Wandered in here yesterday and it immediately became one of my favorite stores ever!! Staff is incredibly friendly and beyond helpful! I was able to purchase something I had been unable to find at chain art stores and I was told they could order in my favorite brand of oil paint for me! It took so much willpower not to spend all my money there because they really have a great selection of items. They had good covid precautions and provided hand sanitizer for customers. Coming in here really just made my day and I'm so happy to have such an excellent local shop to buy from instead of chain stores!! Super friendly staff! The inside is clean and well maintained, they have a little bit of everything and if they don't have what you want they are happy to order it. The prices are very fair and the amount of fun events they plan is awesome. For June there is a watercolor postcard challenge kit and they have a subscription box called Drawbridge that is well worth the money! I can't express just how awesome these guys are! Wow. This is quite the resource for art supplies here in downtown Edmonds. The man who runs this store is very knowlegeable about the products for sale, and I like how the store hold art classes regularly for both adults and kids. They have a good selection of higher-end supplies for painting, etching, drawing and encaustic materials as well. There are funky artsy knick-knacks too (which are fun), like zip-up cases and purses, and artisan-made jewelry for sale. I was able to find a good set of colored pencils which my kid needs for school next year, and it didn't break the bank. I liked how the owner or clerk didn't bat an eye when I directly told him that I didn't want or need the expensive stuff for my purposes. He easily found a great set for $12 and told us why this brand was so good. (I noticed that there were sets for 3, 4 times that cost and more). So the range of prices for art supply items is pretty good here, and the quality is better than at many places I've been to. The store is a little dark and cramped, and I'd like to see a bit more light in the interior space, but other than that, what a super resource! If I lived near here, I'd sign my kids and myself up for regular art classes here. I like how this place supports local artists and the arts. read more

Bright, colorful and organized, the second you walk in you will be taken by the rainbow and the delight of the staff. The staff at this store has gone above and beyond for others and myself when asked questions. They can help you refine ideas, answer questions about difference in brand and supplies and even help you know some other areas in Edmonds for whatever needs you may have. This place is HEAVEN for artists!!!! It took every ounce of me not to spend my entire paycheck on tools and paints and everything in between. I was on a mission to find sealing wax and calligraphy ink and they had plenty of ink to look at, at such a reasonable price!!!! I went home with two choices at $3.50 a piece. Happy girl!!! I'm kicking myself for not getting the guy who worked there's name, but he was such a huge help!!! Even though they didn't carry the wax I was looking for, he went the extra mile (without me asking) and searched for the correct name of the wax I was looking for. It's so great that they offer classes as well! I would definitely like to attend one. I will be back when I'm finished making my own canvases to spend, spend SPEND!!! read more

I want to start off by saying this is my favorite art store in the area. The Art Spot has an incredible array of tools and mediums for artists of all levels, with higher quality and harder-to-find products than large commercial stores. When I came in recently, I was blown away by how thoughtfully re-designed some of the displays were, especially the new pen/marker wall, which made it so easy to find exactly what I was looking for (I might have also picked up more than what I was looking for too! ;) ). I had to subtract a star from my review though, because when I went to the back of the store to get my canvas, it was so dark that I had to make sure I hadn't walked into a storage closet accidentally! It was strange how dimly lit that back area was (and when I asked if the light switch was off, was told that, no, there was just a problem with the overhead lighting and it'll probably stay like that for awhile). I really hope they can get some nice bright lighting in that space soon, if not for the simple fact that color, tone, shade, and textures make a huge difference in art and it's really frustrating to try to use my phone's flashlight to find what I needed! read more

This is the absolute BEST art store! It's a bit of a drive for me but the prices are so much better than Hobby Lobby or Michaels, even with their coupons. For example, Winsor and Newton's Gum Arabic at Michaels is like $16 and at ART Spot it's like $8. And they have so many more brands to choose from for watercolors, papers, brushes, calligraphy supplies, etc. I was in heaven and wanted everything, the owner and the other lady working even stayed open late to let me finish finding everything I needed (or maybe just wanted..) and were very helpful. They even gave me 2 pages of watercolor samples from Daniel Smith that have the actual paint on them so I could try out new colors since I spent over $200. I will keep coming here and skip out on Michaels and Hobby Lobby from now on. read more

I went in asking if I could exchange a tube of paint (unused) I'd gotten from them. The fellow who helped me said because it was part of a deal he didn't think I could but I could come back and ask the owner. I came back and asked the two ladies who were there. My response was "We ALREADY told you you couldn't!" Extremely rude treatment of a customer. Maybe they think I don't have other choices. It is certainly their right to say no, but not to treat someone like that. read more

Everyone who works there is a working artist (that should read "invaluable knowledge") Prices are actually decent.
