I'm not the most avid reader, but I do enjoy sci-fi books. I usually look for Isaac Asimov and Ursula Le Guin books and was lucky to have found a hardcover copy of Asimov's The Naked Sun here. I've never seen this cover illustration before! My friend is into fictional classics and picked up some books by John Steinbeck and Jamaica Kincaid. She was quite happy with her finds as well. We had a nice chat with the older woman at the checkout desk. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the books we were purchasing and recommended additional authors and titles based on what we selected. We mentioned that we were just visiting for the weekend, and she told us that you can call to inquire about their inventory. If they're carrying the book(s) you'd like to purchase, they will also ship them to you! I thought that was neat.

I stopped by this shop while I waited for the pie shop next door to open, and I'm grateful for it. Staff were very friendly, left me to walk around as I looked for a book, and were helpful when I let them know the genre I typically like. They were well read, kind of like librarians. I found two great books, one of which is now one of my favorites and the other that I have yet to read, made it to Barack Obama's list for the year so it seems interesting. I have since visited again to pick up more books. Would recommend a visit!

However, when I came in last week, I picked up book after book, and all the used book prices were exactly the same as the listed price for a new book. These are also relatively common books, not rare or special editions - not to mention, the condition was far from new. Considering that a lot of books are traded in for a substantially lower value, this doesn't seem like a very customer-friendly business practice.
