I thought this was a mom and pop's store or a corner convenience store before I went here LOL. This really is more of a market that carries some crazy unique items--- a lot of international and health food items. For a smaller market, they have a lot of variety of certain items like pasta sauces and rice but at the sacrifice of other market staples. They also have wall upon wall upon wall of wine. Never saw so much wine in a "market." Anyway, I thought this place was nice and clean. Impressed by the produce and other specialty items they carry. Appreciated that they had bottled unsweetened green tea even if it wasn't my favorite brand. Prices are what to be expected for a corner market. I got a regular size bag of Kettle brand chips, 2 Odwalla smoothies, and 2 bottles of green tea for about $15.40. Would stop by if I was in the neighborhood again. read more

Food options are not plentiful in Montlake, so thank goodness for Mont's Market. Doubling as a very solid convenience store and sandwich place, Mont's has quite possibly everything you could need. For sandwiches, you really cannot beat their prices. My go to was the Spicy BBQ chicken for a whopping $4.99. It is made fresh to order and comes out nice and hot. They have a few chairs and tables outside, otherwise, pick up a sandwich on your way from work and enjoy! read more

What a handy dandy market in the Montlake neighborhood! We were staying at an airbnb nearby and as always, there was a couple things we forgot that we needed! Also a broken wine opener onsite... and that just wouldn't do!! It's doesn't have everything, but it had what we needed. Prices were a premium since the pickings for grocery/home items nearby are slim. Can't blame them for that! They had the wine key, the maple syrup and the diapers I needed on the fly - all within walking distance through this classic Seattle cluster of blocks. Mont's Market truly disappointed me being from out of state (Iowa) Just moving to Seattle. I had great service from other employees till the women owner is convinced because my ID is fake because " I look to young" I am 23 and 24 in February. The first time I supplied 2 verifications of ID and even paid with my card. She told me to come back with 3 identifications next time. I show up to buy a drink and show her my drivers license, Identification card, and debit card. The lady owner still said it wasn't enough and said she wouldn't let me come back to buy alcohol anymore. Truly disappointed since I live so close. They need to figure out something more then the human eye to look to ID's.I haven't had a problem anywhere else. I did appreciate the compliment of looking young!:) read more

Mont's Market started making to-order hot and cold sandwiches. I ordered a BLT from the hot menu. The bacon was RAW!! Plus, no mayo on the bread and it was not toasted. This is probably the coolest convenience store on earth. It's sort of part mini-mart, part wine shop and part health food store. They have a great selection of cheeses, very good value wines and lot's of natural foods and snacks. There's also a tiny produce section. The cold case has a selection of Korean food, vegetarian sandwiches and desert foods. It's too pricey to do regular shopping but when I just want a few nice things to round out dinner but don't want to deal with grocery stores this is the place to go! It's really an amazing neighborhood resource. I wish the nasty "convenience" store on my corner would take a few lessons from this place. read more

Looking for a quick fix with all the toppings? YES. Mont's has it all. Inexpensive organic produce (make sure you squeeze everything to be sure it's still in season), random finds (red lentils, uncooked, in a bag! Palak Paneer! Beaver's Wasabi Mustard!), and the BEST non-pretentious wine selection at a great price. The cold noodles in their deli section by the register are amazing...try the teriyaki tofu. They're SUPER FRIENDLY and I love shopping here, for both basics and the blow-by "I need a bottle of wine and a snack". I'm worried if I tell you all how great it is that you'll snap up all my faves and drive prices up. But, I can't let this gem go on unknown. read more

But I am seriously jealous we don't have a Mont's around the corner from where I live, b/c I think I'd shop there far more often than a grocery store. Mont's Market is a nice looking little store with a modest selection of groceries, a nice selection of organic food, unique colas, beer, and wine. They also have a few tasty looking deli items and the convenience of some small produce. The staff is friendly as well. This place is also very pricey and I reluctantly buy an item here and there. Except, amazingly, the ice cream is cheaper than I've seen it other places, so there is some redemption there! If you don't mind paying the price for a random item, are in a bind, or looking for quick stop booze check it out, otherwise make the trip to a cheaper store. read more

Mont's! oh for the days of mont's...I lived down the street for two years, and I still miss the essential baking company bread, bulk rice, cheese and wine section. They also stock indian, chinese, japanese, thai, and mexican staples (this is the only place in seattle where I can find the enchilada sauce my family uses in texas). They also have lots of organic food and organic cosmetics, shampoo etc. If you can't find something you want, you can talk to the owner and he'll try to order it for you. Came in for the first time despite being in the neighborhood for some time now. With the prospect of our other favorite pop-in convenience store to be gone shortly, we figured to give this spot a try for a quick lunch. The sandwiches were prepared fresh and were made with tasty ingredients. We had both the turkey sandwich and the bbq chicken sandwich, both of which were fairly priced/far below market average. We were also pleasantly surprised by the wide assortment of grocery and household needs, all compacted and organized in this unassuming storefront. We so look forward to coming back! read more

If you are a black person prepared to be followed. It took finally confronting the owner and coming in on a regular basis to stop the undesirable behavior. We all have our good and bad points other than that the owner is very friendly now. Mont's has a wide selection of fruits& veggies, snacks, and beverages. I swear this place acts as my personal larder. They have a ton of veggie and eco-friendly products and a little take out food section. The owner is super nice, and the prices are decent. One warning, check the expiration dates and box integrity; I've gotten home several times to bad dairy or damaged boxes with stale food. read more

This is a great little market for your picnic supplies or snacks in the way into the arboretum. They have a TON of chilled wines to choose from with a wide range of prices. I typically assume these places are going to way overpriced as a rule of thumb. But Mont's keeps their prices reasonable at least as far as the booze is concerned! Hey have craft beer and liquor too. Ok, enough about the booze right? Yes, they have much more here than wine and beer. They have a surprising amount of products lining the shelves of this small market. Food and snacks are abundant, including local items and deli sandwiches. Four stars because the competition in the neighborhood makes it tough to choose Mont's most of the time. Montlake Market up the road has better selection and is open late. They've got enough stuff there to complete a full on grocery run. But I am so happy that this business is here too! I would say that BOTH markets deserve your patronage, but stick to Mont's if you're looking for just a quick stop before heading out in the area. read more

I love this place! I live about a mile from Mont's, and after being out of town for most of last year I can say this place is what I missed most about Montlake. The amount of STUFF they cram into this tiny convenience store is astounding. The wine selection rivals any full size market, they have Essential breads, organic produce, cheese, many local beers, and pretzels! How can you go wrong?!?! read more

I have been coming here for years and have only the best of things to say about Mont's. Their in house sandwiches are very good as are their tofu selections in the cold case And the egg rolls. I do wish they had a bit more cold grab and go food as nobody really wants Totem sandwiches do they? Prices are high but I would rather pay a bit more than up and drive to a bigger grocery. Great place, friendly staff, good variety of interesting products, reasonable price, very convenient location.

Recently, I have noticed almost no cars parked next to this market. The owner seems very stressed instead of friendly and conversational. I worry that they are going out of business, especially since their competition close by has improved tremendously. This market now charges $2.73 for a double shot of espresso whereas its competitor charges only $1.20. As a result, I buy a host of other food items from its competitor who also has a deli and places to sit down. read more
