It's getting tougher and tougher to find a frame shop you can count on to offer both good work and prices you can afford. It's not that they're all out to rob you, I don't think, it's just a more-expensive business than it used to be. And too many of them rely on prominent locations to get noticed. That real estate comes with (literally) a cost. Enter Garrett's Framing Studio. They're in a small strip mall set back not just from a main road but from a side street, too. They have a big suite with plenty of space, and they do a ton of work in-house. I found this out after realizing I not only had a backlog of stuff I've been wanting to frame, but would actually have a little wall space again after giving a few things away. I contacted a few places to see about prices and services, and none of them really got back that quickly (Garrett's included). These guys ended up being my first phone call after all my emails went nowhere, and he quickly walked me through a few ways to finish my projects for less money than I might have thought. Instant interest. I ended up framing a couple things myself with store-bought kits, and put all my focus on a nice piece that's been rolled up for a couple years, waiting for attention. Garrett was behind the counter when I brought it in. He had already juggled emails and phone calls from me as well as an email from my sister about buying me a gift certificate to put toward the project. He walked us through all the matte and frame options, with tons of creative input and advice on criteria to use while deciding. But it was all very low-key, and he never acted like he was the only person in the room who knew anything about framing. He even noticed that the piece was signed, without having to have that pointed out, and adjusted the matte size accordingly. We picked something in under 10 minutes, and he offered advice on the most cost-effective glass for the piece. The price is still a little higher than an old geezer like me is used to, but that's geezer life for ya. He ended up being super-responsive on email once the project was underway, and proactive, too--always thoughtful with communication. I picked up my piece a couple weeks later, as promised, and it's hanging now just across from the desk in my office. I couldn't be happier. I've always liked having framed stuff around the house, to the point where now I have all the stuff I can handle. It's awesome to be able to add one more. And now I have a go-to frame shop as well...just in case I buy a bigger house or something. read more

If you are looking to get something framed YOU MUST go to Garrett's. Professionalism of the highest order. I came to Garrett with a difficult piece, it was 59" spiral printed picture of an Ethiopian Coffee picker off of Etsy. I didn't expect having difficulty getting it framed but everywhere I went, I was consistently faced with challenges. However, when I got to Garrett's he was genuinely thrilled for the challenge of framing my piece. He went above and beyond (ordering additional pieces to make it work, allowing me to take frame edges home to see how it fit in my houses color scheme).
