I did several projects with my kids here over the years and the pricing of items skyrocketed. I also know the owners talk smack about their high school aged employees who ask for time off to go scout colleges. My last cup there was touched by an employee before it got fired and came out with a white unpainted spot where they touched it. Pricing is no big deal, but read the previous reviews. The owners are very unprofessional and have never admitted to being in the wrong. Complaining about the poor job they did on my item would only add insult to injury when the owner responds on Yelp to deny she's done something wrong. Pick a spot where the owners don't jump on every complaint to blame the customer for it. And don't let your kids work here either. read more

We had high hopes for celebrating our daughter's birthday at Creatively Yours, but unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by a deeply disappointing and unprofessional situation. Two months before the event, my wife called and officially booked the date and time, confirmed the total price, and was told payment would be made on the day of the party. Everything was clearly agreed upon, and we trusted that the business would honor that agreement. However, on the day of the party, with guests and children already arriving, we were blindsided by a 2.5x price increase, justified by a vague explanation about a recent "policy change." Not only was this change never communicated to us beforehand, but it also completely disregarded our original booking. We tried to reason with the staff, but given the circumstances--kids excited and parents already present--we were left with no choice but to proceed under pressure. This behavior felt exploitative and incredibly unfair. A birthday party should be a joyful, stress-free experience, not one where you're forced into paying a massively increased fee last-minute in front of guests. As a customer, I expect businesses to honor their commitments and communicate any changes clearly before the day of the event. Sadly, Creatively Yours failed to do either. Updating this review on behalf of my son Jacob C. Jacob was very upset when he received his finished piece with a note saying, "too much paint, not safe for food." He had worked hard on it and was excited to give it as a gift to his mom, so the message left him feeling discouraged. It would have made a big difference if the staff had added a few words of encouragement or guidance--acknowledging the effort he put in and offering suggestions on how to improve next time. After all, he's just 11 years old, and this was a meaningful project for him. A more supportive approach would have helped turn this into a positive learning experience. read more

While my kid and friends were a bit loud in the party section, the rest of the studio remained peaceful and the other guests didn't seem to really notice my group. Creatively Yours's gift certificates expire after a year, despite the fact that this is illegal under Washington law - google RCW 19.240.030 or "Washington Attorney General can gift certificates expire" to check for yourself. I've pointed out the relevant statute to them, but they have neither changed their behavior, nor returned the money that they obtained from me by breaking the law. It may seem like a small thing, but I would urge you to not support a business that is knowingly and willfully breaking the law, both because their behavior is unethical, but also because if they are willing to openly break an unambiguous law, you can't expect reasonable behavior from them when you encounter other problems (as the large number of 1 star reviews here shows). Another nearby store, "Paint Away" offers excellent similar services, without engaging in illegal business practices. Definitely do not buy gift certificates from Creatively Yours. And if you end up with one, and they don't accept it, consider taking 5 minutes to file a complaint at the Washington State Attorney General's office. Enough such complaints will create a pattern that the Attorney General's office will investigate. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: The owners response is shockingly dishonest: (1) It is not true, as the owner claims, that this is about a "change in law that happened on 01/01/2023." Nor, as they claim, did they state that it was in their letter to the Attorney General (AG). The law banning gift card expiration was passed over 20 years ago. ( https://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2003-04/Pdf/Bills/Session%20Laws/House/3036.SL.pdf?cite=2004%20c%20168%20s%203 ) (2) It is technically true that I did not "e-mail" them before filing the complaint with the AG. I went physically to the store and showed a copy of the law to the associate there. Then a manager called and told me over the phone that there would be no change in store policy, even after I said that I would be filing a complaint with the AG. I'll let the reader judge whether saying "you never even tried to email us before placing the complaint" is the way an honest person would characterize this. (3) They have said that they will keep my money which they obtained by breaking the law. They did eventually say that they would accept the certificate it in the future if I showed their associate a letter that they sent me specifying that my specific gift card number could be used. You can decide whether "we'll keep your money that we got by our illegal practices, but shop here again, and we'll follow the law for you in the future if you show us a letter" is a solution you would find reasonable. (4) They claim that I continue to not be happy even after they "changed their practices to fit the law." Their Yelp response below is the absolute first time in any our exchanges that they have indicated that they were changing any of their policies, or were at fault in any way. Unless they believe me to be psychic, their statement that I was not happy even after these changes is extraordinarily dishonest. And in fact, their statement over e-mail that they would accept my specific gift card if I showed a copy of their letter to their associate, makes it impossible to believe that they were secretly making these changes. Why would they require me to show a letter to have my gift certificate honored? Wouldn't their workers just know to follow their new policy of following the law for everyone? I painted a piece here back in May and bought a second one that I didn't finish at the time. I was told at checkout that if I washed any prior the paint off, I would be able to return/exchange for a different piece. I came back in December because I don't live out here, I visit someone. I was quite rudely told they do not take returns, period. This piece I have is now completely paint-less and I no longer have a purpose for this bowl. A true neighborhood gem! I've been here a couple times in elementary/middle school and always had a great time, I visited tonight for the first time in over 10 years with a friend and had such a fun time. I didn't know the management changed but I did notice some new policies, which were all reasonable and laid out very clearly at the beginning by the associate. The photo for pickup rule makes perfect sense, I'm not sure why some are complaining about that - they clearly were not listening to the associate when they were explaining, which is not the store or associate's fault at all. Price-wise, there were many cute ceramic options in the $20-25 price range, which is a steal considering you're not charged based on time or paint usage. The associates were friendly, helpful, and made my group feel very welcomed. Towards the end, one of the associates made sure to let us know when we had an hour left to paint and 25 minutes left to paint prior to the store closing. A father seated near us started protesting at the 25 minute mark because he realized he was running out of time and started arguing with the associate, which was sad to see. It seems to me that if you want ample time to paint, you should come earlier instead of taking it out on the young associate who is just trying to get home after closing. I see that there are many rude parents and Karen's on this Yelp page... I am disheartened by the entitlement of some of these people, having seen it live. For example, if you paint on a piece, you obviously can't return it after? Or if your kid broke a ceramic, of course you should pay to replace it? These things should be obvious. Also news flash, we have been out of Covid lockdown for over 2 years so saying you had no opportunity to redeem your expired coupons and vouchers or whatever until now is ridiculous. A few years ago I bought a birthday party voucher at an auction and when I went to schedule it just now, they would not honor it or give me anything! I purchased this right before Covid and was finally ready to do this because things are finally normal again and the manager said it was expired. There was no expiration date on the voucher and letter that accompanied it (that was obviously created by them). To make matters worse, she was extremely rude and cut me off. The deal was that they would supply cupcakes, juice and balloons and we would still need to pay for each item that the 10-12 kids created (min. $130) so it's not like we wouldn't be spending any money. Came to this place on a whim! How fun! I liked how there was a variety of pottery templates to choose from! They charge by the item you choose you paint and not by the hour. We came in on a 2pm Sunday as walk-ins 3 people and there was 1 or 2 tables left. When we initially came in, they didn't give us any directions/customer service besides going to our table. We had to figure it out on our own, so it would've been nice to get an introduction to where things were inside the store. Also some of the potteries are high price $20 and up. Other than that, it's a great relaxing activity to do with family, friends or on a date! Once you pay, it takes 7 days for it to be ready for pick up! My daughter was gifted a $25 gift card for her birthday. This was before the pandemic, and I finally managed to take her now. I was told they cannot honor the gift card since the ownership has changed, and this is old and their gift cards expire 1 yr after issue date. Unfortunately, this is not written anywhere on the gift card, and I also have the receipt from my friend who gifted this. Instead of honoring it, right off the bat, the staff told me they cannot accept anything older. And I told them gift cards have no expiry AFAIK. And they said oh we tell the person who is buying it - its not written anywhere on there though. They could have honored it but instead they chose to send us away. Horrible customer service by Roni. He was at the front desk and was demeaning, Very rude and disrespectful. I would never come again. As I was explaining the circumstances of a toy that fell off the rack without me actually touching as it was on the edge and didn't make sense for me to be charged for it, he threatened to call security. What?? How is this acceptable? This was completely out of line. How does a business like this allow people like him to work here?? Very poor experience The owner came and was even more rude and condescending. I told her I will send my review about this poor experience, and she said I am threatening her. This place used to be our favorite but not anymore., very arrogant manager. They have a new policy that you need to show picture of your work at pick up.. If not you have to wait a month to pick up.. completely stupid policy. They should track by phone number or better take the picture. My daughter did her pottery with grandma and when she went to pick up, unfortunately the phone was reset. I only had picture of her painting (not the final product) which my mom sent when they were there.. I showed that picture which clearly shows their store name, the manager even said that's a big mug. I offered to show receipt, payment proof, asked them to check phone number used at the time of painting and also said her pottery had her name at the back. My daughter even found the mug she painted with her name on it and it matches the picture of her painting. The stupid store manager kept repeating 'it's store policy',, when I asked to speak to the manager to see if they can do anything as it was my kiddo's birthday gift.. he said "I am the manager" (with a smirk ) and proceeds to ignore my offer to show other proofs. He was down right rude and senseless.. if the point is to show proof.. there are more than one ways! Why follow policy without understanding the intent. The rudeness and insensitivity has done it for me. Update: now that you've explained the policy about the special-needs situation, i understand where you are coming from better. This was not explained to me clearly at the store, which led me to believe it was proof of purchase. All I was told was it was store policy multiple times , without any flexibility for specific situation. This came across as rude responses to me ( even if he was trained to say it) Honestly that is how I felt. I will also apologize if I misunderstood your intent. But i Would appreciate understanding unforeseen situations. From my perspective, there was no effort to understand a specific situation. I live far off and I have my own medical issues with several appointments, all this makes making a trip again hard for me. Making another trip is hard and not easy for many. Granted my situations are not your problem, and they are my problem. Simply listening to my concern and figuring out if there is an alternate option would've come across better. Again I can't help but feel that your response seem to have the same undertone. People lose phone, forget phone, reset phone etc., it is not uncommon, even though it's not YOUR problem, having some empathy and helping figure out a solution would help. The staff is very helpful - but they have a very specific way in which they have laid out their system. They have for you convenience all the glaze colors out on the table for you on each table ... every bottle. in the center of the table. surrounding a color chart. occupying space that you could be using to work on your project. which makes the space a bit cramped when your working on a say a LARGE plate or 2-large plates. What's interesting here is they ask you to put a base coat of glaze on the piece your working on. They say it helps the glaze they use adhere to the pottery better. This is different, as I've been told (at a number of the places I've been to) that if you want the piece to be white - just leave it white. The piece I was working on I wanted to be white - but they told me to paint it white. interesting. Anyway - I did as they suggested. I was also working on foot prints of my children - on the plate, which if I messed up - I would have to wash the whole plate off and start over - which they were very happy to assist with if you did. I was very lucky I got my children to make their foot prints pretty cleanly the first time on the plate ... however because they told me I had to paint the base first - the foot prints I did were going to come out with a lot of transparency (meaning the background color was going to come through the footprint) ... so I had to go in and really touch up and put on a thick coat of color over my kiddo's footprints so they would come out - it's still their footprint shape - but I lost that 'real' effect of the print details because I had to paint it so the background wouldn't bleed through. Anyway ... it was different technique I wasn't really excited about and I'm pretty sure my irritation at the process and need to do this came across as the helpers came over and told me, 'You're going to need to put more paint on it so the background doesn't come through' ... er-um, yeah - I'm aware. I didn't want to paint the background for that very reason in the first place. This isn't my first rodeo ... but anyway. I guess I take my pottery painting a bit too seriously ... but not as seriously as the guy who came in with his own attache case of brushes. Nevertheless, the folks seemed very helpful - they had a great little kiddo paint party - which they were very good a leading .. it just had some awkward flow as the party table was smack dab at the front of the shop and all the little party go'ers were blocking the exit to check out. It's not like we were in a hurry or anything to get out with the diaper bag so we could get it to my spouse who needed to change our daughter ... most places I've been to place the party tables at the back of the area so the noise and traffic doesn't interfere with the rest of the business. Just saying. All in all - sweet place. Help great - sorry to be so snappy, just not use to the technique and the vision I had of the pieces I was working on required additional steps that I wasn't counting on during a limited window with two toddlers. it was also a bit awkward when my daughter tried to dip her hand in the pretty jar of colorful glass shards ... had to move that up a few shelves a long with a few other items that could have been interesting if we hadn't been on the ball watching them. Note to families with toddlers - never turn your back on them in this place ... I'm sure the folks here have seen it all ... but it kind of freaked me out when my daughter tried to grab the glass ... I know where she was going with it ... straight for her mouth if she got a hold of it ... looked just like candy! eek! I like to organize different festive activities to kick off the holiday season and decided this was the year to try Creatively Yours. Booked a Salsa Party and it was a hit! Bekka, Robb and their crew were great hosts. They got us situated, explained how and what to do and let our creativity run. No one other than myself had ever experienced this kind of activity before. Everyone had so much fun and begged that we make this a holiday tradition. Please note, that our "painters" got very quiet in creative concentration! IT WAS FUN. They have plenty of space to sit and enjoy your time, and space for either wheelchair users or strollers to sit at the tables as well. They have a large variety of colors and brushes and other objects to choose from to create your masterpiece. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable on ceramics painting and glazing and aided us wonderfully with our project. If there was a ten star option, you better believe that's what they deserve. I've been going to this studio almost weekly for the past year now and have never once had an unhappy visit!! Please keep in mind when looking at other reviews: they have switched owners in the last couple of years! So I feel like some of the older reviews may not be applicable anymore. If you don't have time to read my whole review, summary is that they have good paints (more than most), good quality paint brushes, accommodating and knowledgable staff, and a roomier than most painting area. For paint and Bisque options, the possibilities are endless. They leave a recommended variety of paints at the table (roughly 20 bottles) with swatches of what they would look like after firing. Their brushes are good quality (before they had the kind where the bristles would come out onto your piece while painting) and are cleaned regularly. They have an additional area to the side near the front desk with, you guessed it, even more amazing paints. Sparkle, crackle, nature tones, everything an artist could dream of. Next to that they then have tiles displaying different techniques you could use (bubble, scraffito, transfer paper, contact paper, etc.) which was really nice when I first started out since the whole ordeal can be a bit intimidating at first. And if you're absolutely unhappy with the bisque options they have (a situation I have yet to run into in throughout my year there) they have a booklet of other options they can special order for you. This option may take anywhere from a week to over a month so make sure to ask. As for service, All staff are extremely friendly and helpful, but also leave you to get into the zone of painting. A perfect combination of attentiveness and privacy. I cannot express how many pieces of mine were saved by their crafty solutions for my seemingly unsolvable mistakes. Any problem or question you may have, and they'll have a solution like pulling a rabbit out of a magicians hat. I'll usually spend anywhere from 2-6 hours here at a time and they have always been kind about me camping for so long. Spending so much time here has also allowed me to witness multiple kids birthday parties and group paintings. The staff is extremely patient with all ages of kids, does cute little hand or foot prints for them as well, and works with you and your child to teach them how to paint ceramics safely and respectfully. Last but not least, the space. I've been to various ceramic studios for painting and no other one has been as roomy as this one. With an open floor and a separate section for parties, it doesn't make you feel cramped while working and lowers the chance of overcrowding and people bumping into your table right when you're trying to get that fine line done. Tables are big enough to comfortable fit four people, not much more once you have all your pieces down but that's what the tables off to the side for parties are for. We have been coming here for about 10 years. It's one of our Christmas traditions to paint gifts for the family. We also come throughout the year as my daughter absolutely loves it here. We've had wonderful experiences until now. I get that times are different and so I appreciate the fact that they are doing To Go Kits. When my daughter, nephew and I went to pick up one of these kits we were given the strangest colors. I had to be very assertive and practically beg to get more of a particular color and when asked if we could substitute colors we were told no. I just felt that was odd that we weren't able to pick out colors ourselves. Also. I thought it was strange I had to ask them to wrap the pieces in tissue. Then when I went to pick up my pottery I didn't have a photo and was given much grief. I do realize that's their new policy l; however my sister-in-law dropped off the pieces and is currently on a plane and couldn't send a photo. I don't live in the area so it was very frustrating feeling like my kids' pieces were "being held hostage" even though I could describe them to a T. I shared my frustration with the salesperson and kept getting the same response "Well in times like these this is how we do things". Well I know for a fact they are not doing things like this in times like these right now at other Paint your own Pottery places. I let him know that I would not come back as I was familiar with other places who did not have the same policies and were more than generous to provide different colors. Boyfriend took me here for my birthday since I love painting pottery and I hadn't been since moving down from Bellingham and I was supremely underwhelmed by the experience. They didn't explain the process well and talked down to us on a few occasions. They don't have a process to clean off the pottery beforehand so I ended up making the mistake of painting a bunch of dust into my mug. Well I went in to pick up our pottery today and I am so disappointed with how it turned out. I drew a face on top of a white painted background and some of the black smeared leaving streaks on the white. The inside of my mug has bubbles and aforementioned dust since I couldn't get it all out. When I mentioned the streaks to the people who were ringing me out I got 0 apology and only a "oh it does that when we put the glaze on." I'm no newbie to painting pottery and have never had paint smudge on my piece before. I spent hours meticulously making sure lines were the same width and surfaces were smooth and painted evenly and they handled my piece carelessly. An experienced shop shouldn't make mistakes like this and if this is so common with the glaze it should have been mentioned beforehand. I'm going back to Bellingham to paint the same design at my usual shop as I was severely disappointed with how my piece turned out and the non-existent customer service. We came here for a birthday party and the kids loved it. There's a good selection of figurines, cups, plates, etc to choose from. It's very spacious so they can accommodate many groups at the same time. We were surprised that our creation wouldn't be ready for another 5 days but the host of the party was able to pick it up for us. -Good selection of pieces to choose from. I was looking for a cat, and they had more than one kind. The prices are pretty reasonable considering there is not an extra charge for glaze, and you can spend as much time as you'd like working on your piece. You can even come back later to finish if you run out of time. -There is lots of table space. It's set up communal style; several long tables in the room. We had a group of 8 people. -They do not take general reservations for tables, but it was nearly empty when we came in on Friday night. There is also a special of 20% off Fridays from 6pm-9pm. -Each piece needs 3 coats of glaze. The glaze needs to dry between coats. The glaze dries pretty quickly so it's not a problem, but there is a hair dryer available as well. -Pieces are ready in 5 days and are held for 1 month. read more

A lot of products to paint, not cheap but worth it. The staff at night were much friendlier than when I went to pick up the fired pieces. Make sure you overlap all the paint or white areas will show up a little once fired. Really easy to paint, mix colours, staff are mostly helpful. Make sure you really clearly initial or write your surname on the underside of your piece. read more
