We walked in without an appointment on a Saturday afternoon, and the staff were super friendly and helpful explaining how to get started. We came to paint "Happy Birthday" and "Santa's Cookies" plates for our baby, but I was already eyeing other pieces to paint next time! They have a great variety of ceramics to choose from and they don't charge extra for the speckled paints like some places do, which is such a nice perk. I have mixed feelings about this place. It would be better if the employees cared and were more helpful. This was our first time so of course we had no idea what to do. When we asked the employee said just "pick something" but weren't clear about all the paint options or the tools that you could use. I think the employees need better training to make it a better experience. What I liked about this place is all the prices (studio fee, baking fee) were all together. Each piece had a price on it and that was exactly what you would pay. It was also big, some studios are pretty small but it felt okay still even though it was a very busy day. Their selection of items isn't great. We had fun but after trying to use the back of the paintbrush for line work and then only after noticing all the equipment made me annoying. Also an employee had her dog with her and it sort of seemed like she was at her own home and maybe too distracted by her dog and laptop to pay attention to everyone else. There was a nice woman that gave us a lot of info upon check out but only cause we asked. Since the selection is limited you can bring your own items to paint, but make sure they will hold up in the kiln (no plaster). Five of us got a variety of items for a total of $100. Prices range between $10-$30 (more for big items). There was a bday party happening when we were there. I think that's a great place for a party. Big, you can bring food, and they clean up after. I hope the employees can receive a little more training to help make the environment better and for families spending a lot of money it's nice to get a bigger explanation if it's the first time. read more

My wonderful friend Jen wanted to get together and do a Christmas ornament painting. But we fell in love with the other options they had on their shelves. We both picked a big cup for hot coco or coffee, and her friend picked a genome and mushroom. We had such an awesome time and loved how they don't add on all kinds of studio fees .The priced of the item includes it all in there. I got to tried a new technique of screen painting and it was awesome. They do get busy so you gotta call and make sure they have a tables for ya. We didn't call ahead but they were able to get us a table and they were so kind. The girls were there to help us with any questions we may have. This cup is now my favorite cup and can't wait to go back and make some more art! read more

I have really mixed feelings about my experience at this ceramic shop! I love painting ceramics and was really excited to try out this place after Color Me Mine in Mill Creek closed. However, I don't know that I will be going back. This shop has new owners and they were there working in the back of the studio for the couple of hours that I spent painting. They were very kind and more than happy to help. However, they were very loud and did not stop talking the entire time that I was there. If you want a peaceful painting experience, this place isn't the one for you. Instead of listening to some low music and chatting with my mom as we painted, we both ended up slightly annoyed by having to listen to their personal conversations for the 4 hours we spent here. The selection of ceramic pieces to paint were also disappointing but that is due to personal preference. There were quite a lot of pieces, but there weren't many basic pieces to paint. Most of them looked like they were designed for kids and there were minimal regular dishes to paint. I was hoping for some light switches, bowls, plates, mugs, etc. but settled on a pretty large serving dish as it was the only thing like I had hoped for that they had. The selection of paints, materials to paint with, etc. were all great and I felt like I had everything I needed to make something that I was happy with. My only other complaint is that one of the family members working that day brought a young girl to work with them. As this is a kid-friendly place where youth come to paint, that part did not bother me at all. However, they allowed the girl to sit at our table and mess with our supplies. I found this to be pretty unprofessional. She kept shaking and playing with things on our table as we were trying to paint, she was slapping paint bubbles on our table which resulted in splattered paint on my clothes, and she swiped her hand on the lantern that my mom made. They also left her unattended in the studio at one point while my mom and I as well as others were painting which I thought was a major safety concern! Overall, the materials and were great and the painting was fun as we had hoped for but the environment and atmosphere was disappointing. A friend of mine paints here, and after being having to decline her invitation a couple times, I figured, WTH, I'll go paint! It was easy to get there, there's parking available, and if you're green-minded like I am, Everett Transit stops nearby. The shop has a good selection of paints to use, and ceramics to paint. It was nice to see that there were cheap, easy pieces for the newbies, and more complicated ones for the pros. I really liked that. The owner's a very nice middle aged woman, and she treated me like family. I felt really comfortable here, and it was a great place to spend a Friday night. The shop's clean, and she provides free snacks/drinks, and the prices are very reasonable. Prices include studio time, and firing of your piece. The sign still says The Ceramic Place, but I think their website changed their name to Stuffington's Ceramics and More. Regardless, it's still the same place. I found the shop to be very welcoming. The staff is super nice. I had never been to any pottery painting shops before and the staff walked me through the process and was super nice. I find their prices to be quite reasonable. Most things fall into the $20-30 range, but keep in mind, you are not only buying the ceramic piece, but the time to sit at the table, the energy needed to fire the piece, the glaze (there are no restrictions on how many colors you can use) and use of the accessories. I had a good time and will definitely be going back there. They have a nice variety of items and I love that their glaze is non-toxic and water-soluble. They also have a stamp card program which I'll definitely be using as this place isn't far from my house. Overall, a very positive experience. read more

Well, I can think of a few things, but painting ceramics is still pretty cool. The owner of The Ceramic Place, Marilyn, is wonderful. Meet her once and she'll remember your name and what ceramic piece you created--Pretty amazing when you see how many projects are in progress throughout the months! Marilyn's shop is open late on a variety of nights each month, including Family Night, Ladies Night, and my favorite: Paint 'Til You Faint. One thing I like about The Ceramic Place is the amount and variety of ceramic projects you can choose from. So far, I've painted a tea cup and saucer, 2 trivets, a coaster set, a tea light holder, a moon-shaped trinket box, and a giraffe-shaped magnet. Think of all the cool things you can paint for your family and friends! Prices vary between ceramic pieces. All you have to do is purchase the piece and the instructions and supplies and space you need to paint them are free. On special nights, there may also be special pricing discounts, too. My best advice for newbie ceramic painters like me: Don't get frustrated if your project doesn't turn out exactly like you think it will. You can always repaint it and fire it again. :-) read more

I came here with a group on Mother's day. This was the 1st time that I have ever done anything like this so I do not have anything to compare it to. They have a large assortment of items to paint. Some of the stuff is very reasonable while other stuff I thought was a little much. It just depends on the size of what you are wanting to do. They have a haggle section with random things but my sister in law and husband both found things on there and got great deals on them. It was pretty busy when we got there and the older gentleman that greeted us was a little awkward in telling us what we should do. We washed our hands and picked out or pieces. After we did that, the other guy that was working helped us out more with the paints, brushes, books and everything we needed to know. Thank God for him otherwise we would have not known they had all kinds of books to trace etc. The owner came in when we were about half way through our projects. She was great. She helped my brother in law with some special stuff he wanted to do to his piece. My only complaint is that there was a women working, at least I think she was, and she was a little rude. She came over to see if we had a certain color of paint at our table which we did, but the way she asked it was very curt and then she took it, walked over to another customer and said "Here, that is how it is done." Uh, we are more than willing to lend a color over, not an issue. She did this 2 times and each time she would come over and set the paint down abruptly and walk away with a snarky thanks. I don't see any reason that was called for. We were all friendly at our table so...? I will see what happens when I pick the pieces up this weekend. read more

I wandered into this place because I am instinctively drawn to all things clay. I am a wheel potter so the bisque and paint thing is new to me. When we came in, we were greeted by the owner. She was very thorough in explaining the process thoroughly. Did I mention she was very thorough in her detailed explanation? So thorough, you wouldn't believe it. From glaze to proper brush usage, nothing was left unexplained. I very much appreciated that. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The place was full by the time we left. I am absolutely stunned that there is a negative review. This place is great! I have been in 3-4 times now. It is so relaxed and everyone is happily chatting, creating, laughing - it's just a great environment. The owner and her staff are so friendly and helpful and they have great examples and ideas. You can also bring in bottles for them to slump in the kiln. I brought in the champagne bottle from our wedding and had it slumped in to a cheese board. We have made some gorgeous gifts and made some beautiful things for ourselves. We will be back without a doubt :) read more

I've been to this location a handful of times, and had pretty consistent experiences each time. The location is just off the freeway, and easy to find. There was plenty of parking when I visited on the weekend. The shop itself is clean and cute, but there was no music or background noise, and it was actually a little uncomfortable how quiet it was. I felt like I had to whisper, and it's supposed to be a fun, crafty place! The employee working that day (each time I've gone, only one employee was present) was friendly enough, but her conversation with another customer that she evidently knew raised a few eyebrows and I wondered if she realized that other customers could hear them. I wasn't able to finish my piece in one studio visit, and I had to bring it home with me. I know some stores hold items for you so you wouldn't have to tote them around and risk damage. This would have be a nice option. My piece was wrapped in tissue and given to me in a paper bag for travel. When I returned to paint my piece, the employee on shift was an extremely helpful young man. He seemed knowledgeable on the different kinds of paints and he had many tips that helped me choose the right tools for my project. It turned out great and I credit him for the outcome. There are lots of items to choose for painting, but they are so darned expensive! Granted, there are no studio fees, but I didn't remember prices being so high the last time I visited. As an example, I chose a small (approx. 1.5") heart trinket bowl with a lid that was $16.00. Even tiny figurines no taller than a couple inches were nearly $20. I uploaded a photo of a section of items, and you can see that a "salad plate" will cost you $18, and larger "oval handled platters" and "ruffle bowls" will run you $58 and $38 respectively. Side note: the price labels in here are atrocious. They are handwritten on post-it notes. Some are missing, some are in the wrong spots, and it was hard to locate the cost for many items. It's very sloppy. The website is very outdated, and not at all informative. The calendar page lists special events such as Ladies Night and Paint Till You Faint, but doesn't describe these events (or are they classes?), or if they're private or RSVP only, or open to the public, or whether there's an enrollment fee. I thought the "class flyers" page might have more information, but it lists classes that were held nearly one year ago. I'd suggest signing up for the newsletter if you want current information. I sent a message via facebook and my questions were answered promptly, which was appreciated, as I intended to visit that same week. Overall, the painting is always a fun experience. It's a neat activity to splurge on every once in a while, but the prices prevent me from visiting more often. The customer service is average (if inconsistent) but I have no serious complaints. Tips: -The Entertainment Book has coupons for 25% off your purchase. -The website shows their Sunday hours as 2-9 and notes that they "may close at 8pm if nobody is here." read more

I don't even know where to begin with The Ceramic Place. I've been here just a few times, all of them worse than the last. Most recently, I took my 4-year-old son to paint a plate. It was meant to be a present for his aunt, and we went 2 weeks before her birthday just to make sure I got it in time. When I had called beforehand, the lady I talked to said it would take 3 to 4 days for the piece to get fired. When I came in the next day, the lady acknowledged that she had talked to me on the phone. After my son was done painting, she said the piece would be finished in a week. Okay, you just said it would take 3 to 4 days, and acknowledged that you had talked to me. Now it's a week? Whatever, I would still have a week before the birthday. A week later, I came in to pick up the plate. I encountered a teenage boy for the first time, who completely did NOT know what he was doing. I explained that I was in to pick up a flower plate my son had painted the previous week. Blank stare. Kid had NO idea what I was talking about. He had to call someone to ask about the plate, and came back to say that it wasn't done and that I should call back tomorrow. A bit weird, but okay... The next day I called and got the kid again. He said sorry, it's not done yet, but the kiln is cooling down and will definitely be ready tomorrow. Great, because we're getting close to the birthday, and my kid is getting impatient. If only it were that easy. I went in the next evening and a different, heavier lady was there. I told her what I was here for, and she also got confused. She said "Are you sure you didn't pick it up? I didn't see it, it's not here, we don't have it..." etc. You have GOT to be kidding me. For the next WEEK, I called back, trying to figure out where my son's plate had gone. The birthday came and went. No present for aunty = a very upset 4-year-old. A few days after, The Ceramic Place called me back and said "Oh we're so sorry, it was hiding in the back and we forgot about it. It will be ready in 4 days." So 4 days later, here I have the elusive flower plate. My son was so upset that he had to give his aunty her flower plate present a WEEK after her birthday. Completely unacceptable. I can understand mistakes, but 3 weeks of incompetence resulting in an upset 4-year-old is just ridiculous. I will not be going back. There is another ceramic place at the Mill Creek Town Center called Color Me Mine, and another in Lynnwood called Kids n' Clay. I would HIGHLY advise you give these places a try first; infinitely better, competent staff, and they don't lose your stuff. read more

I Don't get why the other reviews said that they were inexpensive. My friend and I actually thought they were expensive. For a tea cup your looking at $25 or more and that is one of the smallest things in there to paint. Also we looked into getting some clay which ends up being $20 a pound, which is like a small slab of clay. The clay was also too hard to really work with. I should of returned it and asked them for a "softer" piece. On a more positive note, The staff there were EXTREMELY friendly! (The only reason I am giving them 3 stars instead of 2 actually.) The place was big enough to have a few parties going on also. It was also warm and inviting when you enter. So, if you are thinking of going somewhere to paint ceramics I suggest you do some research and pricing before picking one place. read more

Have been here a few times with my kids to paint-presents for Father's Day, Birthday parties, etc. We are always treated kindly, the kids have tons of fun & the employees are patient with them. Sometimes the noise level (being that these are kids-especially during birthday parties) gets a little high & other customers & employees seem a little miffed-I get it but you've got to realize these are kids. I am an avid pottery painter! Marilyn is THE BEST. great tips, very talented and super friendly :) It is a great place to bring the whole family and enjoy some quality time. Great selection of paints and even offer some really cool glass art demonstrations as well as bottle slumping...we have about 5 wine bottles and champagne from special occasions that we can now have forever as really cool art decoration around the house! My son loves it, it is great for birthdays, they have amazing summer camps and are SO GREAT with kids! I would tell anyone to go here! I've been here twice now... Once for Mother's day and again for a "paint till you faint" session. My first creation I just... Painted. I was pleased with the result. I had a blast painting it and it came out glossy and close to perfect. It did somehow get a couple little dots of colors I didn't use on it though. And this is where my issue is... I love how all inclusive this place is... But you sure pay for it... $$$ And once you're done painting and creating it, it's in their hands until you pick it up in a week. I decided to make a cup and saucer and use what they call "clay slip", I believe. This means I get a raised design wherever I add it. It was beautiful... Until I got it a week later... The piped design was chipped all over the place. The worker broke some off while explaining where chipped parts were... And then I thought... Where's the wonderful gloss like the example pieces I saw??!?!! The worker had nothing to say other than sorry he broke more bits off and wasn't willing to help fix the problem. Needless to say, after spending over $80 on two medium projects that night, and getting a mess in return, we decided we won't be back for a while. I have canvas and acrylic paints at home. read more

I took my family in to paint a platter that I've been wanting to do for quite awhile. The staff was very helpful and thorough with walking us through the process and helping us choose what paints would work best for what we were doing. The selection of ceramics and colors are great and I love that the pricing is right there in front of you and you don't have to worry about paying double, or even triple, due to having to add studio time on top of the price of your piece. The ladies were very nice and welcoming, and really do a great job of creating an environment that really makes you want to come back. I was really disappointed with this place. I called around and thought they had a great selection. When I got there with my daughter, the selection was not as good as I hoped and my daughter had picked three pieces and each piece was cracked. Even after we paid for one, we found a crack. I also had them fire a piece for me and when I picked it up one side completely flaked off. If you are new to the studio, she takes you into a 10-15 introduction on how to use the studio, which really bit into our time that we had for this activity with my daughter. The other thing that was disappointing was that they do not have any storage place for your piece which means you take it home,risk the chance of breaking it so that makes it hard too.. Over all, it's a neat concept but lacking in many ways. Not sure I will return which is sad. read more

A wonderful and easy place to go to do some crafting. I love the shop because of how easy it is. All their prices are up front so you KNOW how much you are going to pay, rather than charging for paint, time, and other things that add up without you knowing it! There is great selection and lots of resources to get you inspired!! My only reason for not giving full stars was the atmosphere. The worker there was really friendly but made lots of political and religious statements that made me uncomfortable and had conversations using some language that makes me unsure of taking my young niece or any other kids with me in the future. OMG... Where do I start. We were pretty much ignored well lunch was made for a handicapped women. She and Robin ( an owner ?) ate lunch and talked loudly about personal things including topics not likely to befriend customers. Robin fought on the phone with her husband, shared comments with everyone, all of this with young children in the store. It felt very uncomfortable and unacceptable and inappropriate. The young child with us looked at us and made a face as if to say 'what the heck?' I was incorrectly charged. Some children came in to claim their projects, that were lost. Not taken very seriously but devastating to the kids. All in all even with the large space, I will go to mill creek for a more pleasant and customer focused experience. read more

I took my daughter in there to make a project for her father, and even know ours didn't make it through the Furnace process, the ladies in there were so friendly and helpful. They made sure that my daughter could come back and make another project with her father on them. You could tell that the people that went in there felt right at home!
