The Book Larder is a charming little book store that sells all food-related books including cookbooks, restaurant guides for different cities, food theory/analysis, and food-related greeting cards and games. You can find cookbooks for any culture, lifestyle, diet, or interest. As a vegan, I found plenty of books that applied to me. There are lots of books about food in Seattle and the PNW as well. If you take public transportation, the store is right off the 5 bus route.

I finally went here for the first time and it's a cookbook lover's heaven!! I can't wait to go back. Books are nicely displayed and categorized. I went for Polina Chesnakova's cookbook talk on her new book Everyday Cakes. It was lovely and ended with some of her cake! It was a little toasty in there on a summer evening with the sun besting into a small room but fans were going. I look forward to returning to more cookbook author talks and perusing the best selection of cookbooks that I've ever seen!

I LOVE cookbooks. They're my favorite type of book. I love reading cookbooks and learning from them. I love looking at cookbooks with great photos. 95% of the books I check out from the library are cookbooks. This is why I was so excited when I learned about Book Larder! We stopped in one afternoon while visiting Seattle and I had a field day just looking around. There were so many cookbooks I've never heard of, and I have heard of a lot! The shop itself is thoughtfully arranged with great displays. If I lived nearby I would go to all their events! They have a small kitchen setup and someone was cooking something on the stovetop when we were there. I love the vintage window display. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because we were completely ignored by both the women working while we were there. It was sort of awkward since the store is not big and they didn't even look at us, smile, say hello... nothing. The only interaction we received was when we politely said thank you when leaving. I thought it was really weird since anyone coming into a store like this probably has something in common with the people working there. My friend also commented on how strange it was. A simple "hello, let us know if you need help with anything," when a customer enters can go a long way for making people feel welcome.

Catching up on Yelp reviews. This was for an author visit the MKE Yelper wanted to attend at Book Larder on 10/12/18. I love supporting indie bookstores, especially when the focus is all things related to cookbooks. That evening also happen to coincide with their 7th anniversary where they were hosting a multifaceted chef who divides her time between Seattle and Karachi, Pakistan. It was a small, intimate gathering where we got to sample a recipe from her cookbook, listen to the chef/author's anecdotes, and of course, Q&A. I've attended several of these type of author readings/lectures. Book Larder has monthly events like that, cooking/baking classes, helpful professional staff, and an amazing selection of cookbooks and culinary related gifts. Make sure to sign up for their monthly newsletter. Plus join their buyer's club where you accrue enough for free gifts and a mighty discount on a future purchase. With the volume of books I've purchased over the years, it a miracle the second floor of my townhouse hasn't collapsed!

BC: Book larder is a small, independent book store that caters to the art of cookery. There are loads of different options available to shoppers including loads of different options sorted by cuisine. In the days before C, it was also home to instructional cookery classes and catered to a lunch and learn crowd with a small section of unique books. AC: This used to be my go-to book store in the Seattle area but sadly is no longer the case. Before going to the store, you need to register online via their website as traffic for the store is strictly limited due to C. I didn't have a booking and waited approximately 10 minutes before being allowed in between appointments - so registering ahead of time is strongly advisable. When I finally gained access, one of the staff members was blunt when I declined sanitising my hands due to the chronic skin condition I've formed from hand sanitiser which sadly left a really sour taste in my mouth. When I asked about their second hand/older book selection which was the main reason I would keep coming back I was informed that they stopped doing it. Sadly they killed one of the main things that made this store unique and served the bad news to me with some attitude. If you want to support an independent book seller who specialises in cookery books then shop here. If you're after something special or a unique gem, sadly they no longer carry those.

The Book Larder is the BEST. They have such a fantastic selection of cookbooks for people who: - are new to cooking - love cooking - love baking - want to learn about a specific cuisine - etc PLUS they have such great events like classes and author talks. I highly recommend checking this place out for their books and events if you even remotely enjoy cooking and/or trying new foods!

Have lived in the neighborhood for years and am just now finding out about this space. It really is special. I saw a chef who had been featured on the Today Show - very very professional, put on a great show. Very warm and friendly atmosphere.

Fresh clean bright salad w/ asparagus, snap peas, mint, radish, & carrots w greens, orzo, & lentils. And an unbelievable nutty hummus!!

Book Larder has been donating delicious, clean, fresh-tasting vegetarian dishes to Harborview Medical Center during these tough times. One of the BEST dishes I've ever had! Thank you, Book Larder!

Adorable shop!!! This is a little slice of heaven for anyone who is looking for a cookbook! I have heard of this shop for over a year. I was finally able to get into one of their cooking classes later this summer. I listen to their podcast and was lucky enough to be a taster for their French Pastry Bake off. What a fun community they are building. I just wish I lived in the neighborhood so I could be a regular.

My cousin and I were basically playing hide and seek because I couldn't find where she was. Lol. I had a hard time finding it, but once I finally did totally worth it! This cozy bookstore feels like stepping back in time. Shelves are stacked with a mix of used, vintage, and classic books, and honestly... they smell like it too. Lol. There's just something comforting about that old-book scent. You'll find everything from fiction and poetry to rare finds and children's titles tucked in the corners. It's small, quiet, and slightly perfectly imperfect in the best way because every shelf feels like a treasure hunt! The nostalgic vibe makes you want to linger a little longer. Priced fair, service is fast. If you love books with history and personality, this is a sweet little hidden gem worth discovering inside Pike Place. A nice escape from the Market's buzz just you, the books, and that unmistakable paper and ink smell.

I walked in and didn't expect much, but we were exploring the levels of Pike Place because I didn't realize they had levels upon my last visit. I was also looking for a biscuit spot that was across the street. So we went back and forth, floor by floor and found this gem where we stopped to peruse the books. My husband found some books and bought them. The person working there was nice and helpful. It was clear that he knew his inventory, as my husband asked about a book and he led him to it. The value was good as well. I know that we will definitely be back, next time, I hope to spend a bit more time there. This isn't the most organized place, but if you are willing to look through the books and are open to the surprise find that awaits you, then this is the spot for all of that!

Took me an hour to find Lion heart book store cause it's in one of the levels at Pike place and being such a small and crammed spot with many many stores was very hard to find. I totally will take the blame on my navigation skills but what was disappointing was calling multiple times and no one picked up my call - just for some tips or guidance. Next the owner wasn't in the store, there was this boy who no matter how well or how nicely I tried asking for tips on books or any details around books the only response I got was "unfortunately I don't have any info, you have to look up the books" gosh! That wasn't the help I was expecting and the boy refused to move from his spot or even try helping from the spot he was so comfortably perched on. No matter what, bad bad experience!
