Edible print for a birthday cake
    Christina B.

Very great customer service! Everything you could need for baking and cake decorating. Knowledgeable owner who is very friendly. They also make edible prints for cakes and cookies at any size. Prices are reasonable for a store front and you can always find things in a pinch that online stores can't provide. I'm in there at least once a week. I love this place as a baker!

So I'm gonna preface this with I am NOT a professional baker or decorator or professional food anything! I am not especially artistic either. I have always been so welcomed into Home Cake, never felt intimidated by the oodles of professional supplies available and have always basically had my hand held and made to feel anything was within my abilities given the proper info about tricks and technique (which they lavishly shower on you for free)! The previous owner (the legendary Home Cake legacy Griel) and the new owner (super skilled and knowledgeable David) are just the best resource to have in your back pocket when attempting stuff you definitely should probably not be attempting . I only make cakes 3 times a year for my 3 kid's birthdays and we do a wacky Christmas cookie decorating party in December. That being said, I let my kids choose what they want for a cake...in hindsight, this may have been a terrible idea...but I've always come through with their dream cakes basically because of this store and the people who work there!!! If I had just purchased stuff online, then A) I would not have had enough knowledge to pull these delicious cakes and cookies off B) I would have had alllllll the wrong stuff and spent a ton of money needlessly, and C) my kids would probably cry when their cakes fell over because making cakes to feed the quantity of family and friends we have can be epic. They have always walked me through exactly what I need and given me tips on how to do it affordably, easily, and more quickly than I could even have hoped for (did I mention I'm a crazy busy mom of 3?!). Wether it be a hello kitty castle cake, beach themed Christmas cookies, or a spider smashing a car rainbow cake (no idea what my 4 year old was thinking...also, it was rainbow layers inside) I have always been the hero mom in their eyes for these and it's all due to this single establishment. Side note: decided to take on making sugar skulls one year. They had the molds, a free recipe card for me, and gave me suggestions about which icing recipe and decorating tips to use to make them amazing! Also, the stack of pancakes is a CAKE!!! And probably the easiest/fastest one I've ever made. And, if nothing else go there for food coloring!!! The stuff you get at the grocery store is a watery mess of a joke! Their food coloring comes in like a bazillion (ok, maybe like 50) colors and is super rich in color without having to add much, doesn't add water to your frostings, and doesn't add any weird tastes.

"Beware: you will suddenly feel a surge of creativeness upon entering the store." This store contains massive amounts of cake decorating supplies enough to satisfy your inner "Cake Boss" dreams. Stacks of cake pans, boxes of cutters, and various tools and toppers are displayed in mini box bins. The initial reaction when I entered the store was "WOW." There were so many selections that my initial idea for my cake suddenly evolved into a more elaborate design. The store owner was kind enough to provide me with an on-the-spot recommendation for my cake design. She helped select specific presentation boards, boxes, fondant, roller, offset spatulas, and piping tips. The prices are very reasonable and the tips and tricks by the owner is free. My overall impression of this place reminds me of a small town store were the main goal is to ensure you are enjoying your cake decorating experience and that you have all of the tools needed to create your masterpiece.

I am a self taught home baker who initially made cakes to supplement our income while living in Belgium. Today, I am a mad-baker dishing out monstrosities of cakes from my kitchen in Mount Vernon, Washington. I don't have a business account or space for overhead, therefore I rely on cake supply stores around the country. My favorite and my life-saver, on more than one occasion, has been Home Cake Decorating Supply. The well stocked inventory and AMAZING customer service, in addition to the knowledgeable know how's from Dave, helps calm any mad-baker panic attacks. This has made me a loyal customer since I moved to Washington in 2016. Thank you Dave for EVERYTHING!! You are AWESOME!!!

It is located between PetSmart and Sprouts. Received a giant shopping bag upon entry, thanks! Never been inside a HomeGoods, brand new so very tidy and orderly. Places like Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Marshall's can be a bit messy in contrast. It has a a little bit of this and that of various home stuff and things. Perfect to refresh or fully outfit your home without breaking the bank. I was debating between a soft spring throw or a sauce pan, the latter wins! I zoomed past the vast kitchen gadgets and utensils and anything bunny related, resist impulse weaknesses. But roamed each aisle and got some note to self decorating ideas. My style seems to be post dormitory with a wee bit of orderly hoarder, lol. Prices were reasonable and a terrific variety. Check it out you're in the North Seattle. We were put on the waitlist after doing so but then got a text several days later saying two spots opened for us, so I snagged our seats as fast as I could. Really appreciate the staff on the other line for reaching out to me and "reserving" my spots unless I let them know I'm not interested! Getting here, there is the Meyden Garage that offers 3-hour free parking for customers of Whisk and other surrounding businesses though most spaces inside there did not have the signage saying that so it was confusing parking around there. Getting inside the building, you'll see what can only be described as a haven for chefs and aspiring cooks of all levels; you have cooking tools, pots and pans, cookbooks, plates, neatly folded cloth napkins and a bunch of other things strewn around in such a colorful and organized manner. The kitchen for our cooking class was clean and spacious, with all the ingredients we need prepped and set out in front of us. We worked in pairs prepping and cooking all our dishes throughout. Chef Thanh Tang was very informative and engaging throughout the whole process, and the other staff working with him were efficient in cleaning used utensils and keeping everyone's prepped items in check. Instructions were very clear, and directions flowed very well since we made one dumpling after another! Since both of us don't really cook and we had many questions to ask, it took us a bit to catch up with the rest of the class, but all the folding techniques became much easier to do thanks to our teacher. For this particular class, we pan-fried the shrimp and chive dumplings, while the wontons and steamed vegetable dumplings we prepped were steamed while we all took a break. As for the spicy green beans, I actually had the chance to stir-fry a non-spicy version of them in front of the class! All the food we made here was really good, and we came close to having to box some of it home too! Everything here was worth the $150 per person from the experience to the food, and I'd take another class here in the future! For reference, the class I took is called "More Dumplings, Dumpling?" and ran on a Saturday from 5:30-8:30pm though that's just a timeframe since I did stay slightly longer just to finish my food!
