My wall rug before detailing!
Whitnee N.

Tufting has been on my bucket list for years and I finally crossed it off at Tuft Ruft . The whole experience was amazing!!! The process from start to finish is so much FUN!!! Carrie and Joel (owners) are so positive and will help guide you. They make tufting very beginner friendly and if you are not a beginner they can help give you tips to improve :) It was soooooooo much fun-I'm still SO happy even thinking about this experience I can't wait to do it again!!! I HIGHLY recommend this for a date, bachelorette party, sibling adventure, or friend hangout!!!!! Logistics: First you book online and you will pick the sm or lg canvas. You submit your image and they will make an outline of it on the canvas for you when you arrive! I do recommend something on the simpler side because 4 hrs goes fast and you not only have to tuft but also need to do touch up and detailing on the rug, which is where the magic really happens. Parking is going to be street parking so give yourself time before the class starts and it's 2hrs parking so you will have to deal with that unless it's Sunday, so keep that in mind as you tuft.

Worth every penny for this one of a kind awesome tufting experience! The studio is a really cool space that serves as a gallery / workshop area. Once you go in, your station is already equipped with everything you need including a printed canvas with your image that you upload upon booking! The husband n wife instructor couple were so cool and friendly and knowledgeable, and made the 4 hr lengthy workshop so much fun! I would really recommend anyone who enjoy crafts or wanna give it a try, DO IT. This is great for couples, friends, solo, or team event. Im hoping to bring my team in the summer if we can!!

I have wanted to rug tuft for soo long now especially with all the TikTok videos. This workshop is fairly priced and you get to take home your own personally customized rug at the end! The entire experience took roughly 4 hours for a 18x20in rug. When you arrive they will teach you how to hold the rug gun and how to set it up with yarn. The design you send in is already traced onto the base, so you can do a few practice runs before filling in your design. At the beginning it was kind of difficult applying the correct pressure with the rug gun and following the lines, but after a while you get the hang of it! It was really relaxing and super fun seeing the design come to life. Mistakes are really easy to fix because you can always pull out the yarn and start over. Once the rug is done being tufted they put a backing on, then you cut out the excess base and shave the rug down to your liking! Since the workshop is long they also provide some small drinks and snacks which I found super thoughtful! I love this experience so much and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's interested in trying something new and getting a cool rug out of it!

Our masterpieces :)

I went with a small group yesterday afternoon, in celebration of my birthday. It was so much fun! I would recommend this to the artistic and non-artistic, the crafters and non-crafters and the coordinatedand uncoordinated. The husband and wife who run this business are absolutely charming and so helpful and encouraging. Book a class!

A fun, creative and experience for friends! I went as a small group and the Tuft Ruft team walked us through the full tufting process from start to finish. They offered helpful advice and guidance all along the way and my friends and I all left with cute, one of a kind rugs we could be proud of! It was also a great activity for hanging out and catching up as friends--plenty of time to flow naturally from focus on our individual projects to chatting with each other and back again. Great use of an afternoon in the city!

Tufted rug

I highly recommend this rug tufting class ! The instructor Joel was super helpful, guided me along the way. Everything is provided for in the class including snacks. Once I was done tufting, he added a non slip backing for me. I had to then cut the excess backing and shave off the yarn which was the most satisfying part of this experience. The entire experience felt worth it for me, I acquired a new skill and left with a custom rug.

Monstera rug!

What a unique experience! Me and my best friend decided to book with tuft ruft to do a fun activity together and it was so fun and worth it! Carrie is the sweetest and nicest person ever too :) This is located in the urban worklofts in sodo with plenty of free parking which is always a plus! Here's how the session went: First we picked out a outline picture of the rug we want to make, then they project it onto the board so we can trace it out with a pen. Next Carrie taught us how to use the tufting gun and basics on how tos and things not to do and we took some time to practice a couple times on the edges until we get comfortable Then we got into it! There's a wall filled with yarn in different colors that you can pick and choose from and we started making the rug. In total it took around 3 hours for the regular sized frame and was told it takes around 5 for the larger frame but it depends on the person, some might finish earlier. Once we were done with our main piece, if we had time we were able to make smaller patches using the remaining space to turn into a key chain or a coaster. Once that was done we were given glue to spread on the back of the board. That's basically the end of the session but Carrie will shave and clean up the rug and add the backing you choose (we chose a non slip backing) and it'll be ready for pickup within a couple days. Throughout this whole experience Carrie was super helpful with giving us advice on what colors to choose, if any areas needed to be filled in, etc. me and my friend got so into it we were working in silence majority of the time loll I highly recommend checking out Tuft Ruft, it's something I've never done before and it was so much fun. Would love to come back to make more rugs in the future!!

This unique, engaging, and enjoyable event was hosted by Jennifer, Yelp Eastside CM from Issaquah. Our VYEE instructor was Kellie, the enthusiastic and passionate owner of The Works in Seattle (2/11/21). I signed up thinking ahead for something fun to look forward to. After my recent past two weeks, this event was so welcomed! I'm always curious how artists and craftspeople create unique items and are able to establish a vibrant indie business too. I've taken other similar classes that allows for creativity and a timeout from the day-to-day. The vibe that Jennifer and Kellie created during this hour session, and seeing others with their custom, handmade bath bombs...this was a much needed and appreciated this evening. I ordered my kit on 2/8/21 intended to pick it up in person. And of course, life interfered. But the folks at The Works worked their magic, kindly got it in the mail, and I received it day of the event. Lovely packaging. Makes a great gift! Techniques are freely shared and allowed for further creativity with additional tips from Kellie and other Yelp Elites participating. I listened intently, took copious notes, and took screenshots. Inside the Bath Bombs Kit are all the items needed, including an instruction booklet, and video link to watch later for reference. Other items needed and not included are a mixing bowl, fork, 1 Tablespoon measuring spoon, and up to 3T water. After giving this process a whirl, (makes about 4 bath bombs from the kit) the choices and combos one can continue to create are infinite! Add in some creativity, you'll learn a really top notch skill, promote self care, and can give as gifts. Art meets science! Gifts guaranteed to be well received, not become a regifted white elephant, and you don't have to dust it, lol. Supporting The Works is also beneficial to showcasing their business and the artisans they also partner with. The Works Seattle 151 12th Avenue, Seattle WA 98122 theworksseattle.com

The teacher Lendy was very accommodating and helpful to alternate your perspective of painting and getting you out of perfectionism. Hyper realistic art isn't as interesting--and wouldn't you just take a photograph if that's what you want? Not only did you learn a bit about painting in the 8 week or so in person course but also how high of expectations people have of themselves. We started with probably 15 or so people enrolled and the last class had four. Even if you think your art sucks, just showing up and investing time will make it better. No one is good at anything immediately. You can also get out of external validation in these types of classes. If most paintings from others look similar, what do YOU want your art to look like? Is the question to ask. The class is pretty affordable for the hours and time you spend painting as well. The main feedback I would have is a little more time educating. Most of the beginner classes have a quick overview for about 10 minutes and then you start painting for the rest of the three hour class. I might be a very literal and visual learner, but I would love to go through more examples prior to start, and more in depth learning about technique and maybe some history or introduction to artists for maybe a third of the class or at least 30 minutes. Even if it was a pre read, I would read it. You get a ton of experimentation time, I'm a nerd for learning so I may have initially expected equally technical to hands on experience. I definitely recommend trying a class here especially if your more of a hands on "I'll figure it out" kind of learning style or looking for more studio time over lecture or traditional education. Worth your time!

This is a great brunch spot with the girlies, a super fun work event, the perfect birthday activity for any age - and you get to take home something memorable. Something you created alongside people you shared this memory with! Did I mention that there's FOOD? I just got a coffee this day, but my sisters had some tea and a pastrami sandwich. I stole a bite of the sandwich, it was indeed delicious. Next time, I'm going for a brunch outing and I WILL be indulging in some mimosas. The most beautiful pain and sip place I can think of. So you come in, order food and drinks if you'd like and then find a place to sit. Go pick out the pottery piece you would like - I will warn you, this is the hardest part of the process. After that, there's a station with all the supplies you may need (paint and paint palettes, paint swatches after firing, brushes, sponges, stencils, paper towels, food paper to sit things on, water bowls, I'm sure there's more I'm missing). Return to your table, paint, order more food, play with the super fun games they have?? (We played with a miniature pool table. Sure, it was missing some balls, but how often do I get to play with a mini pool table?), and when you're ALL done, take your piece to the counter. They'll have you take a picture of your item before paying for it. You will use this picture to pick up the item(s)! You pay for it and it's ready to pickup in 8 days! Plan ahead :) I do wish that there was a little more guidance when you arrive, but with that being said, everything *is* on their website. Some information is a little confusing or not current, however. I also wish that this place was a bit better staffed, but I know that's an issue many face and this business appears to be fixing! When it was a little rushed, I could sense the frustration of the person behind the food counter. Completely understandable, but it leaves room for improvement! Overall, I can't wait to come back to this place. I painted the plate, and I kinda want to try this again and see if I can improve! Can't wait to bring my mom here, maybe for Mother's Day?! You know what, let's all bring our moms here and create something special - memories and pottery!

The wine list was pretty small with about 4 white options and 4 reds ( I think ?) but we were all satisfied with the ones we got. I like that they had instructions on every table of how to prep and paint everything from beginning to end so we could be very independent through the process! From what I saw, most pieces were between 25-60. They had a decent amount of options to pick from, including a plates, bowls, mugs, and trays, as well as animals and trinket holders. I would've loved a few more paint colors but what they had got the job done! There was a little chaos with the payment because of our reservation, but everything got sorted out and we had a great time!
