Push/Pull is an "underground art and comix" shop that sells and promotes 'Art, Supplies, Classes,…read moreand Community.' Came here for the community aspect as they hosted one of many locations for a town wide community cocktail walk was going on. We sipped cardamom-lemon vodka here as featured by a local restaurant. While there we chatted with the shop employees who were very nice. While sipping we browsed the studio looking at are pieces by local artists which can be purchased. A perfect example of supporting small business and local art. Push/Pull lives up to their statement being a part of and promoting the community. There is a fair amount art supplies here - including but of course not limited to Sketch books, brushes, glazes, paints, easels and more. They offer classes and have info about events going, so if you're an artist and want to be in more 'in the know' it may be worth checking out Push/Pull simply for that. I hope Push/Pull continues to be a part of the neighborhood!

I haven't sewn since high school home ec. Why? Because who really has: #1 the money to purchase…read morea sewing machine and #2 the room to store it. Not I, that's for sure. There have been times I've been looking for a certain cute top, wanting to repair my favorite article of clothing, or something along those lines in which I needed a sewing machine. Instead of buying one (absurd!) I just lived without or tossed the damaged item. NO LONGER! Made offers hourly sewing machine use, they have all the supplies you will need including super cute fabrics right there (and by cute I don't mean Disney print fleece) and they also have (and this is the huge plus) the people that know what they're doing and are there to help. Yup. I'm sold. They even offer classes - including one on making jeans, which I am super stoked for because it means no more hours in the dressing room trying to find the perfect fit. Also, want to teach your kid how to sew? You can do that here too! I heard they're having a bunch of classes during winter vacation for when kids are out of school - what a great time for some mother-daughter bonding! You can purchase time by the hour or buy weekly or month passes and luckily Greenwood is still the land of free street parking, and there's plenty of it, so you can get right in and get your sew on. So as you can tell, I'm in love. Leave it to Greenwood to have yet another super cute and unique shop, making me wish I still lived there...*sigh*.

We wandered into Swoon Books as part of the Ballard Book Crawl (incredible event, 10/10, highly…read morerecommend) and oh, what a lovely find. The store is so aesthetic and thoughtfully curated, it's like the kind of bookshop that makes you want to read every book on the shelves. The LGBTQ+ selection was excellent and very visible, not tucked in a corner, which immediately made the space feel welcoming and intentional. The vibe overall is just really pleasant and warm, you can tell it's a place that actually loves books and the people who love books. Left very happy with my finds and already thinking about going back.

I attended a romance improv that was surprisingly funny and met a lot of cool people. CLASSES. A variety of craft classes where you can meet new people and learn something new. There are also lots of craft supplies you could buy in the store. The owner is also lovely to talk with and since they just opened has been so willing to hear from customers and make fine-tunes. I have been working at the Clay Corner for 4 months and it is a great community studio. Very well…read moreorganized, clean and aware of health issues. But what is the BEST is the people. From founder SEAN to Amanda and Alex and Henry and Morgan and Sarah, everyone is kind and helpful. It is also a place where I, an experoenced clay worker, can find my way and finish projects started elsewhere and start new ones. I would like to see more advanced workers, maybe visiting from afar or close, but that too seems possible. This is a great studio and there is room for more beginners or experienced people. Good available clays and slips and stains and glazes. Great tile samples. Most of all, an oasis where touch and imagination can mix!

They also offer "open studio" hours where you can use the space for an hourly fee if you don't want to sign-up for the full membership. They have quite a few wheels available for classes and general studio use and a fair selection of glazes. We took a bootcamp class to get our start with ceramics and learn the ropes. They offer a wide range of classes from beginner to advanced skills. They have drying areas and a kiln where they will fire your creations. Street parking is limited in the area, but there is an underground garage located right across the street. The underground parking garage does charge a pretty steep per-hour rate however (3 hrs was over $17 as of 2/2023). Overall, a nice space with good people. A great space to learn or practice your ceramics. Definitely worth checking out!
