We had some family pieces handed down to us for our new home and they needed some work done to be ready to hang. The folks at Artisan Custom Framing were immediately able to help with my walk in and they are very friendly and helpful. We picked out frames and glass fairly quickly and they were able to find a good fit for my pieces that was within my budget. Turn around time was about three weeks which was expected and worth the wait! We got our pieces back and hung them immediately. We are so in love and happy with how they turned out. I recently had an old shadow box completely remade at Artisan Custom Framing. The original shadow box was pretty old and had some really bad memories attached to it, and I wanted to refresh it so that I could continue to preserve my pointe shoes but let go of the negative associations with the box itself. Sara took the time to really listen to what I wanted, while also offering innovative suggestions and her knowledge as an artist to help make decisions when I wasn't really sure about what I wanted to do with some of the details. She not only listened carefully to all of the little things that I said about my desires for the physical piece, but also all of the emotional aspects that were SO important to me. The result is absolutely gorgeous and there are special touches that I could not have gotten anywhere else. Now I proudly display this special piece of my history in a place where everyone can see it, rather than in the dark corner I used to hide the old one in. A very well-run business with decent prices and all the features you would expect at a good frame shop. They are neither the cheapest, nor the most expensive. If you want to save money on framing, Michael's is probably your friend. But if you need a high-end custom job done, Artisan can probably hook you up without completely emptying your wallet. I brought in a couple of pieces with simple specs--mat, plain glass, simple frame. They were very patient in prepping the job, working out exactly the right look without grabbing dozens of different samples that cost more than I wanted to spend. Couple weeks later, everything was ready to go. Everything looks perfect. The mounting wire is well fixed, and the nails and hooks they throw in are attractive. The staff is pleasant and communication is good. Really, there's everything to like about this place. If you're inclined to spend a little extra on custom framing as opposed to just buying a ready-made, they're well worth it. read more

I bought an original print on burlap from Tanzania, Africa so it was very important to me to go to a local frame shop that understood the importance of the art. I picked the right place. Sarah took her time with me and consulted on the right way to frame the art. The end product was amazing. Informative, knowledgeable, great communication. We have an old family painting that needed restoration. Took it elsewhere initially and that one didn't complete the work. Artisan had a much harder job in not only original restoration, but also in finishing what the other did not complete. She did an amazing job!! Very thoughtful and kind as well. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend artisan custom framing. I needed seven different items framed. At first, things were very positive and I was confident in their plan. When they quoted me on how much the frames would cost, which were rather big frames, I was a bit taken a back given the other quotes I had gotten from other stores. I asked them for a quote for my seven items for exclusively the labor in framing the items into the frames, as I decided to purchase the physical frames from the internet. I was met with an insulted "so we're just your labor." This was very awkward. I asked her to give me a detailed quote for the seven items and after inspecting her quote, I agreed, and paid for half. We agreed I'd pay for the other half at the completion of the project. I went into the shop when they told me they had framed three of the seven items. Not only did they frame the wrong items as they were instructed to frame them in a certain order, but upon my dissatisfaction, I was told they wouldn't honor the quote they provided to me as "it wan't worth their time." In my view this was very unfair as we had an agreement. I didn't coerce anyone to make a specific quote. The quote was provided on their terms and I just agreed to it. In the end, I was told they wouldn't honor our agreement and I left with three items that were not framed to my instruction and back at square one for the rest of my project. I don't think that this is standard practice for this shop, but I can only speak for my experience, which was unprofessional and an utter let down. read more

These guys are absolutely fantastic! They made each piece come alive, with contrasts and frames that resulted in an eye popping experience! Our family brought a caricature in from our recent trip to Disney World and had the distinct pleasure of meeting with Ellen, the owner. She took the time to show us many different combinations of frames and matting and, once we'd decided, she took our order. Later that day, my husband found a special memento of the trip that he'd decided would look great framed with our caricature and called Ellen.
