Sausage roll, scone & cherry chocolate shortbread

Hello! You had me at sausage rolls! We've known about Marenka and La Liatha since her days as a vendor at the Shoreline Farmer's Market and then Queen Anne. During her soft opening, I went two consecutive weekends to pick up the highly anticipated, delicious sausage rolls. I purchased a few to heat up in the air fryer. Everything she makes is magic! Since my last visit, La Liath just has their grand opening. Service is friendly and prompt!

I saw an Instagram post about a tea biscuit assortment from Lá Liath Bakery and noted their presence at opening day of the Shoreline Farmers Market. I was there after the 10am opening (6/3/23), such a crowd on such a pleasant, sunny Saturday! I had the opportunity to meet Marenka Dobes, owner/chef of la Liath Bakery and thankfully there was a tea biscuit assortment available. Lovely, welcoming individual. She crafts her freshly baked goods line from a commercial kitchen in Georgetown. Can't wait when she opens her shop in Wallingford! I managed to hold off two hours before admiring then nibbling through the four types of tea biscuits. As it brought a smile and genuine satisfacation, these are highly recommended at treat for yourself or to share. Makes a terrific gift, just because. Excellent find!

Nice little bakery. Loved their sausage rolls, tarts etc. Had to go a few doors down to get coffee though!

Is there seating or is it just take-away?

It is just takeaway. Just a production kitchen and front pastry counter. Pro tip: try to visit earlier in the day for best selection. And have patience finding parking in Wallingford, since on N 45th near I-5 exits. Enjoy! The pastry chef/owner,… Read more

I ordered an extra bacon and cheese sandwich on a toasted English muffin, and it was excellent. The muffin was perfectly toasted, the bacon was crisp and flavorful, and the cheese complemented everything really well. It was simple, fresh, and very satisfying to start the morning. The bakery itself has a very pleasant atmosphere. It feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy a quiet breakfast in the city. To finish, I tried a slice of triple coconut cream pie to go, and it was absolutely heavenly. Rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced, it easily stood out as one of the highlights of the visit and something I won't forget anytime soon. Overall, Dahlia Bakery delivered great food, a relaxing atmosphere, and an outstanding dessert. Since I was only in Seattle briefly for business, I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I'm glad I had the chance to experience it.

Cake descriptions on the website but you have to go in for slice and cupcake availability- you can't pre-order slices. The shop is easy to get to with ample close parking. Inside is cute and industrial. The shop folks were lovely as well, really warm and inviting. We selected 4 slices- malted chocolate, blackout cake, funfetti, and carrot pineapple. All the whole cakes were simply decorated, but beautiful. The hubs said his funfetti cake was okay, but not outstanding. I thought it was more of a white butter cake with nice chewy sprinkles. Delicious, but maybe not the explosion he was expecting. A classic birthday cake, elevated. The blackout cake has a really rich flavor without being overwhelming- a more milk chocolate Matilda cake vibe. The carrot pineapple is pretty much a perfect carrot cake- not spice or nut, but CARROT, in the most beautiful way. The buttercream on the carrot cake is the best I can remember having- butter flavor and a smooth, sweet cream taste. But all those accolades aside- the chocolate malt cake is, simply put, the cake I would go back for. The cake itself is a perfect, moist chocolate malt flavor, without an artificial tasting aftertaste. The frosting is if they made the inside of a malted milk chocolate candy into a light, fluffy buttercream, without the cloying sweetness. I am not a huge sweets person, but cake is a special weakness. This may be the best cakery I've been to- and one I will gladly pay for.

When learning they're sold out of the PB&J, I asked the cashier which slice I should get with the options I gave her. She suggested the salted caramel slice. The salted caramel slice was really gross. As if it was or almost foul. The cake had a flavor of acidity and expiration. Maybe thought there was rum or some type of alcohol in the slice, but there isn't. I was happy when they gave an extra caramel slice on the house but after a bite, no thank you. I couldn't finish the bite & it really disappointed us as it was my bf's birthday celebration. The cupcake was quite delicious as it had a nutty texture jam on the inside. Cake was soft, wasn't so sweet and loved the mixture of texture. The seasonal key lime slice was yummy. Super light graham cake flavor, good dense cake. Not so flavorful but it wasn't as disappointing as the other one. The lime flavor was the only star of the slice. After being excited to try this place for months, and after so many attempts at trying this bakery- this may not be a go to spot for me. Avg $11-11.50 per slice

I had spotted this beautiful cake a year ago on the website and finally decided to buy it this year for my boss's birthday. It was not only the most beautiful cake I've ever seen, but truly the best tasting I've ever had. I had opted to go with the gluten-free vanilla cake in case any guests had a gluten allergy... I was a little worried that might affect flavor & consistency but blown away by the outcome! I am so happy I went this route! Kudos to the team who made this!! This was a great reminder that cakes this beautiful really make great gifts! Everyone complemented the cake- light, fluffy, moist and not too sweet. The hardest part was cutting into it because I didn't want to disrupt the beautiful decoration, but once I tasted it, I was in heaven and all in on making slices for others to enjoy. The shop has a beautiful assortment of ready to go items too, which is really convenient. I added in some super cute cake pops (smores, salted caramel & apple pie) as take home gifts and those too were a major hit. Online ordering is helpful too. Had a glitch where the reply to my request got lost in a spam black hole, but ended up calling & got things back on track. I've already placed a Thanksgiving cookie order and can't wait to find an excuse to order another cake!
