A lovely store and bakery with great people working there! I was sad when I learned Salmonberry was no longer going to be at the farmer's market but was thrilled to learn they have a shop! It's a very cute, small store. They have a great selection of high end grocery items and some pre-made food. The bakery is so so good, and I love their unique flavors.

Cardamom Buns

My fiancé and I stopped at Salmonberry for a slow Sunday morning treat. When we arrived they had an array of baked goods in the case, but we happened to overhear two different customers ask about the ETA for cardamom buns, which happened to be about 10 minutes. Originally, the cashier had said it would be around an hour, and one customer was planning to leave and then come back again! After all the attention on the cardamom buns, we figured we had to wait for them too. While we were waiting, we browsed the adorable store and goods. As a foodie and appreciator of high quality goods, any item from the Salmonberry store would be a perfect gift for the foodie in your life. When the cardamom buns were out of the oven, we grabbed two and ate them on the walk home. The buns were warm fresh from the oven, and were both sweet and a little spicy. Overall, we were very satisfied with our purchase and throughly enjoyed our Sunday treat!

I love Salmonberry!! Started getting their stuff from Farmers' Markets (they still have a booth at the Ballard one), but they recently opened a permanent spot in Sunset Hill. Their shop sells the most delightful baked goods and other things, including local produce, take-and-bake pizzas, handmade dry pasta, a curated wine selection, and spices and sauces galore. They make a variety of tasty breads and pastries, including my favorite cookie in Seattle (peanut butter malt, it's vegan and gluten free) and a vegan onion cookie akin to a slightly more savory Snickerdoodle. I also love the valentine (like a poptart made with seasonal fruit) and their sweet focaccia (also with seasonal fruit). Oh and they make this vegan corn cake in the summer that I wait for every year bc it's so delicious. It's topped with this sweet and salty and creamy frosting. It's a bit unique, but I love it (obsessed). The folks who run it and work there are simply the best. They also do a farm box with local produce.

I loved that they had red carrots (my favorite), fresh garlic and local rhubarb. The produce maybe a tad expensive but the taste of the vegetables makes up for it. Chris, Kailyn and Jared are always available to help. I have had numerous instances when orders had to be cancelled at the last minute or I had a missing item or I was not satisfied with what I got. We almost never have this issue when buying directly from farmers' markets, so I'm convinced there's something wrong with how they store and handle their produce. Other reviews mention the same thing. They also replaced locally grown cilantro with cilantro grown in Mexico, without any note or explanation. Getting fresh, locally sourced food is literally the only reason we order from them. We had an order that was supposed to be delivered on Thanksgiving morning (that's what it said on their newsletter), but it arrived on Friday instead. When we contacted customer service, they gave defensive response that three minutes after we placed the order, the system updated to the "correct" delivery date, even though their newsletter said they don't deliver on that date. The response didn't actually address the lack of clarity about the delivery date. They even once included a slip of paper with someone else's name, phone number, and address. We're done with this place.

This is a nice co-op grocery in West Seattle near Alki (I don't know the area that well). There is outside parking and a parking garage. It was crowded, yet I get a parking spot quickly. Nice layout. I just walked along the route and found everything I needed without backtracking. In addition to food, they have a large store with organic type soaps and socks and whatnot. Also a large pharmaceutical selection (non-prescription). Staff was very friendly - noticeably so. PCC is a bit out of my budget for regular shopping yet I enjoy patronizing them on occasion due to their business practices and their interesting and appetizing selections.

Large, clean location with easy parking access. The produce selection when I went was fairly "meh," and seemed like a smaller selection than other stores, but I was able to find everything else that I wanted. I didn't talk to the employees, but the vibe was off. I felt like I was an inconvenience in their way even though I was nowhere near their personal space bubble.

I started my New Roots "subscription" back up a few months ago and Oh My God I am so glad I did!…read more The customer service is still absolutely amazing.* The fruits and veggies are still tasty and interesting. The delivery to my doorstep is still super-fantastic. The new beautiful things? They now have fruit-only and veggie-only bins! And more importantly... YOU CAN NOW MAKE SUBSTITUTIONS ON THE SITE AND BUY EXTRA ITEMS IF YOU WANT TO! I believe you're limited to 5 substitutions per bin, but that's still awesome! Sometimes I haven't finished the apples yet or know I won't want a certain item the following week, and I love that I can edit my order right on the website (instead of having to email or call). I do like going to shops and markets and picking out my own things, but experience has shown me that I just don't make enough time for that to actually have produce available in my kitchen every day/week. This way I get to discover new items, only have to decide on any substitutions I might want, and it shows up on my doorstep every Tuesday so I always have some (healthy!) food available at home without needing to go shopping. I LOVE IT! *Case of amazing customer service: The owner Carolyn recently called me because she noticed that I had selected the fruit bin, but kept substituting vegetables in. She wanted to suggest switching to the personal mixed bin because then I'd be able to still get fruit and a bunch of other items. I'm so happy I did that because with the fruit bin I kept going crazy and ordering like 10-15 bananas each time. Now I limit myself to 2-4 bananas and get a wider variety of veggies/fruit instead!

But we decided to do a market food tour, which I would highly recommend doing The market is a nice size and I know for sure if we had not done the food we would of missed some things. The tour was also nice because we got to skip lines in some popular spots for food tasting and samples. Loved seeing them throw the fish. Sad they don't throw to non employees anymore but still a great show. All the stands provided samples and tastings. The flowers were beautiful and well priced. But it was an alternative option as my grocery options were pretty limited late one Friday night. Coffee Bar was already closed, deli department was also closed, but few items to choose from the deli were in the refrigerated section, beer and wine department had an assortment of items to choose from. Yet alcohol wasn't on my agenda. What I did find was a few bakery items, breakfast burritos looked worth a try, and this was my first attempt to healthy sodas and fresh squeezed juices. Appreciated a staff that guarded the front entrance for safety and security. The cashier offered me to join and become a member. Membership fee was a bit high, although if I return more often, it might be a better investment. Almost all businesses in Capital Hill cater to the LGBT community, you will see rainbow flags flying at store fronts. Seattle is such an inclusive and diverse city.
