I opted to paint outside and got seated right away. They have a great selection of items to paint. I picked two jars. They have a variety of supplies that allowed me to bring my vision to life! The number of colors they have to select from is vast too. They have a wide range of brushes and tools, and I appreciated their two sizes of paint pen detail bottles--perfect for writing! Nicky was so helpful and accommodating. He reviewed how the pair a work and the process thoroughly but succinctly. He brought my chosen pieces out to the table since I had my dog with me. It is dog friendly outside! Not sure about inside. My friend and I had a wonderful experience. The staff offered us guidance and also (respectfully) gave space when we told them we had the supplies we needed. I was able to really take my time with my project. I was even allowed to go back two days later to apply touch-ups (after perseverating about a detail I missed). They have a great selection of pottery and glazes and a great set-up. The people complaining about needing a reservation... come on! It is an intimate space and the staff do a wonderful job communicating this and maintaining the best atmosphere for the artists in-house. No complaints on my end, but there might have been some luck for us on this visit. It definitely was not the best time to visit, since it was the day before Thanksgiving. I'd highly recommend going there when it opens to avoid waiting long. We went around 11 and we were told that the wait time would be 1-1.5 hours, which is pretty long. We were told that we'd get a call or text when our slot was ready and that we'd have 10 minutes to get to the store. We shopped around uvill for a little less than 30 minutes when we got a call that we could actually go earlier than expected (very lucky). It was a little hectic with how many people were in there so it was a little hard to get the employees attention at times. You only pay for the pottery pieces so it's relatively cheap. We had 2 hours to paint, which is probably more than enough time for the average painter. However, I was a bit ambitious and was painting up until the last second. If you come at an off time or come right when it opens, I'd highly recommend this place based off the pottery prices. read more

After calling around different painting ceramics studios in seattle,Redmond and Bellevue this owner is rude and unsympathetic towards poor people, unbanked people or children under 18 who can't get credit or debit cards. The owners policy is to not accept cash at all in her store. I had a phone conversation with the owners about people who have no choice but to pay in cash. The owner said if somebody is struggling financially they don't belong in my pottery studio if they can't get a credit card or debit card. This is elitism at its finest and unnaceptible!! The owner did say if I bring in a group of disabled adults to her store to paint that if I give her advanced notice and everyone in the group brought in exact change ahead of time she would make an exception. When I spoke to the owner that some people use check cashing places she didn't know what that was. There is a painting studio in edmonds,Washington and at crossroads Bellevue which both accept cash with no attitude. Here in the seattle city limits there is a proposed ordinance that would make cashless businesses illegal if passed!! The violations of the ordinance for businesses would be $15,000 for the 1st violation. Our city seattle is becoming a city of haves and have nots!! If you don't mind paying by credit card or debit card please show this businesses that their no cash acceptance policy is wrong and unacceptable!! Here in seattle we have tons of disadvantaged and disabled folks who struggle. In edmonds,Lynnwood and Bellevue cash is accepted widely. The city of seattle shouldn't force or make kids under 18, disabled people, people of color or people who can't and don't use credit or debit cards unable to spend their us cash currency here and have to travel to Lynnwood,Bellevue or edmonds to do so. They have all the tools you need, either your a meticulous artist designing a space mushroom or free handed brute that like pretty colors but ends up painting a shot glass blue (me) this place is set up for anyone. Nice people but the "black" paint was actually white. Some others were mislabeled too, like the "green" that was actually muddy brown.

My friends and I came here the Saturday before Christmas. We didn't think it would be that busy if we went first thing in the morning - we were wrong. Apparently, they changed their procedures for what people are to do when they arrive for a paint session. One of my friends, who is an avid ceramic painter and who had painted there before, didn't realize that she had to check in with the staff. She sat there and prepped her work only to be later asked to move due to the back table being reserved for a birthday party. By that time, all the main tables in the front area was already taken. The only table left for our party of 3 was outside. Ideally, the outside wasn't ideal for our party of 3 to have sufficient room for paint and our ceramic. Plus, it was pouring rain! So we were told we can be put on a waitlist for a table inside. About an hour or so later, we were texted that a table had opened up for us. So we headed back and began picking out our ceramics to paint. We prepped our ceramics and grabbed our own paints and tools. With it being the week before Christmas, lots of kids and their families came to paint, so there was a lot of people coming in and out to be put on a waitlist for a table. Once we finished our paintings, we checked out and were told that our item could be finished before Christmas, if we wanted it expedited. I thought that was a nice option for those who painted their ceramics for gifts. Since mine wasn't a gift, I opted out of getting it before Christmas. But to my surprise, I got a call the day before Christmas Eve that my ceramic was ready to be picked up! So since I had the day off on Christmas Eve, I went to go pick up my jar. And it came out looking beautiful! It was so much fun painting here with my friends and I'm sure we'll be back again to paint more. read more

I've visited this place so many times and it's always just as fun! It's also a great rainy day activity! I love the concept of it - you get to choose an object to paint and pick it up one week later after it's been burned. There are so many different objects to choose from - I've done a mug, plate, fox, and a cookie jar!! It's also pretty affordable - my plate was $22 and it includes the cost of the paints! There's usually at least an hour wait so I'd recommend first coming to add your name to the waitlist and then walking around the village. I loved the concept and decided to come here with friends as fun girl's day activity. However, there are some issues that need to be addressed concerning time management and reservations on busier days. They only accept reservations for big parties, (we were a party of 4), we ended up waiting 4 hours. We were told our table would be ready in a few minutes and then were never told that our table was ready (we ended up waiting 20 more minutes on top of the 4 hours because of that). When we finally were able to begin we were told we only had 35min to paint. It would be great on busier days that everyone is given a time limit (ex. Like 90min) so everyone can have a fair time painting instead of some people being there for 2+ hours while customers on the wait list have to wait way longer. We also came back the next day to finish, and we still had to wait 2 hours. I understand if it's busy there will be a wait however people who come to finish what they've already started should be given priority or create a system where customers aren't waiting so long and then proceed to have a very small amount of time when they actually do begin. My friends have come multiple times before but after these last two times we are very hesitant with how their current system is now and it's not worth the wait for us. read more

We walked in Sunday afternoon and the wait was about 45 min for 3 people. There were plenty of workers and they were super helpful whether you wanted to ask about the process or need help finding anything. The place can get a little crowded though. There is a great selection of pieces you can paint (prices are based on which piece you pick) and some are really cute! I was really tempted to get the whale box but needed a new mug so I got a mason jar with a handle. The lantern of stars also looked like it would be great for putting candles in! The paint selection is also really pretty and they come with these needle tip pens which are a game-changer for adding details. There is also a sketch pencil you can use to plan our your design and the pencil marks all burn off in the kiln. We did not really have a time limit (except for closing time) so we could take our time painting and chatting and it was really fun. We went during midwinter break, which wasn't the best idea. We checked in around 2:45 they said it was an hour and a half wait. I thought it was doable with my 6-year-old, so we waited at Mr. West. I made my back over around 4:30 to ask how much longer. The person behind the desk said probably another hour...I was shocked. I wondered how many people were ahead of us, and she said four. I convinced my 6-year-old we should take home and paint for $58, which was fine. Before checking out, I asked how many people were in front of us, and this time, they said 6!!! I was baffled and noticeably annoyed. We stayed on the list because I was hoping they would call within the next 30 min, but they didn't. They ended up calling me at 5:20 pm, 2 hours later!!!! So, I wasted 1.5 hours of my time. We wouldn't have waited if I had just been told it would be over 2 hours. Note that you can call and put your name on the list, but you have to be there within 10 minutes of them calling. She said the wait could be less, so if you live or are further than 10 min away and they call, you'll miss your spot. All this to say, they don't take reservations for groups under 6. Why? I don't know. Second, there is no time limit for your "creativity" (as the person behind the desk told me), so the person putting tiny little dots with a paint pen on a plate could have been doing that for 4 hours with no movement while everyone waits their turn. While I understand that some people consider themselves the Picasso of pottery painting miniature animals, Paint the town would benefit from a reservation system and a limit to how long you can occupy a space. 1.5-2 hours seems like sufficient time to stretch your creativity. We made reservations and they insisted we only had to wait for 20 minutes and they told us we were second in line. 2 hours later we asked an update and they finally gave us a table. Seems like they forgot about us because they also didn't know our spot name. But since it was 30 minutes to close they kept giving us different instructions to get started. To make matters worse the blonde worker with glasses smirked at us and was not helpful at all. It seemed like her and the others were stalling to stop us from starting to paint so they could go home. We did not feel welcome at all and it seemed like since we were the only group there from a different background. We ended up leaving and when we looked back saw the staff laughing. I recently was able to be a host of one of the Paint the Town party event's here locally (well Dalton, GA). It was my first time hosting an event and was super last minute, however, we all had a blast! My party had 24 guest's and we all had a great time cutting up and being social while painting a beautiful painting that I am certain is hanging somewhere proudly in a room to be admired by them for many moon's to come! Nothing like celebrating a birthday painting ceramics and sipping wine. We recently celebrated a friend's birthday at Paint the Town. We reserved the back room which was perfect for our gathering and comfortably seated 10 people. Wine is allowed on the premises with a permit from liquor board. Don't forget to bring a copy to the front desk. We started by washing our hands prior to handling the unfinished ceramics to ensure dirt and oils are not transferred on the unglazed pieces. There are many project possibilities ranging from plates, figurines, keepsakes, bottles, and even piggy banks. They even displayed examples of finished products to help provide inspiration and ideas. The prices do vary and depend on the selected piece. I chose a Snoopy keepsake box which was $32.00. Everything we needed to paint the ceramics was provided. This included the brushes, paints, palettes, stencils, and masking tape. They even had aprons available for anyone afraid of spilling the paint on their clothes. Plan to spend anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. We found ourselves in complete zen listening to mainstream music while channeling our inner art class days from school. This a great activity for all ages especially if you are looking to pass the time. There is a 1 week period before you can pick up your finished ceramic. We were able to paint our birds at a table in the university village square right under the heaters. We had full access to the paints and paint pens in the store which was awesome. I wanted to make a special platter for Mother's Day but thought that something that would last forever would be out of my price range. I had nearly purchased a ceramic platter and acrylic paint online but I decided to check out prices at Paint the Town first. I was amazed to see that their prices were totally competitive and totally within the budget for a poor college student's date night. They have hundreds of unglazed ceramic pieces and dozens of colors of glaze you can choose from. Ceramics start around $5 for tiles and their biggest item (turkey sized platter) is $65. The price of the ceramic piece includes a clear coat of glaze and firing in their kiln. Glazes all cost $4 per color. In total, I spent $24 on my small platter with a single glaze. I opted to paint mine at home and they gave me a discount for doing so! Totally happy with the end result. It takes 7 days before you can pick up the final product, but knowing it is totally food safe makes the wait worth it. Excited for an excuse to make something else! read more

I love, love, love, love Paint the Town. And now that I am a resident of Seattle, I think I will probably come here on a regular basis. It's so...much...FUN! It's essentially Color Me Mine (for my fellow California folks). Everything is done pretty much the same way, although I found there to be more autonomy with the paints (you pick them out yourself and bring them to your table), as well as choices of how to apply the paint (brush vs. squeeze-tip applicators for fine print writing). The prices of the pottery pieces, as well as the painting time, is pretty comparable to Color Me Mine. But unlike at Color Me Mine, I never once felt rushed to get out of there. I went on a Sunday in the middle of the day (aka, family hour), and even though it was busy, I never felt like I was being watched to the finish line. My friend brought me here to "relive" some memories of pottery painting that we had in college together, and we had a blast! We were rocking out to the terribly bad 80s/90s music (Rick Astley was the BEST) while we painted: I did a garden gnome (Hank), and she did a bowl with Morrissey lyrics. It was a super relaxing experience, even with the screaming children in the background. I would definitely recommend this for parties or to come during the holidays.
