I will start this review by saying, in all honesty, that this place is changing my life for the better. Aspiring artists: do yourselves a favor and take some classes here. Seattle Artist League (SAL) recently opened a spacious and welcoming studio in the Greenwood neighborhood, and co-founders Ruthie V. and Lendy have stacked the roster of instructors with amazingly talented local painters in several media, and have also deeply instilled SAL with a spirit of inclusion, support, interaction and positivity. The overall vibe is equal parts community and one-on-one instructor/student interaction. There is structure, but that structure is very well-tailored to individual needs. Classes range from weekend workshops to 6-week classes with ample opportunity for drop-in studio time as well; all skill levels are welcomed, even beginners who aren't quite sure which end of the brush the paint is supposed to go on. Prices are very reasonable and competitive with other art institutes in Seattle. After decades of listening to that little voice in my head say, "I wish I knew how to paint," I am so happy and relieved to finally be learning how to do it, and the progress I see in my own work from week to week and month to month is obvious...I'll never be Leonardo van Gogh the Elder or nothing like that, but the sheer joy of being able to translate thoughts into paint on canvas with the guidance and wisdom of Ruthie V. and the other instructors has been transformative. So, YOU: if you have a little voice that says, "I wish I knew how to paint," then do it! Check out the catalog! Sign up for a class! If you have a competing little voice that says, "No, don't do it because art classes are scary," then you just tell that second little voice that it's a jerk who should go play in traffic.

I've taken a number of classes through SAL and have been so impressed with the quality of instruction, the variety of classes offered, and the support from the staff.

Work in progress thanks to Seattle Artist League.

Small but mighty learning space for artists of all stripes, colors, persuasions and skill. The emphasis is always on learning and enjoying art. I love the new online Zoom classes which have been a lifesaver during the pandemic. It's a great welcoming place to get started: low on prevention, high on trying and experimenting.

Located in Georgetown, the cute and brightly lit studio is close by an interesting antique store. After your done with the class, you can head over to see if there are any Antique Show-worthy items. Overall, the beginner's experimental class I took was a fun way to explore colors (in the safety of a patient instructor). The desks with paint splatter gave the place a welcoming vibe. It was definitely a stress-free environment. If I have another opportunity to take an art class, I would definitely come back to The Miller School of Art. You can tell the owner Mark Miller loves teaching, just by the way he speaks about it and how he gave unique feedback to everyone.

Angela and David are incredible teachers -- knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping actors grow. It's been over 20 years since I was last in the industry, and so much has changed. Angela and David break everything down in a way that makes the new audition world feel clear and manageable. Their guidance has helped me rebuild my confidence and understand how modern auditions work, both self‑tapes and in‑person. I'm learning a lot, I feel encouraged every week, and I'm excited to continue taking more classes with them. Mighty Tripod is a fantastic place for anyone returning to acting or starting fresh.

I had gone with the 4 headshot package and throughout the entire process, from planning the date to him sending the final four headshots, David was a very patient, helpful, and fun person to work alongside. Having no prior knowledge, David not only gracefully guided me throughout the entire process, but he also gave great advice on headshots, fashion, life, and more. During the actual session, David made the experience very relaxing and fun that my nervousness disappeared almost instantly. It made the headshot session pass in an instant, that when we finished, I could not believe how fast it ended. Even when the session was finished, he continued to be helpful and patient as I was constantly asking more and more questions. All in all, David was a blast to work with.
