We called ahead on a Friday to see what the availability is and it's only walk-in so we went after work. The staff was friendly and helped us understand the process of picking out a piece and painting it. There are also instructions on the wall on the steps you need to take to decorate your piece and there are labels everywhere to make sure you know what you're doing. When you first walk in, you pick a piece of pottery out to decorate/paint. There are a ton of items to select from including bowls, mugs figurines, and plates. I picked a little bowl to paint and pulled up my Pinterest board for inspiration. I went to go pick out my colors and they all had swatches on them with 1-3 coats of paint to show you how it looks when fired. They also have precision tip paint bottles (in the same selection as the regular paint) for little details and stamps. They provide you with assortment of paint brushes, decorated pieces for inspiration and different foam applicators for ombre looks. They also give you ceramic palettes and a water mug to clean off your paintbrushes. After you're done with decorating, you clean up your items and put them in the correct compartments for the staff to wash. Then you pay and they tell you when you can pick it up (usually within a week). There was only one staff member when we were there, but she was super helpful and kind. It's a nice, relaxing place to paint. The staff is usually friendly and helpful. However, there was a "Cain, or Caid" who was rude and actually sighed when I asked her about writing the children's names on the bottom of their pieces. Then she threw a sticky pad on the counter in front of me. Seemed this was a major imposition though it's done all the time. I just got done paying $50! She has a job because of paying customers, so if "Cain" is unhappy she should work elsewhere or be re-trained in customer service and act like she wants to be there. read more

Adorable place located in the heart of Redmond Town Center. Our daughter was invited to have a play date with her classmate. This small shop operates on a first come first served basis - so many folx wait outside until a table becomes available. You start by selecting a ceramic piece to paint and then leave it for a few days until it's ready for pick up. The ceramic selection is huge and varies in price. From vases, bowls, skulls, dragons, plates, butter dishes ...so many choices! Our littles puppy was around $20. I'm looking forward to returning with adults to paint our hearts out. I can't say I'm a big fan of this location anymore. I used to go to this location often. But today, my husband wanted to have a nice painting date and decided to go to this location because of the giant window and nice area. Unfortunately the employees who were working today were really cold, no one welcomed us when we walked in (there were only 2 customers already painting so it was not busy and one of the employees just stared at us as we walked in). The selection/variety is not great. They were out of stock of a lot of the pieces they DO carry, as well. Also, I think it's extremely odd that they don't allow you to use their WiFi. The store was a dead zone for wireless anything, and I have a physically disabled mother who I need to stay in contact with while I'm gone. And when my husband asked about the WiFi password since we saw that their store WiFi was locked, we were told that there's a place down the street with free WiFi. Like...what?! You're kidding me, right? It costs you nothing to allow customers to use your WiFi. If you have it, there's no loss for you to let paying customers use it. I have never had that issue anywhere. It was so ridiculous. We left early, put a third piece back that I was planning on buying but decided it wasn't worth it. The attitude, the atmosphere and WiFi issue made me not want to stay. So we paid for the two pieces we had already painted on and left. Which, even when paying, the attitude and behavior from the employee at the register was cold and rude. Never going back, sadly. I highly recommend going to Creatively Yours in Bellevue. The selection is so much better, and 99% of the time, the employees are super friendly and helpful. Also, free WiFi ;) read more

It's just so gun coming here every time. You get to decide which kind of project you are painting. Huge variety. From cars to some plates. We usually paint plates for the kids in order to make some memories. After finishing, they coat them and put it in the oven during the next week. They would call you when your project is finished so you can pick it up. I am glad we have some stores like this one nearby. Plenty of colours to decide from. Fun chill creative spot. I had a reservation for glass fusing. You must reserve for glass fusing! It was mine & my husbands first time & i had so much fun. Once you make your reservation you can stay as long as you need to. My reservation was at 5:30pm & We didnt leave until they closed. The staff was so helpful in explaining how to use the tools to create a beautiful art piece. He also shared little tricks & best practices. It was tricky to cut the glass & create shapes you were hoping for as a beginner. Based on the size of your base glass you can choose to have it shaped as a bowl, plate, coaster, etc... We were the only ones doing glass fusing but there were definitely a lot of people doing pottery painting. We will be returning to continue to master glass fusing. I had such a fun time when I came for a glass fusing workshop! The employees start the session with an explanation of the process and demonstrations on how-tos such as cutting the glass shards. No prior experience is needed, there is a lot of freedom and hands-on activity, plus is friendly for kids. For mine I decided to make a coaster with a simple cardinal design on top. There was an abundance of colors, textures, and bases to work with; and the employees were more than happy to give suggestions and help with every part of the way. After piecing together my coaster for over an hour, I left it at the store to be fired. I went with full fusing where all the glass layers are completely merged into the base for a smooth surface and rounded edges. Due to the high heat, the glass will be warped and shrink a bit. I returned a couple days later to pick up the finished product and was really pleased with the result. The square coaster is roughly 3.75" by 3.75". It's cute and they attach the nonslip corner pads for you. I use the coaster everyday for my ceramic mug! read more

My 7.5 year old son and I visited this evening and such a pleasant experience. The staff member was kind and welcoming, even when we took FOREVER to pick out our pieces and paint color. (When you're 7.5 these decisions are very serious and take a lot of contemplation) I loved the wide selection of pieces to paint and the variety of brushes they provided. The walls are decorated with eclectic and pretty items so it's enjoyable just to look around while you wait for the paint to dry before applying next coats. THIS IS THE BEST POTTERY PAINTING PLACE EVER!!!! And I have been around the block! Katie the assistant at the shop was so kind,spirited, & helpful!! There was an array of pottery to choose from!!! It was hard to decide. Once you select your pieces, you simple refer to the blotches of paint colors. You jot down the number that matches with the colors, and go back to Katie that sets you up with an art bucket of brushes, requested paints, and sponges to clean the pottery before painting. It was such a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. But the best part was Katie!!! She really cares about her job and represents the brand impeccably. The party room is tucked in the back next to the bathroom (which is nice for handwashing) but also where they store finished pieces which kinda made things a little busy when we're trying to have a party and the employees keep coming in and out to grab finished items. I just walked in with my friend and we probably spent about 2 hours. They walked us through how to get set up and were available for questions if we had anything (we didn't though). When I was little, every year for my birthday, I'd choose to have my birthday party at a paint-your-own pottery place. I've ALWAYS loved it. Now that I'm older, I still find it super fun, but I also find it relaxing. It's honestly such a great thing to do if you have a lot on your mind and you want to ~relax~. My boyfriend and I have come here a couple of times now, and we have had great experiences both times. All the staff members are super friendly and helpful. They're back to letting you get your own paint, supplies, etc., which is super nice and easy. Basically, you go in, pick your pottery piece, grab a table, grab your supplies, and start painting! They have the tables separated with plastic linings, and they require everyone to wear masks. I feel like they're doing a good job handling COVID and safety precautions -- I feel safe when I'm here! You can either finish your piece the day you go in, or you can ask them to put it on hold so you can go back and finish it another time. I came here for the first time with my 3 nephews who initially were not very interested in ceramic/pottery painting. The studio was clean, organized, and had so many different pottery pieces we could paint! My nephews were able to pick out something they each liked and the staff was very helpful in directing us about supply use and then gave us our space to do our own thing. I appreciated that we could freely pick our own paints and swap as we wanted to without asking. The boys ended up getting into and really enjoying the painting! Been coming to Paint Away for a few years ... the prices seem to have increased, but for what it includes, it's not bad. What's not to love about a place that insists on you leaving your mess behind so they can clean up ... especially when you have kids. We recently had a baby and we decided to make some special presents for the Grandma/pa's. The staff at Paint Away was amazing at helping us. I always ask for Katie - she is SO patient when it came to working w/ our son trying to get his footprint on mugs, ornaments, plates, etc. She also had tips and tricks to getting the best print and was so good at helping us wipe the items clean when we didn't get the print just as we wanted it. She also works quickly so that our little guy didn't get upset. This is a great rainy day activity in an area which rains a lot - but what more, it's a very therapeutic activity ... one which is very relaxing to do when you don't have kids climbing on you. They have a huge selection of items for all price points. They have all the equipment you could possibly need. They've done a great job of showing you what the fired colors look like depending on how heavy you use the paint. They have all kinds of tools and tips for you if you're not sure how to pull off a design. They also have a ton of examples to inspire you if you're not sure what you want to do. They also offer parties for kids and adults alike. Bear in mind that it does take a week to get your item back once you finish painting it. If you don't finish your item you can leave it w/ them or take it home and bring it back when you want to finish it. Honestly I've loved this place...up until today. My girlfriends and I go here at least once a month to catch up while we paint. The girls that work there are awesome and friendly EXECPT for the owner. Can I say she's a rude b*tch? First of all...for being an owner, she CANT run her own store. At first I thought she was just a rude worker until I found out she owned the place. Yes, today was a bad day to go in--there were 2 big parties and the place was packed! Instead of taking control of the situation, she was a wreck and quite frankly ANNOYING! The cherry on top was when I went up to pay. I usually bring in bisque ware from Seattle Pottery--been doing it for the past 3 months. Its not that it's cheaper, but the fact that I found other pieces that I'd rather paint than the pieces they have at Paint Away. So I told the owner (who was ringing me up) that I brought in my own bisque ware. She rambles on and on about how she can't glaze and fire it for me because its from somewhere else and how I can only use their pieces...blah blah blah. So I told her that I've been bringing in my own pieces for 3 months without any problems, then asked her "So you can't fire my pieces?" Rudely, she said she can and then told me that she will talk to her staff not to anymore. Don't think I'll be going back any time soon--unless there is a change in management! read more

Super cute place located in the Redmond town center. My boyfriend and I spontaneously dropped in as it was our first time there. When we walked in, no one was there to great us so we decided to walk around to see what pieces we can paint. Eventually, someone showed up and gave us the run down. You choose a piece and she pointed out the paint in which we can use. All the resources we needed to create our artwork were clean and laid out in front of us such as brushes, sponges, wide variety of paints and shades. I highly recommend coming here with a friend or simply by yourself and some headphones and let your creativity go! It's very relaxing if you come here by yourself as I saw a couple people do so. You can pick up your masterpiece a week after you complete it, or sometimes a day earlier in which we were able too since we called to check on them. read more

I love painting pottery, and this a a nice place. I have had one item come out of the kiln cracked, but they gave me store credit. I will say that it get's VERY busy on the weekends with kids and parties. I walked into this place with my daughter today at around noon. We waited for a while at the counter for help. I thought all the employees were in the back maybe. Finally, a woman with glasses and somewhat curly hair got up from one of the tables. And asked if I was there to pick up or sit down and paint. I told her we wanted to sit down and paint but all the tables seemed taken. She replied in a very snarky way with her loud voice: "Well... all the tables only have 2 people... maybe just grab one and sit...". Needless to say that everyone turned around and looked us as her rudeness was awkward. I was going to tell her off and walk out but did not want to disappoint my daughter who had been looking forward to painting. Needless to say, never again! I'll be taking my business elsewhere. If you're having a bad day, stay home! UPDATE: Thank you for your response. I appreciate how you handled the situation so promptly. I was actually quite surprised when she came up to me and apologized. I did not realized you had removed the item from my bill as I did not look at my receipt until I left. I, otherwise, would have insisted to pay for it as my goal is never to get any kind of compensation but rather retrain employees when needed. The displays are nice, but I cannot stand the attitudes of the employees. They ignore you while sitting in the back room doing who knows what. I did not get greeted once and had to walk around confusingly with my 5-year-old daughter. I tried to get help but I ended up just leaving the store because the customer service is beyond awful and I will not tolerate it.
